I huffed in frustration as I stared out into the swirling black sea. Although my skin was a steaming 108.9, the cold stone of the cliff made me uncomfortable. I'd forgotten clothes when I'd changed again. My genius never went unnoticed. I was kind of glad Bella hadn't decided to join Paul and I on this little scourge; this would've been far worse.
The wind picked up, blowing my hair back. I tilted my head to the sky to feel the breeze. I stretched my arms out on either side of me as I sat with my legs crossed, taking in the coolness of the air. A voice behind me stated flatly, "That's enough Fabio; I've got your clothes."
I chuckled, "Fabio? Another joke about my hair, Paul?"
"Do I really sound like Paul?"
Oh, crap. Not Paul. I stood and spun around quickly, even though I was completely naked, to find Bella standing there with my clothes covering her face. Although I couldn't see it, I could tell she was blushing. How cute. Her eyes were shut tight as she thrust the clothes in my direction. I dressed quickly to avoid one of her spastic attacks. Those often looked like seizures and made me feel a little guilty. I piped up, "Fine to look."
She looked at me and smiled, "That's my Jacob."
"When won't I ever be?"
Her smile quickly faded. I couldn't understand why until she spoke, "Jacob, there's something I need to tell you. I don't know how to go about this exactly, but it's important."
"Bella, you know you don't need to keep secrets from me." I scratched the back of my head, feeling the anxiety in her voice.
She brushed her hair behind her ear, but a few strands fell back to her face. I reached forward to brush them away for her. When my skin touched her face, she blushed. I thought, That blush of hers...
She thrust herself into my arms then, squeezing with all her might, even though it wasn't much to me. I wrapped my arms around her, and felt her smile against my chest. She whispered, " I love you, Jacob."
"I love you, too."
She shook her head, " No, Jacob. I love you."
I laughed, giving her an odd look, "Uh, yeah, Bella. I know."
I looked down to her, finding her looking up at me with longing in her eyes. I bent down, pressing my lips against hers. She didn't fight it; she only kissed me back. I felt her hands grip my shirt. I moved a hand to the back of her head, running my fingers into her soft hair.
We reluctantly broke the kiss as the sky grew darker. I narrowed my eyes at the sky, " It's getting late. Maybe I should take you hom-"
"No!" She nearly shouted at me.
I quirked a brow toward her, " Are you okay?" Uh...what?
She tightened her grip on me, " I don't want to leave you."
This made me smirk. I was really beginning to enjoy this side of Bella. I stroked through her hair, " I'll stay with you tonight. I'll call my dad at your house. I'm sure Charlie won't mind me on his sofa." I chuckled a little.
She blushed again, " Thank you, Jake."
I quirked a brow at her again, " ...For?"
"Being there," she said as she buried her face into my chest once more. I took her hand gently and followed her to the truck my family had given her what seemed years ago. The light within her resonated; that's when I knew. It was always her.
