Oh please update soon on this story. I love any story with Jasper, but when he is in the Civil War times, I cannot get enough of those types of stories. I am looking for an update soon. :o)

I hope to be able to update soon. So many other characters have been shouting at me lately that Jasper's whispers have not gotten through. Hopefully I can settle to his story soon. Make sure you have this on Story Alert so you get the update when it happens, okay? Thanks for the encouragement!

I know! I totally forgot that I hadn't posted it here yet. And then I neglected to put my Validation Beta's name in the chapter, so it has taken simply AGES to finally see the light of day over here. *sigh* And he's still not talking yet! (Guess I've been too occupied making Pringles, huh?! lol)

I love the story btw, I hope you'll continue. Any story with Jasper in the main plot is always good to me :)

I wondered who would ask about that! Actually, no, she is not. While this IS an A/U fic, I am sticking as close to canon as I can in the things that carry over into my fic. Jasper was born pre-Civil War, and this fic assumes that he never met Maria, therefore, never became a vampire and lived his life out in the post-Civil War time period. Bella doesn't come around until 19something-or-other, so she will not figure in this at all.

I have actually written a second chapter, but I didn't realize I hadn't posted it yet here. I will fix that as soon as I can. :)

Can I just say you're totally corrupting me, first with luring me to read a Ness/Jake fic, and now - Lord help us - this?! Tell you what, though, bb, I love it! I cannot wait to read more... honestly, woman, what is this dazzling power you hold over me? Normally, I cringe at this stuff, but you make me look forward to it...

This story has a great plotline concept and I hope you continue with this idea of a story. It was a great read and it was diffrent from all the other stories I have read so far. Keep up the excelent work!

Thank you so much! This was originally a one-shot submission to ElleCC's For the Love of Jasper Contest over on that other site. ;) A few readers asked for a second helping, and Jasper was agreeable, so the second chapter should be posted here fairly soon. Chapter 3 is still in the concept stage, so I can't promise when it will be posted.

I love to explore What if? questions. And I always wondered what Jasper's life would've been like if he had made it home from the Civil War.

Just a little note of warning (which I will be adding to my story notes): there is some content coming up that some might find questionable. It's a matter that ought to be taken in historical context because, although it is illegal in many states NOW, at the time this story is set it was not illegal. I hope it won't put you off of the story. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what it is without ruining the story. Just stick with me, okay?
