Best chapter so far! Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying the development of this story, the writing is developing so much with each chapter and the lemons are some of the best I've read in a long time. Love it, I can't wait to read more from you!

Although the narration still has a reserved almost unemotional tone, things do seem to be thawing.  We have learnt nothing more about the general situation of her kidnap, no information on Charlie and nothing about Edward's 'business'.  Everything is concentrated on this dysfunctional relationship. 

We know little of Bella's past and even less of Edward's, there are not even any clue's to his real personality in his home.  Everything seems designed to focus us on this one thing this ill concieved and at the moment purely physical relationship.

This time we have learnt a little more about Edward, he let her in a bit while he was playing.  They actually shared a moment when they laughed together (that was in fact the warmest part of the story so far).  However he is still essentially a closed book.  I look forward to learning more about him, though I suspect it is going to be a slow journey as Bella gradually wears down his defences.

Bella on the other hand claims to hate him but I do not feel her hate.  I feel her numbness.  She seems just as emotionally unavailable as he is but probalby less likely to admit to it (even to herself).

So  we have two emotionally stunted people who only seem to be able to connect on a physical level, but that physical connection is intense.  I suspect there is an element of Stockholm Syndrome at play here too.  Things should start to get interesting when they start connecting on levels other than the physical.  It already seems like they are both cultured, well read and well educated so there should be plenty of common ground.

I am wondering if Edward is waiting for Bella to initiate the more tender connections like kissing.  Maybe in his mind he doesn't want to be presumptuous?  Maybe those more intimate emotional things frighten Edward?  So far all their 'encounters' have been initiated by Edward and he has dictated the way they go.  Bella is essentially passive.  I wonder if this will change?

Sometimes I hate the episodic nature of fanfic, I just want to know what happens next now.

I know the narrative is somewhat claustrophobic, we only get Bella's perspective, and her perspective is very limited because of the circumstances. The unemotional tone might just be my style though, hmmm, never thought about it. We will get to know more of Edward's past and what his issues with Charlie are, BUT the story, I think, will pretty much remain focused on the relationship between these two.

Yep, he let his guard down twice in this chapter: while playing the piano for Bella and laughing during sex. Both very brief, but still there. He is a very troubled person, and having Bella hostage is a lot harder than he ever thought it would be. His plan is not working quite as he planned...

I'd love to get more into Bella's emotional 'unavailableness' with you, just because I'd love to know why you feel this way. I'm not saying you are wrong, if the story reads that way to you, it has to be for a reason. But it is not something I was trying to portray. Some readers have stated that they feel so much along with Bella, you feel numb. It makes me aware of something I had not seen before. Like I said, I'd love to get more into this with you...

Now, their relationship IS supposed to feel somewhat numb, unemotional and purely physical, although I think it might be getting out of hand for both of them. And they do have a lot in common. Had they met under different circumstances, they would have hit it right off.

I do think emotions scare Edward, specially with Bella, and Bella would be scared to develop feelings for the man who is not only a gangster (something she hates and already tried to get away from once before), but his men almost killed her, he raped her, and he is keeping her hostage... I'd be hesitant to open too much to him too. I loved the 'presumptuous' thing, loved it... The relationship will change, it has to in order to survive. I don't want to give too much away though...

I know, isn't it great when you find a fic you love and it's already finished? Having to wait so long for updates can be such a buzz kill, I apologize, I wish I could update sooner.

In all honesty? I really don't think so, maybe as an epilogue? Hmmm, that might actually work. We'll see. I actually think that if we knew exactly what was going through Edward's mind, we'd loose the effectiveness of the story. It supposed to feel very claustrophobic and dream-like, very contained, very limited, you know? And Edward's greatest weapon right now is his crypticness, if you will ;)

You know something very strange? My Edward looks exactly like Robert as Edward, not as himself but as the movie. But Bella looks nothing like Kirsten, as a matter of fact, she doesn't really look like anyone at all, she's kinda fuzzy. I just never understood how she could think of herself as so ordinary and even bordering on the ugly, when everyone else was falling at her feet, seemed to me too odd, so I was never able to actually picture her in my mind.
