Poor Charlie. My heart feels for him. His little girl in a hospital, pregnant, possibly dying. That has to be so hard.

Love this story! Heart you girl!

XOXOXOXOXOXOXO Jess

Author's Response:

Aw, my sweet, sweet beta.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, there would be no story without you.

Thanks for everything you do!

love it!

I am really surprised he didn't attempt to choke the shit out of Edward right then and there. Wow. Great update.

Author's Response:

He restrained himself well, I think!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

I don't know any father that wouldn't have acted like that.  Wow, the drama is tugging on my heart strings.

Author's Response:

I think Charlie's reaction was very normal without any chance to prepare or to understand what happened.  Poor guy.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Reviewer: Steph29 (Signed) · Date: July 03, 2009 04:49 AM · On: Chapter 26 - Bare Hands

Glad Charlie left his gun at home!  Can't blame him for being mad at Edward though, he probably thought Edward left because of the baby.

Looking forward to more :)

Author's Response:

Charlie's gut reaction was completely normal, I think, and Em made a great call with the weapons!

I am so glad you are enjoying the story and that you reviewed!

This was so gut wrenchingly sad, Charlie so lost and afraid... Poor damn Edward, I was expecting Charlie's reaction but when Edward cries I just wanna die for him... I love that Bella's heart wants Edward near for it to beat right...

This story is beautiful, which is shocking since it's complete heartfail as of yet...

Author's Response:

Charlie.  Poor guy.  One of the few people who didn't make a massive failure in judgement and he is paying such a high price.  He acted as most parent's would, I'd wager, with no chance to prepare himself.

Thanks so much for your kind words and your review!

i know you get complaints about short chapters all the time, and that you're motivated by emotion rather than aimless plot, but at this rate, this story will be well over a hundred chapters, hahaha! Please consider adding at least one more point of view or event per chapter. I hate to sound like a jerk, but so much is left!

Author's Response:

LOL!  You don't sound like a jerk at all.  I'll take constructive comments written in such a polite manner any time!

I stand by my chapter length at this time because of the way the story is written.  It's meant to be fragmented and just bits of a story that you fill in the rest in your mind.  Flashes of the inside of people's heads.  But I *do* respect your opinion and your comment and you're probably right!  It will be WAY too many chapters!  I try to make up for it with quick updates.

Thank you *so* much for telling me your thoughts and reviewing.

Powerful and really well done!!  More...more...more....and hurry!

Author's Response:

I am so glad you connected to the chapter!  It's so hard to be Charlie right now.

Thanks for reviewing!

NO! You could never scare me off...I'm prolly slightly different than most readers...I take in the story as a whole, and not what I think should or should not be.  Of course I want there to be an interaction between Bella and Edward...but I just love that you're making Edward wait it out - it's only fair after what he did to Bella and you're right - Bella could have talked to someone - hell anyone...but she was grieving and feeling unloved and unwanted...

I love your story --- I can't wait to see where you take it!  I also love that you give me feedback as well!!!! It's so refreshing!

I will wait with anticipation for more :)

Author's Response:

I think that is what the writing process is about.  Questioning and studying other pov's.  You improve my story with every comment, and I will defend a decision if I feel it necessary.  But I am grateful to folks who stand up and tell me their thoughts.  It makes the story better.  It makes me better.  So thanks!  I puffy heart you!

Not only all that but he thinks the Cullens all but lied to him.  Charlie is a straightforward guy, so to him the exact moment the Cullens knew about Bella either Esme or Carlisle should have called him.  I hope Edward also knows that Charlie isn't going to get over his rage anytime soon if he ever does.  Good chapter, looking forward to the next one.

Author's Response:

I truly think Charlie will surprise you in this story.  He's stronger and wiser than we give him credit for!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

i'm only on chapter 3 but this is wonderful.  i love it that alice has more of a role in this story and i hope that she is able to help bella.  i can't wait to see where this goes.

Wow.  What a fabulous, heart-wrenching story... I lov every crying moment of it! I'll take it! (even without the nekky Cullens... though a Nekky Edward singing Josh Turners Would You Go With Me would be... wow, good.

Author's Response:

Now that's a mental image for ya!

I'm so glad you are enjoying the story!

OMG, I feel so bad for Charlie.  So glad his gun is at home cause even when Edward is bad we still love him and can't have him dead.  Can't wait for the next one.  You rock.

Author's Response:

Yup.  Emmett had that one right!

Charlie had so much to absorb in that moment.  Poor guy.

Thanks for the review.

Wow, that about killed me.  As a mom, I coul dnot imagine seeing my child so broken and small.  Charlie is a great parent, as hard as it is to put your childs needs above such fierce rage, how aweful.

"She beleives in happy endings..."

I have to say, I light up like it is Christmas morning when I see you have an update, I love it!  (My husband thinks I am nutz btw!  LOL!)

Author's Response:

My man thinks I am too.  I have learned not to care ;)

I do believe in happy endings!  Really!

I'm the same way.  Were that my child and I had no time to prepare for what I saw, I would go fricken ballistic as well.  Actually, Charlie restrained himself pretty well!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Loved it!  Poor Charlie.  He had me in tears when he was speaking to Bella.  But I was really scared for Edward.  Thank God Emmett had sense enough to get him to leave the firearms at home. LOL.  Can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

Emmett definitely had that one right!

Thanks so much for all of your support!

"I wouldn't have been mad... at least not at you."

Gah! I hate it when people always blame pregnacy on the guy. It takes TWO people to have sex. TWO. Not one, uness we are talking about rape... which obvisouly WASN'T the case here. This is not all Edward's fault. That is so beyond sexist. And not only is it sexist, but it is belittling Bella's integrity by saying that she wasn't responsible and mature enough to make her own decisions... but Edward was, so all of her choices fall on his shoulders. I feel like I am going to be screaming that until this story is over lol... ITS NOT JUST EDWARD'S FAULT!

Bella WANTED to have sex. HER choice.

Bella could have made sure a condom was used. Both of their choice.

Bella could have made sure she was on birthcontrol, and that it was affective. HER choice.

And Bella could have made SURE Edward and Charlie new about the baby. HER choice.

Bella is an educated woman, who is smart enough to make her own choices and handle the responsibility for them.

It is just so completely wrong, and stupid, and immature of people to blame things on Edward. I really hope peolple start to get off thier "everything is Edward's fault" kick soon. I'm not gonna stop reading the story... I love it, and it is so well written... but its getting really hard to read all of the Edward badgering. I don't know what I would do if I were him at this point. You can only take people berrating you, and putting the world on your shoulders for so long.

I wish the kid would stand up for himself, explain everything that happend, and stop taking everyone's crap. But thats just not him. That shows what a good guy he is. All he wanted to do was protect the woman he loves... he never made a single choice in this story for his own personal wellbeing... and look where it got him, at the top of everyone's sh*t-list.

Author's Response:

God, I love your reviews!  So much passion!

To explain *my* choices here:  I don't see this as all Edward's fault.  I'm not writing *me*.  I'm writing Charlie here and I think that his reaction in this chapter is pretty typical.  Do I agree that he blames this all on Edward?  Hell no.  You know I think they *all* made mistakes in this story.  Bella definitely did as well.  BUT, this is Charlie's primal reaction.  He's thought his daughter was likely dead, then she's in the ICU, then she's pregnant?  That's a lot to absorb for a parent.  He's overwhelmed and he lashes out, placing the blame on someone, anyone, but his beloved little girl.  He's not rational right now and this is just his knee-jerk reaction.  Right or wrong, it's human nature.

Now, that being said, I think Charlie will truly surprise you, in the end.  He's a lot stronger and wiser than we give him credit for.  And Edward is getting stronger and more assertive by the chapter, so he will learn to stand up for himself in his own way.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Reviewer: sambois (Signed) · Date: July 03, 2009 03:55 AM · On: Chapter 26 - Bare Hands

I don't think that would be easy for any parent and you always need someone to blame! this is such a well written story!

Author's Response:

Exactly.  This is Charlie's first, shocked, primal reaction.  He hasn't had a chance to think or absorb it yet, so I think his reaction is pretty appropriate.

Thank you so much for your kind words and review!

... I kinda want Charlie to beat Edward into the ground... he damn well deserves it... Sorry i hold a grudge. Well what are you waiting for?! Hurry up with the fingers and the keyboard! We are in great need of another chapter!! This was amazing! God i love fanfiction :)

Author's Response:

You won't be in a rush when you see what's in the next chapter!  Code Scarlet through and through!

I need to write 36 today and if I finish it, I'll submit 27.  I have a rule about staying ahead:)  But I usually knock out a chapter in about an hour or so.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Aw, poor Charlie, he handled it about how I thought he would. so sad, I always have to go find a happy story after these updates, they break my heart, but not in a bad way, you are just a really good writer :) Looking forward to more!

Author's Response:

I think Charlie's reaction is normal for a terrified parent.  But he will come around in the end.

Thanks so much for your kind words and your review!

Poor Charlie! I feel so bad for him. I hope he allows Carlisle to explain everything to him. Thanks so much for the update and I can't wait to see what happens next.

xoxo

Author's Response:

I think Charlie will surprise you, with or without Carlisle's assistance.  He's a lot stronger and wiser than we give him credit for.

i feel sorry for charlie...i mean, not knowing where his daughter was for months...thinking every day that she could be dead...worrying non-stop...then to finally find her, and find her like that...with Edward...and to think that he left her because of the baby...must be so hard...i wanna cry...*sigh*...but this story is definitly one of my favourites...and i dont have many(favourites of favourites of favourites i mean...). after all, this story is incredibly amazing...

Author's Response:

Thank you SO much for your kind words!  I appreciate the review!

As for Charlie, it's heartbreaking.  Truly.  She's lost, she's found, she's in hell and so is he.  It's his little girl.  Very difficult situation.

I have to make this fast because I'm getting ready to leave to go camping.

That made me so sad I can't stand it when my dad cries and that was the frist thing that poped in to my head. I hope that he can forgive him.

Hmm. As for PoV Hmmmmmm Esme?

I'll be back sunday!!!

Author's Response:

Have so much fun camping!  One of my favourite activities!

I know.  I kept picturing my dad when I wrote this, even if my dad is far more of a Carlisle than a Charlie!

Thanks for the review!

Reviewer: Charmie (Signed) · Date: July 03, 2009 03:41 AM · On: Chapter 26 - Bare Hands

Loved hearing Charlie's POV...you are absolutely right about Charlie being an innocent victim in all this.  Course in my mind so is Bella....she did nothing to deserve this, and her giving up isn't really even a choice.

So i have a question for you --- do you have any idea how many chapters this will be? around?  Just curious where we are in this story!!!!

Author's Response:

Charlie is an innocent.  Bella made her errors in my opinion.  Although I understand COMPLETELY why she did it, in reality, she should have told Edward, or at least her dad, about her predicament and accepted help.  But, at the same time, when you're alone and afraid and feel like you're no longer wanted by anyone, you'll do all sorts of things that aren't the best choices.

BTW, I am so glad you're back!  I was afraid I scared you off!  I love your reviews!

As for the length of the story, I wish I had an answer!  LOL!  I don't map it out and just write what is waiting in my head to come out and when it ends, it ends.  I have a plan, but I don't know how long it will take to get there.  I have written to chapter 35 now and it definitely has at least 10 chapters to go after that.  And then I am thinking I'm going to write a multi-chapter epilogue of HEA material just to reward folks for hanging in there.

Thanks for reviewing!

Reviewer: roxyrain (Signed) · Date: July 03, 2009 03:40 AM · On: Chapter 26 - Bare Hands

So heartwrenching! I can totally understand where he is coming from and feel he is justified in his rage towards the Cullens. Poor Bella, hope she wakes soon!

Author's Response:

I think Charlie's first reaction is acceptable as a terrified parent.  But, in the end, he's a lot stronger and wiser than his first reaction.  I think he will surprise you.
