Just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed this story. The best canon work I have read so far. Edward's take is very authentic. Well done. Keep going!

I'm confused about the first bit of conversation between Edward and Bella. I don't remember that being in the book, and I was curious if you had added that in there like you added a conversation in, in the previous chapter?

Author's Response:

Yes, I added bits of dialogue here and there in this chapter - especially the beginning.

The original novel picks up while Carlisle is splinting Seth's shoulder, and I wanted to show more of the 'steps' taken to get to that point.

I definitely thought the conversation about Bella's pregnancy was a good one. I'm glad you put it in there. I really enjoy reading this. It's nice to read something from a different view point. And as for Alice... I really have to agree about the significance between Alice, and 'Alice in Wonderland', simply because it's Alice and it just makes sense. So...great chapter.

I'm pretty excited to see a few selected parts of Breaking Dawn in Edward's prespective. One of them being...actually, this chapter, & especially when they end up back at the main house and Emmett's being an idiot (oh, but I love Emmett all the same). Another is definitely the fight - when the Volturi makes their 'move'. Unfortunately, there was quite a few parts that I wanted to read before these chapters.

The main one was at the wedding when Tanya showed up; huggin' Edward and telling him she missed him. Seriously? Or at least, I think that's what happened. I haven't read BD in forever :]  & then I've always been curious to see what Charlie was thinking during a lot of their interactions.

But, thankfully... I get to see what Charlie is thinking when the stupid dog tells him about the Cullen's; I'm looking forward to that!

But thanks for writing this.
It's very well written, and obviously an amazing read.

Ahahahahahaha. I hate Jacob.

"But I never in my wildest imaginings even considered the possibility that he and I would somehow end up related."  - Funny!

I like how you tied the whole "She's my midnight sun" in there. Very clever. :]

Hello

Just want to say - this is brilliant - please finish it   :o)

Thank you

Author's Response:

Thank you very much!

I am working on the next chapter. Hopefully, it will come together very soon.

I am so glad you updated and I absolutely love what you have written here. I love the extras you put into Irina and Jane. I think seeing or rather hearing everything threw Edward's mind just make this even more of and incredible scene and story. I can not wait for you continue. I have been dying since I read BD to know all the thought and behind the scene things that brought Alice back into play and I know you will not disappoint with that, even if we have to be patient. Thank you for writing this- it is truly incredible!!!!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!

And yes, I appreciate your patience. Though I knew going into these last chapters that it wasn't going to be easy, I don't think I really expected this...undercurrent with each tiny, almost insignificant reaction from all the characters. There is a LOT happening beneath the surface, and I'm doing my best to try and interpret that through Edward's eyes.

Irrational, I know. But I bid farewell to rational thought the instant Bella Swan walked into that Biology classroom three years ago.

That sentence, right there, sums up Edward Cullen to me as no other person has been able to. It's perfect!

Author's Response:

Thank you! :D

Edward has such an enormous amount of pressure on him.  Not only does he need to protect Bella and Renesmee from harm, but he is responsible for reacting to the strategies and intentions of all the voices that assualt him.  He holds the fate of not only the Cullens in his hands, but all the witnesses who have become friends to them as well.  He handles himself with a dignity that Aro admires and Caius resents because he himself isn't so suave.  Without all those years of self imposed torture, Edward probably wouldn't have been able to handle this moment.  I love how you wrote this!

Author's Response:

Yes, I completely agree. To all of the above.

And thank you!

Reviewer: rhodac (Signed) · Date: July 21, 2009 03:24 AM · On: Awakening

You've done a phenomenal job with this story from Edward's perspective. It flowed beautifully and really fulfilled the voids that the original book had. Great job!

Will we see any new chapters?? Can't wait!

Author's Response:

Thank you!

I am working on the next chapter. I really hope to have it together soon - I know everyone's patience is going to wear out at some point. ;)

Again, I am seething over this whole fight. Physical or mental, just having the Volturi near the Cullens, their friends and the wolves makes me.... *growls lowly*

And I did love the bit about Emmett. I could see him doing just that.

Irina... I actually felt sorry for. I never had before. Interesting.

And Jane, well, I still hate her. Still loathe her entire character more than Victoria. And I thought Victoria was virtually made of evil and cowardice. Fascinating.

Author's Response:

I'm with you there. I totally empathize with Bella when she starts snarling and thirsting for violence at the beginning of this chapter.

Hee, hee... I just love Emmett. He is perfect conduit for some much-needed levity.

And yes, my whole perspective of Irina has changed while I was writing this chapter. I was so ticked off at her before, and now that I've tried to get inside her head, she seems more of a victim than an instigator. I am actually sad and reluctant to write her death; she could have been so interesting.

What can I say? Jane is in a class by herself. Though I am really looking forward to the part where she realizes that she can't hurt anyone because of Bella's shield. That will be fun. :)

I didn't recognize any angst.  Plenty of drama, but not much angst.  Not that I'm complaining.

RSFTC: Get the hell out of Dodge. (imaginary Carlisle didn't like typing that)

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure.  We are met on a great battlefield of that war.  We have come to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place for those who died here that the nation might live.  This we may, in all propriety do.  But in a larger sense, we cannot hallow this ground.  The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have hallowed it far above our poor power to add or detract.  The world will little note what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.

It is rather for us the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth.

President Abraham Lincoln, The Gettysburg Address.

Now that I think about it, it's pretty ironic.  The tallest president gave what is among the shortest presedential speeches.

I can't write much more in this review, tying up the Gettysburg Address can even tire out a vampire.  And Bella is eager for some alone time with Edward.  Maybe Carlisle won't object to finishing for me.  *thanks imaginary Carlisle for agreeing*

RSFTC: You've built castles in the air; good for you, that's just where they belong.  Now build the foundations underneath them.

Not as much Emmett as I would have hoped, but every part you add makes me super excited.  I have been spending waayyy too much time with imaginary Alice, and imaginary Jasper is still playing imaginary chess with imaginary Emmett, so he can't calm us down.  And I have ADHD, soo.....

'Twas brilig and the slithy toves did *forgotten word* and *forgotten word* in the gabe

All mimsy were the borogroves

And the mome rath's outgrave'

This is almost better than Stephenie's version...  I MEAN IT!!!  *screams* *imaginary Jasper intervenes, finally* *Emmett cracks up, and accidentally knocks over the chess board*

Aww...

RSFTC: Most men are like slinkies: Useless, but fun to watch fall down the stairs.

Imp is one of many other Alice nicknames, including conniving little pixie, evil creature, and Tinker Bell.

I have also heard of Extreme Makeover: Bella Edition.

Alice cursing reminds me of that thing on page 58 of Midnight Sun, copyright Stephenie Meyer 2008:

A word I'd never said before in the prescence of a lady slipped between my tightly clenched teeth.

An example I would have used for the Jacob-Bella confrontation is a dog that has dug up a bone from under their master's prized tulips and expects to be rewarded.

I can't wait to see Emmett in action.  *hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge*

RSFTC: I used to be uncertain; now I'm not so sure.

Author's Response:

I love Alice, and I love Tinker Bell, so that's a perfect fit as far as nicknames go.

And Extreme Makeover: Bella Edition has a nice ring to it, don't you think? (My imaginary Alice jumps up and down wildly, squealing with glee.)

Yes, I had a bit of inspiration from "Midnight Sun" for quite a few moments in this story. I hope that Stephenie will finish it some day.

I LOVE your Jacob allusion; I'll have to save it for future reference. And Emmett's a blast. He brings so much fun to the table.
