This Bella seems a bit more in touch with her "earthy" side than original Bella, but a bit more realistic for a teenage girl.  I do worry about her sense of self-preservation though...she needs to think about the shredded leather jacket a bit more...

Interesting take on this story.  Edward's POV is absolutely on the mark.  You have captured his struggle very well.

This is one of my favorite subjects/timelines for B&E. I have my own story that starts out very similar, but it's closer to Breaking Dawn.

I just don't think there are enough fics from EPOV that deal with his bloodlust.

You know I just realized I never reviewed this awesome story. Very believable, and I can't believe SM never (before BD's tampon/pregnancy scene) mentioned Bella's cycle and how it could be an issue for our poor darling Edward. For a human story this could seriously churn your stomach in a bad way, but as a vampire bf/Human gf scene, what perfect sense this is!!! And the idea of Edward giving in to any temptation is just HOT HOT HOT.

In reality I must admit that he probably couldnt keep himself from killing her and watching that blue vein in her thigh and biting into it, esp after tasting her blood, but for the purpose of this story I still think your premise is brilliant. I can't wait till you add the third chapter. So interested in seeing what you have in store for these two.

Oh i have to tell you i saw Little Ashes last night. Is it bad that I can even get turned on by Rob when he's doing hot scenes with a MAN???

Thanks so much, Mariecel!  I'm so glad you liked this!  And I agree that in actuality, Edward probably wouldn't have been able to resist killing her at this point in their relationship, but that would've made for bad storytelling.  Lol.  And, yeah, I never would've written a "period" story that didn't involve a vampire.  The idea wouldn't appeal to me in the least if Edward wasn't a vampire, but since he is, I too thought it made sense that her period would affect him.  Someone told me that SM wrote on her website that the blood wouldn't smell/taste as "fresh" to him or some nonsense like that, but it sounds like a copout to me - an excuse for completely avoiding the (in my opinion) very obvious subject.  Anyway, again, thanks for the amazing banner!!  :D  You're awesome!

'Twimom,' that's cute.  :)  I suppose it's refreshing to know that there are other semi-normal moms like me out there who like Twilight as much as I do - and enough of them to warrant our own name at that, lol!  Anyway, I too read all the books in about two weeks.  My mother bought them for me for Christmas, and I positively devoured them.

After reading Breaking Dawn, I went online to fill the void that SM left by skipping over the 'juicier' parts of the story, only I didn't really find anything that was to my satisfaction.  Therefore, I decided to write my own!

Well, I for one am sort of glad to see something like this out there.   The whole vampire senses / teenaged girl who obviously has to menstruating by this point thing has occurred to me before, and yet I've not seen it EVER mentioned in any fic, lol.  I think people are scared to mention it, because - as you said - some easily-squicked people might find it in bad taste.  Similarly, it's totally to be expected that Edward would be able to smell her arousal, and that Bella would have erotic dreams.  Since Edward's mostly always there, one can't help but wonder how he takes that.

Honestly, out of the whole thing the only bit I had a hard time with was Bella's reaction.  I totally dig her waking up aroused and responding to him (who wouldn't?!), but I don't know that I've ever met a teenaged girl - with no sexual experience, on top of it - who *wouldn't* be self-conscious over the idea of a guy going down on her while she's on her period.  I'd have expected at least some embarassment on her part.  But other than that, I like the fic.  Well written and nicely erotic :)  I'd like to read a "non-compliant" continuation of this, actually!

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to review!  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  :)  In response to your comment about Bella not being self-conscious -- She was, in fact, completely embarassed and self-conscious.  However, this was written from Edward's POV, and he was a bit distracted, lol.  He does, actually, take note of the look of embarassment on her face, along with the arousal and confusion.

But despite initially being a bit mortified, she's completely willing to offer herself up to him because of her self-sacrificing nature and the fact that she loves Edward.  And then, well, she gets into it, lol.

I do have it into my mind to write a one-shot sequel from Bella's POV that takes place the next morning.  Maybe that'll add a bit of insight as to what was going on in her head.
