That really was a fantastic read...yes Bella was formal, but I think that would be expected considering that she is over 60 years old and with that comes maturity.

Well done with the Volturi partners. Their names gave them a unique feel to them, aged and shadowed. Showing just a little insight on their characters. It's like they belong there, lost in shrouded mythology.

All the characters kept the same feel about them which is wonderfull considering that vampires do not change their personas at a whim.

I enjoyed the little downplay of Emmett and Rose in the last stage a perfect insight to their relationship. It was enough of a glimps, sigh and return them to where they belong.

You wove an interesting story even though I do not enjoy reading about the Volturi, Marcus has always intrigued me and the back story though small was well written. Great work!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for that thoughtful and kind feedback! Comments and responses like these really are what that keeps a writer-aspirant going.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story, although I can take no credit for the names of the partners - they are all canon, and listed by Stephenie in the index at the end of BD. But thank you for understanding Bella' aged voice, and liking it regardless - it is a bit of a personal indulgence, and I am always very grateful when readers understand and can find resonance with it.

Thank you again for the feedback - it must be one of the most thoughtful I've received till date.

I like the story in part, but cannot believe that it would take 50 years for Jacob to convince Renesmee to marry him! Otherwise it was well told. By 50 years on Jacob and Nessie could be grandparents, if such a thing was possible.!  Now there's a thought.

To be quite honest--perhaps I was just reading too quickly-- I don't really get the big revalation that Bella had. That she wasn't a monster that it was okay to be a vampire. I do however really love the feel and the mood of this entire story, it was lovely.

Author's Response:

Hi there -

Thank you so much for all your reviews. I wasn't expecting to get reviews after having submitted this piece for about 2 months now.

You weren't wrong about not getting the big revelation - actually, there really isn't a big revelation, it is just the sum and product of small realizations, of Bella realizing that it is herself, and her loved ones, who make her who she is, and not her vampric nature. I don't think I captured the nuances of that too well, so it is not that you're reading too fast at all. *embarrassed*

And Tristan and Isolde is my favourite opera, largely in part because I love myths and tales from the Age of Chivlary, and I love the name of Tristan (Van Gogh) - I basically just transferred my own preferences onto Nessie's, and I must admit I am not savvy in opera, and errr, wouldn't have been able to give Nessie much choice beyond the very, very obvious (like ... Madame Butterfly).

Thank you for taking the time out to leave me feedback for each chapter regardless! I am glad you liked the story despite the difficulties here and there.

Oooh. Interesting. I'm suprised that Aro and Caius aren't more disconcerted about Jake. I love Bella though, she's perfect.

What a wonderfully written fic, Bella is auctually an adult in this, with complicated adult thoughts. Lovely. I love how eternity has changed her. Though I am suprised that Nessies favorite opera would be Tristan, I would figure her more for a Massnet kind of girl.

great story but just so you know Stephanie Meyer said that Aroe killed Didyme on her website.

I agree that this Bella is a bit more formal.  She also seems to be much more introspective and verbose.  I suppose this can be attributed to her maturing a bit with age and acquiring 50 years of knowledge.  It seems odd that she is the only one to have matured though.  Everyone else seems so much the same.  Even Nessie is still characterized as a child despite her 50 years and getting engaged at the end... It's all very interesting, not a bad thing though.  Very well written and I appreciate the time you took to proof it.  You're very talented.

Nope... Just as beautiful as the first two chapters.  Thank you for sharing.

Reviewer: giselle (Signed) · Date: January 30, 2009 02:31 PM · On: Part 3 - A Reflection on Nature

This is wonderfully done. Your command of the language is masterful and almost from another era (are you sure you aren't a vampire?). I especially applaud your portrayal of the Volturi and your willingness to work with what bothers Marcus. (I myself am working on a piece that will inevitably take me to a section where I'll have to write the Volturi, and I'm not looking forward to it! They're some seriously complex men.) And I agree that Bella 50 years post BD would inevitably become more contemplative. I really like her voice in the opening. I think it's quite genuine. Well done.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your thoughtful words! And no, I can only wish I were a vampire, although I will need to then find my equivalent of Edward - but imagine all that time to learn and to just be! I am so glad you liked the story, and found my depiction of the Volturi convincing. Thank you for taking the time out to tell me.

This fic was amazing. Seriously. It kept me stuck to my chair. I felt it and it was beautiful.

Reviewer: burnkitty (Signed) · Date: January 29, 2009 04:09 PM · On: Part 2 - A Reflection on Blood

Wow. Again. Wow. Tension brewing, I am glad Aro had the sense to walk away.

Author's Response:

Thank you - your series of 3 reviews, 1 for each chapter, really blew me away. It is amazing to find readers like you. Thank you for taking the time out to leave these reviews, and I really, really appreciate them. I am so glad you enjoyed the story too.

Wow. This is awesome! I am off to read the next!

i love it!! it was a real tear jercker at parts... (I don't know why) i really liked it.

I love the imagery you invoke. I can almost imagine strolling past italian cypress as dried needles crackle beneath my feet. And I love that Bella's internal dialogue is also given a supercharge by her vampire nature. It would be so, would it not?

Reviewer: historicvampirelover (Signed) · Date: January 21, 2009 05:38 PM · On: Part 3 - A Reflection on Nature

Even after the vampire party, Jake loves his imprint... he is redeemed.

Your writing of what Bella is thinking is lovely - I especially like her consideration of their constant closeness.

I liked it! I really did enjoy this look "thru Bella's eyes"

Reviewer: EverAfter13 (Signed) · Date: January 21, 2009 11:17 AM · On: Part 3 - A Reflection on Nature

It's a beautifully written piece and I enjoyed reading it. I think the way you matured Bella's voice was very appropriate. Great job!

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Reviewer: stargirl (Signed) · Date: January 15, 2009 07:04 PM · On: Part 1 - A Reflection on Reading

its good, but bella seems a little to formal.

she's talking like edward does.....but otherwise, you write rlly well!

Reviewer: eakullen (Signed) · Date: January 15, 2009 01:13 PM · On: Part 2 - A Reflection on Blood

I congratulate you on your display of vocabulary! The story is really creative and well written. However, Bella's mental voice seems a bit stilted. Bella always struck me as a bit more informal. However, I liked Bella's musings. I can't wait to see the next installment! I hope you post again soon!

Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked Bella's voice regardless - I was aware and worried about aging her voice, actually. But I am glad it worked. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Reviewer: historicvampirelover (Signed) · Date: January 15, 2009 11:17 AM · On: Part 2 - A Reflection on Blood

Oooh, such tension!

I'm looking forward to the post-encounter party.  I think my favorite here is that everyone is filling out their best selves perfectly, all relying on their gifts.  Great job!

Author's Response:

Thank you very much! I loved reading both your comments - they are so thoughtful, and so kind. Really, thank you.

Reviewer: historicvampirelover (Signed) · Date: January 15, 2009 11:08 AM · On: Part 1 - A Reflection on Reading

This is a mature Bella, one who knows how to care for her family and loves them very much.  I like her a lot.

I'm looking forward to the confrontation!
