I'm just discovering the genre of historical Twilight fiction, and I love it!  Thanks for contributing.  I'm interested in discovering more about the pre-vampire Jasper...and how things change with Bella in his life almost a century and a half earlier.

Thank you for your review. If you are enjoying this, you must check out "Only Human" and "Beyond Time." Both are B/E time travel fics. BT was just completed, but it absolutely owned me week after week while it was being updated. Both stories are fabulous.

I like this story so far, thanks for writing! It seems funny to me now to realize that whilst reading the books It had never occured to me that Jasper would have been absorbing everyone's feelings of bloodlust during the times when Bella was near the other vamps or in their home, the huge surge in power of those feelings would have been like an explosion for him when Bella cut herself. Again thinking of the books I must admit that I thought it odd that Jasper could tolerate each day in a school (how many kids hurt themselves in a school each day??) and being with Bella in the confines of a car, a hotel room and then seemingly be imune to her massive bloodshed in the ballet studio, but react to one drop through a papercut?? I always thought that really didn't make sense in the books, along with a lot of other things.......I like consistancy and for things to make sense, I love imagination but I'm analytical too, Haha!

Thank you for your review. These things certainly don't make sense in the Twilight universe. This is why I am so thankful for fanfic, because we can try to make sense of these inconstancies. In high school, kids are always bleeding somewhere in the building.

Other than my reason for why Jasper didn't react in the ballet studio (which if you haven't guessed it, will eventually be revealed), the only thing I can think of is that Alice warned Jasper on the way there that there would be bloodshed, and her papercut was a surprise. 

We just have to try not to pick SM world apart too much, as there are a ton of inconsistancies.

cor blimey! you must have done some amount of research to know all that! love the chapter can't wait to see Bella's reaction when (I'm assuming) she doesn't wake up from the 'dream'. eeek so excited -L

Thank you. I did do a fair bit of research for the story. I spent a few weeks reading memoirs and other accounts of Confederate women on the home front. I also studied some general Civil War histories and some texts specific to Texas. Then, there was also some heavy use of Google outside of the library. I'm glad the research has paid off.

So interesting. I cannot wait for the next chapter. I have so many questions...

Thank you so much for the review. I will, of course, read your story; I love any good Jasper fic. It will take a few chapters of this story for her to actually meet Jasper, but once she does, I, at least, think he's pretty wonderful and worth the wait. I am so interested to see how your storyline will compare to mine. This story has been kicking around in my head for a while after reading "Beyond Time," and Edward and Bella time travel fic. If you haven't read this one, you MUST. I spent a few weeks doing research about the war in Texas, life on the Civil War homefront for Confederate women, and 1862 before finally sitting down to write my outline.

The first two chapters are now up on both Twilighted and FF. I'm taking a little pause for the holidays (and because I had a baby yesterday morning), but rest assured that the majority of the story is already written. Once I take a short fanfiction "maternity leave," I will return to weekly postings.

intriegued. can't wait to see where you take this and eagerly anticipating the next chapter :)
