I absolutely loved this chapter. Incorporating a reading of "Leaves of Grass" into this scene was great. You've done it justice. It created a wonderfully sensual moment between Bella and Jasper. I love what's building there!

I agree with you on Jasper's age. 20 is a good number. For some reason, the extra 3 human years on him helps.
I'm definitely developing a fondness for historical fanfics. TKegl's "Beyond Time" was beyond fabulous and I'm telling you, your story is right there too! I like the idea of Bella going back in time to live a different life. There's one where she's actually from the same time as Edward that's good too. "Bella Swan: The Unwanted Bride" by tumblin' di.
I have a fic planned in my head for one where Bella goes back, but it's more "Peggy Sue Got Married" versus on historical:P For now, I'm have a Breaking Dawn alternative WIP, "A Strange Kind of Love". (It feels a bit odd pimping it here...but since you offered:P)

I loved "Beyond Time!" I also liked "Only Human" (a time travel B/E fic) and "Living Backwards" (which is an AH, E/B time travel fic, and even though it is AH, it is awesome and very Peggy Sue). I'll check out the other one you mentioned and those in your profile.

Wonderful chapter! Jasper is such a deep character...he has so much potential and you are definitely tapping into that:) It was also a surprise to see a twist in timing. Perhaps this is a view of what Jasper's life could have been had he not been turned?
Author's Response: There's definitely a bit of difference in the Saga and LoG time lines (Namely, *cough* due to the fact that I know how to research. Sorry, that wasn't very nice to SM, but someone should have caught the error's in Jasper's time line.).

Author's Response: I'm so glad people are responding well to Millie. It's difficult to do an original character in fanfic and have them come out well. I was especially worried about Millie, because she's definitely a major character in the story.

Another great chapter! I love that you incorporated Bella's dreams/visions. It always seemed like she had a bit of a gift there as well. It's also a very concise way for her to come to certain conclusions before she transitions to...wherever she's off to next;)

I like what you've setup here. Edward's my favorite, but Jasper is definitely next in line;) This particular point in time is a perfect place to veer off into an alternate universe.
I appreciate that you mentioned how it wasn't just his own thirst Jasper was dealing with at Bella's birthday party. Edward's alone could have been enough to drive him over the edge. I always felt for Jasper in that scene. I also like your depiction of Alice and her relationship with Jasper. The idea that Jasper and Alice were not truly mated and Bella realizing that things may be over with Edward due to his handling of her and their relationship is a much more plausible approach than others I've seen (i.e. Alice and Edward cheating). Maybe it's because I am an Edward fan that I appreciate this setup versus him never coming back after leaving in New Moon or he and Alice being evil.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Just because I love Jasper, that doesn't mean I hate Edward and Alice. I wanted to get "rid" of them in the nicest way possible. In terms of Edward, all I had to do was have Bella be more aware of the flaws in their relationship.

Author's Response: Galveston was lit by gaslight. There still would have been candles and oil lamps, but once those were burnt, there were no stores remaining to purchase new supplies.

I put the next chapter in the validation queue as soon as the newest one goes up on the site, which is the earliest I am allowed to do it. It is updated on FFN every Wednesday. Happy reading.

The thought of Jasper being in Galveston at the beginning of '63 fills me with dread... mainly because I know what's coming.
It's good to see Bella opening up and actually writing to Jasper, though I can just imagine her distress when she hears about Jasper's "disappearance" (well, there won't be a body...), especially as she will know what happened to him. I get the feeling that she won't wake up (or whatever) until after that.
Can't wait to read more!
