To whom it may concern:

As I understand it, the blossoming of conscience intellect is such that at any given time, a scenario can be interpreted in a myriad of different ways. As you may—or may not—be aware, Bella had a story to tell.

She told it.

It is at this point that the aforementioned scenario comes into play. In the spring term of 2008, I met Bella swan for the first time. In 2012, three years after her change, a horrific incident occurred. This event was so traumatic, so life-altering, that it broke my sweet angel.

Had it not been for the unparalleled cognitive prowess of our kind I might not have been able to save her. When she awoke, the reality of our past together had been altered so that she forgot the events of the most bloody vampire war ever recorded in the annals of Volterra.

Now, three centuries later, I think I am ready to explain what really happened. Please be aware: this is not the story Bella told. It is fraught with violence, sex, torture, death but most of all—it explains in excruciating detail the story of how my angel pulled me back from the bowels of hell and the brink of insanity.

After fighting for fifty-five years, Edward returned to the one place he could call home. Jaded and angry, he festered in his own damnation, hating Carlisle for his forgiveness and mercy. One day – in August of 2008 – Edward met a soul that was, quite possibly, more broken than he was. In that second, Edward resolved to save this human…no matter the cost. Fighting his bloodlust, struggling to regain his humanity and attempting control a new gift, Edward attempted to forge a new relationship with a human who had awakened the humanity which had lain dormant within him.

But not all is well in Forks. A new war is brewing in the vampire world. Unexpectedly, just as his relationship with Bella came to fruition, Edward was thrown back into the world of violence, corruption and greed in the worst way possible.  With the help of one lone human, The Cullen alliance must face and defeat the most powerful force that the vampire world had ever seen. Now, amongst the war and death that is ravishing the world around him, Edward and Bella must make a choice.

Bella's life was irrevocably changed by the vampires who left her behind. Alone in the world now, she finds herself drawn to another. Fighting for her life has changed her and now, the new family she has found will change her as well...

This story takes place about two weeks after the battle with the newborns.  Jacob is leaving Forks to get away from Bella and her impending marriage to Edward.  He stops by Charlie’s house to tell Bella his plans, but everything changes when he imprints on a very unexpected person.  This story provides an alternative to the epilog in Eclipse.
