Bella doesn't choose Jacob in Eclipse, but when Edward leaves her once more, she finds happiness with Jacob. The world isn't exactly the way it's supposed to be, but Bella is well on her way to her happy ending when Fate rears it's ugly head.

A demonic breed of vampire rule the night, but their numbers are dwindling. 

With huge bounties on their heads, a new class of hunter has emerged, Bounty Hunters.

Summary: Edward leaves Bella in Forks before revealing that he and his family are vampires.  Bella’s curiosity gets the best of her, and she spends years researching her theories and suspicions about Edward and his kind, drawing attention from unwanted and dangerous sources.  Can Edward find a way to save Bella from the Rabbit Hole she’s fallen into?  Set at the beginning of Twilight and then alternate universe. Like New Moon, he leaves to protect her. Unlike NM, he doesn't leave her to her own devices. AU

The day Edward finds his mate, his world grinds to a halt and starts spinning the other way 'round; this is true even in canon, though there it takes Edward many hundreds of pages to fully acknowledge it.  But what might be different if Edward weren't blinded by his bloodlust and hamstrung by his inability to hear his mate?  Would Edward and Bella still be the intensely romantic figures they are in canon?  What sort of ripple effect would occur from Edward's inevitable changes in behavior?  Would there still be a compelling story to tell?
