An Important Note for Those Who Read My Stories

First of all, let me make this clear. I am NOT pulling my stories to publish. There will be, however, some changes to where my stories are posted in the very near future.  Why, you ask? Well, the reasons are two-fold:

1. My upcoming original story is YA, and I feel a bit squicky about the mature content that is posted here. There have been comments on my web site regarding my fic, so it wouldn’t be difficult for someone to track down my FF stories.

2. This includes my teenage son, who’s now aware I write FF.

Sooooo... here’s what I’m going to do.

I will eventually be editing the content of my FF stories to remove graphic sex and/or language. The stories that cannot be edited (ie: PWP) will be pulled from my profile and “orphaned” on AO3. This means the stories will still be posted, but no longer linked to my profile. Instead they will be listed under the orphan_account author profile. This way, the stories will still be available for anyone to enjoy. Yay!

When will this happen? Soon. I’ll most likely begin orphaning fics by the end of the month. Editing will start mid-August, so if you’d like a copy of any of my fics as-is, I’d suggest you download them as soon as possible. All of my stories are posted here: http://archiveofourown.org/users/Tkegl. You don’t need an invitation to read, and you can download in MOBI, PDF, EPUB or HTML formats, so go get yourself a copy if you want one. Feel free to share with others, but I do respectfully ask that you not post them online.

So, to summarize:

These stories, which can’t really be edited to a PG-13 rating will be pulled and only available on AO3 under the penname orphan_account.

Cutlass will remain intact until about two weeks or so after completion. Then the naughty bits will be edited from it as well.

 

I hope you all understand my reasons for doing this. I get that this is the Internet, and once something’s out there it’s out there, and it’s like putting toothpaste back in a tube…etc. etc. etc.

I just feel more comfortable taking these steps to try and keep my less-than-PG-13 content out of the hands of 12-year-olds who might come looking because they like my OF - which is 12-year-old-friendly - and finding porn instead. I know that it's still out there, but just want to do what I can to minimize the risk.
