Sometimes, life kicks you while you are down.  But life is about the struggle and the survival.  Life is about overcoming the darkness.  Life is.

I am a life-long lover of vampires and Gothic tales. I have a Master of Arts in British Literature, and my thesis focused on aspects of Catholicism as found in some of the greatest Gothic novels of the 1890s, including the staple vampire novel, Dracula.  My dissertation covers the shifting definition of "vampire" and how cultural views on sexuality have influenced that shift.  My academic career is just an excuse for me to read vampire novels all day.

I am currently in the midst of publishing two academic articles on the Twilight series, hoping to bring my love of Stephenie Meyer's series to the academic community. I also write novels in my spare time, but...well, let's just say I would like my private world for a bit longer.

Summary:

We always expected a happy ever after.  We always knew in New Moon that Edward would return.  We always thought that Bella was the strong one.

What if we were wrong?

This story will cover Edward's journey through the depth of darkness, a hundred years after the events of New Moon. Rated for sex, dark themes, depressing topics, and the like.

Happily ever after doesn't mean that everything is perfect.  It means that everything works out in the end.  We just need to have patience.

Summary:

An except from Bella's diary, a hundred and fifty years after her death:

I can't remember my human life, but I remember the first day of my immortality. I remember it with perfect clarity, just as I remember every day that I have lived since. I remember the sights and smells that assaulted my vampiric senses as I opened my eyes to this brave new world. I remember his blood red eyes.

But I don't mean for this to be a story of my early years. I mean for this to be an explanation, a justification. Maybe if I write it all down, I can figure out where this went so terribly wrong. I didn't have a choice about my change. Fate had destined me to live out eternity among the undead. But I had been the one to love two men. I had been the one to break both their hearts and to destroy my own happiness. They couldn't live with what I had done, and neither could I. My family was gone...because of me.

How do you go on, knowing this?

A companion story to The Sun Refused to Shine.
