This story is now COMPLETE!
Dark Side of the Moon is my version of New Moon from Edward’s point of view. Witness how Edward agonized over leaving Bella, hunted for Victoria, faced the Volturi, and came to realize that with Bella was where he was meant to be.
This tormented story has been a part of my life for about a year and a half – and what a ride it’s been! Meant to be canon and in character, I hope you enjoy angsty Edward and his suffering during New Moon. As unhappy as Bella was during this time, Edward suffered so much more (I think). So be sure and crack open a fresh box of tissues before reading!
Thank you to everyone for all the reviews, especially to those of you who reviewed each and every chapter! Your support and loyalty have been the driving force to me getting this project finished – and I hope it’s lived up to all of your expectations.

I'm so disappointed to come to the end so quickly! But having a baby does seem like a good excuse. Congratulations! Also, I'm thrilled to hear that I'm not the only twi-addict whose hubby has no clue. :)

Summary: You know those fics where Edward doesn't come back and Bella forgets about him and five seconds later she's in bed with Jacob and none of it makes any damn sense?
Yeah, this isn't one of them.
This story picks up from the moment in New Moon when Jacob has driven Bella home after the cliff diving incident, right before he catches the scent of Alice. Only in this telling, Alice wasn't looking, so there's no sudden appearance at Bella's house, no Rosalie calling Edward and sending him on a suicidal mission to Volterra, and no reason for Bella to do anything but believe that Edward didn't love her anymore. This is simply a story of what might have happened if everyone stayed mostly in character and Edward's return was delayed. Yes, delayed. Because we all know that he was "this close" to coming back on his own anyhow.
So what would have happened if Bella had tried to move on with her life? Would she have found happiness with Jacob? And would Edward be too late?

Just when I thought the heartfail couldn't get worse!!!
I found this through a review on fictionators.com, and I really love it so far. I think you've stayed true to Bella as SM wrote her. I would argue, however, that while Bella certainly overreacted to Edward leaving in New Moon, she was never exactly suicidal. She loved her parents too much to hurt them like that, though she was certainly careless with her life.
Now on to the next chapter!

Title: Chapter 4: The One Option Left
Hard to believe this story doesn't have more reviews. It was actually one of the first fanfic pieces I read and remains one of my favorite cannon stories, which is why I'm re-reading it now. It's so easy to get frustrated with Edward in New Moon, but you do a great job of showing the sincerity of his decision to leave. Summary:
 "He's gone." It is something of a mantra for me. Edward left me in the woods years ago. It is hard to recall how many months I spent in a walking coma but one day I awoke from it determined to live all on my own and vowed never again to let thoughts of Edward and his wayward family wound my heart again. It seemed to work for a while. By sheer determination I willed them out of my heart and mind, until my final year of college. A gift from a friend changed everything. A simple CD downloaded from a webpage and burned onto a generic looking Disc held them, melodies of a wounded heart. From the piano Alice tiptoed and twirled across my mind brandishing her contagious joy like a sword into my heart. Other songs, seemingly musical representations of a family that was almost mine, tore into my mind and heart haunting me. It became an addiction for me. I listened every night. I listened on the long drive to California to my new job, convinced it would somehow end the pain with over exposure to emotions long since buried. Until one night my window was left open and dreams crept in and I cast the music away. But I was too late. Somehow it had called them to me. But my wounds were healed and my life in a new place had no room for them in the sunshine. The Cullens, however, each had something to say about my new life.

I'm really enjoying this! I wish it were a little farther along, but I suppose I'll just be patient. It's really well written and good cannon characters. I love Canon stories and try to stay as close to what I believe the characters nature would cause them to do in the situation they are placed in. I am trying to get there but RL can bbe tricky, but I am in the throws of the next chapter and it is calling for some length. It took three pages just to get the first sentence spoken...lol. Thank you for reading and for your wonderful review...okay you said really nice things about me and I loved it...;)

Hey, I know you have a gazillion reviews on this, but I have to add one more. Your writing on this is beautiful and heartfelt and real - I know from experience. My husband and I married young, got pregnant young, and I almost died giving birth to our daughter. I wasn't there when my husband first met her (though we did get to name her together) and I know he had those same, surreal, mixed up emotions that you describe so well.
