You know those fics where Edward doesn't come back and Bella forgets about him and five seconds later she's in bed with Jacob and none of it makes any damn sense?
Yeah, this isn't one of them.

This story picks up from the moment in New Moon when Jacob has driven Bella home after the cliff diving incident, right before he catches the scent of Alice. Only in this telling, Alice wasn't looking, so there's no sudden appearance at Bella's house, no Rosalie calling Edward and sending him on a suicidal mission to Volterra, and no reason for Bella to do anything but believe that Edward didn't love her anymore. This is simply a story of what might have happened if everyone stayed mostly in character and Edward's return was delayed. Yes, delayed. Because we all know that he was "this close" to coming back on his own anyhow.
So what would have happened if Bella had tried to move on with her life?  Would she have found happiness with Jacob?  And would Edward be too late?

Have I told you how good this story and idea really is. There are many different stories where Bella changes her personality drastically after Edward left. And of all those stories I have been reading I think you are the one that has captured Bella's personalty best. Many of the stories have changed Bella that much that if she wasn't namned Bella you shouldn't know it was her, but you, even if you see the big changes, you can find the Bella how she was shy, sweet and madly in love with Edward four years ago. With another words - I think you are the one that have captured Bellas character best.

This is a one shot accompanying "The Hybrid", but even if you haven't read "The Hybrid" I urge you to read this - it's full of lemony goodness!

AU set after the events of New Moon. Instead of staying in Forks, Bella and the Cullens left following the confrontation with Jacob in the woods. Then, ten years later, still human, and with the Volturi seeking to kill her, Bella returns to Forks, seeking the help of the one person she knows will never turn her away. Jacob/Bella, though there will be no Edward bashing.

Addictions are never easy to cope with and Bella is all too familiar with their destructive power as she struggles with the nightmares from her past. It isn't until the Cullens arrive in Forks that Bella realizes if she doesn't get out now, her addictions will stick with her for life.
