Another awesome chapter.......my body is all tensed up. I think I must have been holding my breath the entire time! I love the suspense, but I hate even considering who made Edward this way. It's heartbreaking and I can't wait for more!!

(and I started reading your fic because of AG)

Awwwwww.....other than the violent beginning, this chapter was so sweet. I love the progress they are making and that they are so connected they are beyond words and completely emotionally and mentally bonded. I love the intensity between the two. And WHATS UP with Rosalie's connection to him? Are you gonna explain that further? Its irritating......hate it. I feel bad that Bella wont be able to share 'her vampires' first night in a real bed. I'm lovin the story Michelle.....thanks for another great chapter!

Author's Response:

Haha, yes.  And it's not as bad as it may seem.. :) I promise.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the review! :D

OMG, I loved this chapter!! Its amazing how you are slowly building the bond between Bella and the vampire. Its truly touching and beautiful. I know you put a lot of work into each chapter, but I always get to the end wanting more. It really touched my heart when you described him sitting up and scooting over to sit closer to Bella and then laying his head in her lap. He really feels comforted, relaxed, tranquil, and hopefully loved when he is in her presence. I loved it!!! I cant wait for more.......thanks so much for sharing Michelle, you rock!

OMG!!!!!! Michelle!!!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! I loved it. Bella is so nurturing and yet vulnerable at the same time, its precious, timeless, breath-taking, beautiful, exquisite and wonderful. He finally spoke to her and then he wiped away her tears. Aaaawwwwwwww. They had so many wonderfully intimate moments in this chapter.....looking out the wall-sized window with her hand over his pressed against the glass, then in the bath tub as he leans up against her as she washes his hair, and lying in bed together with their fingers intertwined gazing into each others eyes. You are so talented and this chapter was amazing, I cant for the next one. (Btw...why isnt Rosalie still perched outside his bedroom door? And why is Jasper so angry?)

Author's Response:

Rosalie very well could've still been at her post, it just wasn't directly mentioned.

There was a fade out from when Bella got there to when she went upstairs, it went from being outside to her being in the bedroom, so I think it's fair to guess that Rosalie is still in momma bear mode.

The other scene was a family meetin', so Rose was of course present. Like I said, it's fair to say she's still in nurturing mode, but we'll see :)

Jasper will be examined more in the future, but for now, I'll say that it probably has to do with him being forced to keep secrets from the family. Of course, Jasper will stand by Alice and her decisions, but I'm thinking he's not happy about it. However, it's something to consider in future chapters.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks for the review!

I am so glad Bella's vampire is Edward. Good choice Michelle!!

W-o-w! This chapter was so touching. They are actually having a conversation. I never really understood why Bella thought he couldnt understand what she was saying in the early chapters. She has a pretty good grasp of vampires. And obviously she has full knowledge of Carlisle's history, all of the Cullens are intelligent beings that speak, so why did she think that her vampire wouldnt? I understand he was much more animalistic and raw in the beginning, but I would still imagine that he could speak and comprehend. Oh well, Ive been meaning to mention that for awhile.

The suspense of the tension among the Cullens is killing me! I want to know what Alice is seeing in her visions. I assume that something about Edwards future is putting Bella in danger, but I want to know more!!

I am so glad that right now everything is going well with Bella and Edward....squeeee!!! I am so freakin happy that he is sharing what he remembers with her.....its simply beautiful the way you have written their relationship. I LOVE IT!!! and I cant read a single chapter without crying.

Thanks for another chapter Michelle, I've been dying since last week. You are awesomeness!! <3

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you so much!

Actually -- the he only started to show his understanding in after he fed, so it's still entirely possible that he didn't understand.

Okay, not necessarily that he didn't understand, but that he was so wrapped up in his own pain that he just didn't register it. It's still out there, whether he was comprehending. Hopefully this makes sense.

I'm so glad you're still enjoying it chica! Thanks for the review!

Wow, that chapter was HUGE!!!! So much happened and it was freakin LONG!!!! I loved it!!! The connection between Edward and Bella is simply beautiful. Even though he has been endured an awful past of captivity and torture for 90 years, he still has it in him to comfort her! It's so selfless and loving; it makes me love Edward even more! (AND love you for writing him so wonderfully!)

So now we know that Alice has had a vision of Bella as a newborn vampire, but what is the other vision she had.......SUSPENSE.....UGH!!!! I understand Carlisle's fear and protectiveness over Bella...how would they ever explain her transformation to Charlie or would she just simply disappear? Your Bella is very different from SM's Bella and from what is happening now, she doesnt seem to want to be a vampire, but I can imagine that her bond with Edward would lead to that desire of transformation. It will be interesting to see where you take us with that.

I loved every second of reading this chapter, but I felt so sad when Bella woke up and turned suddenly and sat up suddenly; then Edward retreated, folding in on himself and then pleaded for her not to hurt him. I understand that his initial reaction to the unfamiliar is FEAR, but I also thought he felt almost completely comfortable and at ease with Bella, so why would he think that she would suddenly hurt him? Was it just an instinctual response for him?

Thanks so much for another chapter Michelle! I love your writing!

Author's Response:

Yes, there was a lot and it was long! So many complaints about short chapters, felt like I should throw out a nice long one! :D

I think you're the first person to mention the other vision! HMM!

There is a moment.. in "the sunset".. when she indicates she wouldn't mind being a vampire ;)

I'd say fear is his instinct.. protecting his body, all that. It's a safe bet

Thanks so much for the review!

Very nice chapter....a lot of pivotal things happened in this one. I found it very interesting that Carlisle's thoughts and memories of Bella calm Edward more than Carlisle's reassurance that he wont harm him. I was hoping that Edward would tell Bella a few things she had said in her sleep, but maybe in future chapter?? Please??

So, Edward's first time to go outside with Bella (other than the balcony). It seemed like it was possibly his first time being outdoors ever. And also his first experience seeing his skin sparkle in the sun. I really liked how you captured all of these moments.....very innocent and wondrous.

My TWO FAV parts of this chapter:
--When Edward quietly told Bella he wouldnt run.......awwwwww, those three words just made me melt.

--When Edward rested his ear to Bella's heart and then whispered "beautiful"......this moment gave me shiver warmly.

I am absolutely SHOCKED that Edward has never seen another vampire before!! Did he even know what he was for all those years? My next question is gonna lead in to a lengthy rant, so please be patient, haha. From the very beginning, why was Edward more "at ease" with Bella than he was with the Cullens. I have a few "theories"......since Bella is human and Edward has only ever known humans it was all he was familiar with, so he possibly trusted her more? (this theory doesnt really fit for me, because he must have been held captive by humans, which I think would cause him to fear all humans even more) Next theory.....maybe Edward didnt realize that he is in fact a vampire and so when he first encountered the Cullens, he thought they were the "weird" ones and therefore feared them? Another thing that is bothering me is the fact that Edward can hear the Cullens thoughts, but not Bella's. (I dont think you've stated that yet, but I am making that assumption.) It seems like his ability to hear their thoughts and NOT hers would make him more at ease with them.....thats the end of my rant......lol

I really enjoy your story Michelle!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us and I cant wait for another chapter.

I actually didnt really care what type of beings held Edward captive. I think I am more interested in finding out exactly who and why. I also just realized that I have been assuming that the people that changed Edward to a vamp were the same ones that have held him captive and tortured him, until I read this......."I didn’t understand how any human could’ve kept him for so long. And I didn’t know how they could capture a vampire.".....so was my assumption wrong or is Bella wrong?

This chapter was so awesome, Edward is making really great progress. I love it!! The interaction between Edward and Alice was cool, but the convo between Edward and Emmett was just hilarious....loved it!! Edward hugging Bella and whispering "Happy Birthday Bella"....awwwwww, that made me melt completely...so sweet and beautifully intimate, loved it too!!!

I'm so glad you're back and writing. Thanks so much for another wonderful chapter, you rock Michelle!!!

Author's Response:

The who and the why are very important questions!

Bella is automatically assuming that he was changed prior to being captivated because humans are not capable of changing vampires. We'll see if she's right or wrong about that, but obviously, I can't say just yet!

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Aahhhh, I feel a sweet relief not that you have updated. Your story is like a drug to me, so that would make you my dealer...haha!

This chapter was just awesomely sweet. I love the interactions between Edward and Alice, they are such kindred spirits. Alice is such a sweet person, but is forceful enough in her own to get Edward to progress for his own well-being.

I am so seriously anticipating the Volturi vist. Thanks so much for another wonderful chapter, you rock!!

This chapter was absolutely awesome! I loved every word of it (especially the descriptions of Bella running her hands over the curves of Edward's abs....YUM!) And I bit my lip when Edward placed his hand on her thigh...ung!

Lastly, I seriously teared up when Bella was telling Edward that she could find a way to stay. Great chapter lady! You rock hard!

I really enjoyed this chapter. I am intrigued to find out who left Edward in the woods. I am also proud that Edward tried to so hard to drink blood. Lastly, I'm happy that this story is turning a bit angsty again. I'm looking forward to following Bella's thought process throughout this conflict. Thanks for the update and another great chapter!

Standing Alone by right2write Rated: PG-13 starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 264]
Summary:
Banner"He's gone." It is something of a mantra for me. Edward left me in the woods years ago. It is hard to recall how many months I spent in a walking coma but one day I awoke from it determined to live all on my own and vowed never again to let thoughts of Edward and his wayward family wound my heart again. It seemed to work for a while. By sheer determination I willed them out of my heart and mind, until my final year of college. A gift from a friend changed everything. A simple CD downloaded from a webpage and burned onto a generic looking Disc held them, melodies of a wounded heart. From the piano Alice tiptoed and twirled across my mind brandishing her contagious joy like a sword into my heart. Other songs, seemingly musical representations of a family that was almost mine, tore into my mind and heart haunting me. It became an addiction for me. I listened every night. I listened on the long drive to California to my new job, convinced it would somehow end the pain with over exposure to emotions long since buried. Until one night my window was left open and dreams crept in and I cast the music away. But I was too late. Somehow it had called them to me. But my wounds were healed and my life in a new place had no room for them in the sunshine. The Cullens, however, each had something to say about my new life.

I own nothing Twilight it all belongs SM!

I am a bit confused about the lie Edward told. Did he tell his family that they were leaving so they didnt put Bella in any further danger and allow her to live a 'normal' human life without them? Did he tell Bella that they were leaving because they needed to leave Forks in order to protect thier facade?

~Cristina

Author's Response:

He told his family that they had to leave for her benefit but he did not tell them what he told her. They thought he had told her the same thing he told them. He lied to her about his feelings. Telling her he did not love.

Great chapter!! I am so flippin happy that you updated!! I loved this entire chapter, beginning to end. You've really laid everything out just perfectly. Ben 'pretending' to just want friendship and a "temporary" romance but really wanting more and feeling more, Alice 'hiring' Tanya for intel, Alice sending her messages on the napkins (quite hilarious!!), and Edward listening to everything....which leads me to my favorite lines of the chapter.

"I growled at the idea, but then smiled as I thought of her reply. No, my Bella was not like that. Bella, who at the age of seventeen had not even been kissed by anyone but me, according to Alice, still had not kissed another. No Ken…I mean Ben, better watch out."---loved it!!

"He was going to die, tonight."---hahaha! YES!! Go Edward.

Please, please, please update soon!!

~Cristina

Author's Response:

I am glad you are enjoying it. "He's going to die, tonight." Is one of my favorites too. I really want Edward to let go of this idea that anyone would be better for her than him. Hence why so much time had to pass \, he had to know they could not be happy otherwise. I played around with the napkins quite a bit before settling down with end product. In the original Alice and rose were the first to make contact and the napkins played a huge part in that scene. Maybe I will post as a one shot someday. LOL

I am working on the next chapter. Jasper is a complicated fellow then throw in the mix that he has to field all of Bella's conflicting emotions. Hm much more effort than Emmett and Bella scene.

Thank you for your great review.
