“I’m telling you son, they’re out there.” He spoke through a disgusting mouthful of pancakes, and I watched as syrup dripped from his chin and fell on the convenient little landing-pad that his pop-belly created, clad in a tight white undershirt.
“Yeah, I know.” I handed him a paper-towel, which he ignored, so I dropped it next to his plate. “UFO stands for unidentified flying object. And yes, Dad, they do exist. Do you know what this is?” I reached into a drawer and pulled out a potato masher, trusting that his nonexistent culinary skills would render him incapable of recognizing it.
When he shook his head I threw it across to room. “Look, there’s one now.”
He thought it was all a joke. Oh, how wrong he was.

I really enjoyed the buildup to the kiss. I love a straightforward, strong Bella! Edward has been waiting for a cue from her. Finally, finally she gave him a hint about how she was feeling! Yay!
Now, they'll be sharing a bed. Oh my!!
For the record, my hub refuses to wear the cute holiday ties!
Author's Response: Haha, I would hardly call Bella straight-forward in general, but she certainly manned up this chapter. About time! I'm sad that your hubs doesn't wear the silly ties, but at least you can admire Edward wearing them :) Sheryl already did the Polyvore for this chapter, and the New Year's tie is nicely incorporated, hehehe. Great work! Author's Response: Thank you! I know a lot of fics mention her, but she just seems too one-dimensional. And SM never did explain how Victoria knew with any certainty that James was even dead. So I figured I'd play with that a little.

I'm here from the review for review thread.
I like your writing, but until the last line, I was thinking it was a lot like other fics I've read. Your last line, however grabbed me. I'll have to read more later, when I have more time.
You seem to have a good grasp of your characters. Some of the dialogue felt a little OOC for me. But, otherwise, I think you've got it.
I have to say, it's nice to see a writer who gets punctuation and grammar!! Author's Response:
Thank you so much for your comments, especially the ones about the last line of the prologue, and my use of punctuation and grammar. I happen to be an English teacher, so I guess I'd better know a thing or two about the latter, especially! Lol.
Yes, I am very, very picky when I write my chapters. I proofread them several times before submitting them. At times, even with beta validation, a typo or two might sneak through. However, I've seen that happen with other writers on this site, as well.
I'm wondering why you feel that some of the dialogue is OOC. Well, it's true that each fanfic author injects part of themselves into these beloved characters, albeit unconsciously, of course. I wish you had pointed out specific examples in which you felt the dialogue was out of character.
