Summary: 
Summary: It is the year 1353. Europe has been ravaged by the plague, and millions died. Now the scourge has ended and religion is flourishing. To thank God for their deliverance, or to atone for the sins of their dead loved ones, many people will go on pilgrimages, either to near or far away destinations. We will follow a number of such pilgrims, willing to worship at San Marcus’ shrine. But, things are not always what they seem. The handsome young monk leading them is very pale under his cowl, and he appears to be fasting all the time. Plus, all of them have secrets and very few are innocent. Will they find love or death at the end of the journey?
This is a Pre Twilight AU story. It is rather dark and there are no Edward and Bella, obviously. Feel like reading it all the same? I hope so, because I promise you a passionate love story, despite the setting. The rating is NC 17, for violence, sex and, just in one case, slash.
Each chapter will be decorated with the appropriate image. Unfortunately there is a rule I can only post the links. I do hope you will click on them. They are part of the story too.

Ice is bad no matter what shoes you have on! Just remember to shuffle if you suspect ice, don't lift your feet! And if you have rubber soled shoes, place a plastic Baggie on over your socks before putting your shoes on, it keeps your feet from getting wet, and keeps them warmer too! Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Alina
Poor Adso! He wanted to keep her, and he wanted to keep her safe and couldn't do both at this time! So he gets what he wishes for, but then is devastated! I'm sure a good meal will make him feel better until he can do something about it! As for his Christmas card, that is a fine pig in the picture with him! And personally, I think Guerrino might actually deserve his fate. Or was he the pig in the card? Have a wonderful Christmas! I just had my family here making the ravioli for Christmas day, and I need to turn them over (all 1200 of them) tonight so they can dry properly! Even my kids don't want to help me!
Author's Response: My God, 1200 ravioli. I am amazed. How many people are you hosting?For Christmas Eve I only will have my son's small family of 3 so I have not a lot to prepare. (the only issue is that little Jacopo has a cold, but I hope he will be well enoght to come from Milan. Then the 25th I'll have a lot of relatives but for a Christmas tea, so there will be finger foods and drinks. Easier.
As for the boar, all will become clear two chapters from now. Adso is in for another surprise. Thank you a lot and Marry Christmas!

I can't wait to see what he says! So, does he wonder if Aro will read Vanna's thoughts and wonder about the lie he told her? He tells many lies, true, but this one would seem peculiar to Aro.
Author's Response: He will make sure that Aro will not be the one who dines on Vanna (In fact we already know that he will bring Bonizella to his master). But he is walking on a razor's edge .... and more dangerous secrets will be sitting in his mind, should Aro read him..

I don't actually think I ever eagerly awaited an epilogue before, but being that there are so many ways you can surprise us, I can't wait! I'm glad that Alina didn't decide to live out her life with him as a human, though I could understand if she did. Religious values and spirituality were much more ingrained to the point that people were shunned for not following them back then! Not like the society Bella was raised in! Looking forward to the end... Author's Response: Ha, but the situation was untenable, as I tried to explain. She had to make that choice and Adso is not Edward ...
