Summary:

Parachutist2

This is The Parachutist’ sequel.

It is the summer of 1945 and the war in Europe has ended. Despite his transformation in a vampire, Edward has found his love again, has prevailed over his bloodlust and they have married. Now he is going back to America with his human bride, where they’ll join Carlisle’s family. How will be their life with the Cullens, when will it be the right moment for Bella’s transformation? Will the Volturi discover them, will they face new dangers?

This story is rated NC 17, as there will be sex and some violence. I am not going to put warnings on individual chapters. If you are under age you should not be reading it.

Blinkie ONNW

Raum made this beautiful blinkie for me

Make haste, my love, my soul, make haste and come back to me. It is time.

Bella's eyelids flutter open…

I live so close to Doylestown, I will have to make a trip to see this castle! It seems as though Edward, Bella, and the Cullens may part ways soon. I would like to see this! Good luck on the awards!

Author's Response:

You must go, absolutely. It's a beautiful area too. Yes, E&B are going to NY and try  to live normally, like two students. But, is it possible?

Thank you very much for the review.

I really enjoyed Edward's champagne discovery, I like that he can find ways to enjoy his new life by encompassing habits of the old! Only one small correction, the drinking age in the U.S. didn't change to 21 until around 1983. It was 18 then went to 19 for about a year and then became 21. There was, of course, a lot of dissension about this as no one thinks that someone should be allowed to serve and die for their country and not be able to order a drink at a bar! But, lobbyists for insurance companies and other interests pushed on congress to force the changes because of the high rate of drunk driving accidents among the age group. I didn't really mean to give you a history lesson, but I thought you might find it interesting. And I'm glad that Bella stood her ground with Rosalie. I always thought she was very centrist with her views. Not everyone has the same priorities as her!

Author's Response:

Oh my - I asked every American I know about drinking age at the time I and was positively told that in Pennsylvania it was like that (21). I did not think it was a Federal thing, the same rule in all States, though. Well, what is done is done, here.

Yes, after Bella has metaphorically slapped her face Rosalie attitude will improve a lot. I plan for her to play a great role later in the story.

Thank you very much, as usual.

Okay Camilla, I had to look that up and your friends were absolutely correct, Pennsylvania was always 21! I grew up in New York, and while I know that the age is State controlled, the federal government has their way to bully the states into doing what they wanted, and at the time they withheld money for road repair and upgrades until the state fell in line! So, mea culpa!

Author's Response:

Thank you, thank you for telling me (mopping my brow) I hated the idea of being inaccurate, particularly after the research I put on details (I am a nerd like that). Yes, the Quakers State has alway been stricter. My American step sister, working for a foundation in Philadelphia, made the mistake (after a work trip) to present a reimbursement request  not onlly for food but for a beer. She was given that bill back with a petrifying glare.

Love it! I'm excited to see how they are going to fit into this family. Edward has pretty much lived on his own or with Bella since he was changed, so he hasn't had to constantly deal with invading thoughts!

Author's Response:

Yes, a mind reading character is hell to write, because you shoul do a doubled dialogue, which is ackward, so I'll write thoughts only when they diverge from what is said. And this story will have many different PoVs and even no PoVs, when a certain other character will pop up, in the last chapters (and the story, I hope, will become really thrilling).  Thank you very much for r&r.

So is that why I over cook for any amount of company, and drive my family crazy with cleaning and decorating? Good to know! I loved that they argued, shows that they have depth! Now he's more aware of her needs and can give her a timeline perhaps?

Author's Response:

Ha, not there yet. He may try to give her a more normal life, and he will, but for the rest... not there yet. Thank you, as usual.

I have to admit that Edward's methods were unconventional, but effective! He could probably talk me into anything like that!

Author's Response:

Hi there. Yes, Canon Edward wouldn't have done it, I think. Thank you for the review. I really appreciate that you are commenting every time.

So, Edward is still feeling like a monster despite the fact that Bella would probably be angry at him for thinking it! I know she will guide him out of his depression! A story rec for you; In Vain by Bratty-Vamp on ff. It is a vampire Edward, but quite a twist on the original story line!

Author's Response:

In The Parachutist I had Edward saying to himself that he dreaded the idea to go back to his home in Philadelphia ,so it was logical that he broke down when he did it. This was one of the chapters I had in mind originally. I did not think to write a sequel, I just wanted to include a few more chapters. Then I realized that my story had to stop with the flight to America, it was a natural conclusion, so the idea of a sequel was born.

Thank you for the review and for the suggestion!

Interesting! She's like the vampire whisperer! I can't wait to see how you tweak the shield! Will she have some type of suggestive power as well?

Author's Response:

Oh, her latent power will come into play toward the end of the story ... and win the day. Thank you, as usual.

I really love the idea of Edward as sexually forward as you portray him. He seems far more relaxed about societies propriety than his canon counterpart! As for this meeting with Eleazar, well, I think Edward can be very persuasive when he needs to be, and also efficient. So I have faith that he will make a friend. And I can't believe that long play records came about in the late forties! I wonder how they recorded sound for movies and television prior to that?

Author's Response:

This Edward was born in the roaring '20s, not in 1901, plus, as I wrote in the early chapters of The Parachutist, his father was not a prude either, having given him The Talk in a way that was different from the usual ones. He described not only the mechanics of sex, but spoke also of passion and true love. So Edward was raised believing both in soulmates (therefore he kept himself chaste until he found his) and in the fact that nothing is  forbidden or dirty between people whoi love each other. Yes, I tried to build an Edward that is even better than the SM one...

I don't know if you read Carmen's story when I posted it as a future take (now I have removed the 2 chapters, since I'll post the here), but I made of her and Eleazar two important characters in the sequel.

I remember the hard 78 groves records, as my family had kept them and still played them while I was a little girl. To listen to, say, an opera  you needed like 6 of them or more...

Thank you, as usual.

Well, that was tense! I can't wait to see if Eleazar has left the guard and what he will say about Bella! Will he mention her talent? I wonder if two way radios were yet invented? I will be in your neck of the woods next week, I'm so excited for my first trip to Rome! All your little tidbits about life there has made it feel more connected to me!

Author's Response:

Did you read my Eros and Psyche? I say it because it is a story also set in Rome (In the 17th century and today) and the places described are all there, starting with San Clemente.  I even posted photos on the chapters. One place I did not mention is Santa Cecilia, in Trastevere, my favorite place to understand Rome. History in vertical.  Cecilia was a patrician who was martyrized (beheaded) along with her husband, whom she had converted. No cyrcus for them, theirs was a good family. For this reason the memory was not lost and their house is still existing, under the church, or better, under different churches that were build, till the present late Renaissance one. In the 16th century there was an archeological exploration and Cecilia's body was found, buried under the Roman house. Air tight, the body, lovingly recomposed, was preserved intact (or so they say, albeit it probably  crumbled once the tomb was opened). In any case a sculptor, Maderno,  was present and then sculpted what he had seen. The statue is in the middle of the upper church and is one of the most beautiful and moving things I know.

Coming back to ONW, Eleazar will prove to be the nice guy we know, and  the story of him and Carmen will be told. No, he can's sense Bellas talent, just because she he a powerwful shield.

Enjoy you trip.

I'm finally able to catch up! I'm so glad you continued Carmen's tale, it was wonderful and I like having these plausible backstories in my head! And thank you again for a great afternoon! My husband and I will never forget it!

Author's Response:

Thanks to you, dear. There will be a bit more of Carmen in a future chapter...

Well, if there is a location for relaxation and wonder, Banff is it! I think that it would be a wonderful gift for Edward, and I could see how it could draw baser instincts, of which he would not act. Well done, very erotic.

Author's Response:

Well, nice as he is, it was good to remember that Edward IS a vampire, after all. He comes out so lovely from my keyboard that even I tend to forget it, LOL.

Hmm, will he attempt to seduce Bella? Will she be his singer? I'm thinking he will cause a bit of trouble!

It looks like that, doesn't it? It has been so good to hear from you again.

I'm hoping she does knock her down a peg or two! I've always wanted to see Bella confront Tanya! Incidentally, I've been trying to find that book you showed me, but must not remember the title correctly. Can you enlighten me again? Thanks!

Author's Response:

Tanya is going to be punished, yes, but ... by somebody unexpected.

I hope you refer to The Vampire Tapestry by Suzy Mckee Charnas  - the only vampire story I really loved before Twilight. Even if Edward Weyland is not Edward Cullen

So, does the family know why Ives departed so abruptly, was that part of their unease? Without any of the extrasensory vampires present, it seems as if they have left Bella in quite a precarious situation. I'm sure Edward will not be pleased! As to who is at the door, I'm going to guess Irina, who is maybe trying to keep Ives around by catering to his whims?

Author's Response:

Well yes, spot on. Indeed they should have left somebody to quard Bella. But the Cullens are used to consider their place in Alaska the safest place in the world and don't have any reason to suspect the Denalis. The traditional vampire they have seen with them had just said that he was going back to Quebec . So they made a big mistake. Thank you a lot for the review. I'll submit Sunday, I think.

I love the brilliance of his impotence being the reason he can't carry out his original plan. And I think, that most people who are faced with such an assault would endure the rape if it gave them a chance to survive. And I think that their significant other would also bargain with God, the devil or whatever to just keep them alive until they could be saved, preferring to have them back in any condition. You couldn't have written it better!

Author's Response:

And you could not have reviewed better, dear. Rape is horrible, but one can recover from it. From death there is no recovery. This is what I wanted to convey, and you tell me I succeeded. Thank you, as usual.

I don't think Bella will be horrified at Yves' beheading. As you have pointed out, she has seen unspeakable horror in the war, she would have killed him herself if she could! And that is what I think she will say! As for the two "ladies", I can't see how they could remain friends. They can't really mete out a punishment, and they can't ever really trust them again. I'll be interested to see how you resolve that!

Author's Response:

I'll differentiate between the two so called ladies, you'll see...  (Hell, when asked a direct question I have to fight with myself not to give away spoilers..).

Thank you, as usual. When, some months for now, I'll start with my new story The Pilgrimage (Historical, dark, traditional vampires, no Edward and Bella) I wonder if you 'll like it enough to be a wonderful reviewer as you have been for ONW)

Should have killed her while they had the chance! Now, will Edward finally realize he's been borrowing time? What will Aro do about the talents he will find? Maybe you will write a threequel?

Author's Response:

Before the trequel I have other fishes to fry... I am deep in my medieval vampires at the moment. But, before this sequel ends I will give to my readers a glimpse of the future.

Oh, btw, after July 8th it will be possible to vote for 3 of my stories nominated for the Shimmer Awards. I'll put a reminnder in the next chapter.

Ciao and many thanks as usual.

What to say now? It was a great story and I can't wait to see where you place the epilogue. I know that you (and I) liked that Bella was able to have a child in the series as a reward to all the struggles that the couple endured time and again, what do you feel will be Bella and Edward's legacy for their struggles here? Not that eternal life and happiness together isn't enough...!

Author's Response:

I don't know, much as I liked the idea in BD, a hybrid baby did not fit in my story. So they have not had one. Even more than the Canon Bella, my Bella did not want a baby, she clarified it to Rosalie and in fact she and Edward practiced birth control, just in case. If I go back to them with future takes, who knows, they too could adopt. But it is not something I have thought about. For sure, after the epilogu,e I am leaving them to their happiness, for a long time, if not forever. I am totally owned by the new story I am writing, creating two lovers who are original chracters and are coming out well, if I say so myself. It will take months before I post, though. I hope that you'll like the Pilgrimage too, even if it will be so different from The Parachutist.

Thanks a lot for coming with me in this journey.

Some daunting scenarios in the future indeed! Let's hope our patriot Edward is in court standing up for wrongly accused friends and against hysteria and not the accused himself! Can't wait to read the new story! Thanks for the entertainment and good luck in the awards!

Author's Response:

Who knows, I might write some more about that period ... but for the moment my medieval story owns me. Thank you so much for travelling with me and my beloved Parachutist...
