I'm a married mother of 3 children. I have a B.A. in History of UNC-Chapel Hill. I'm a financial researcher by day. My writing experience until now has been wedding/baby/birthday party invitations, PTO newsletters, letters to politicians when I don't like what they are doing, and facebook status reports. I read Gone with the Wind when I was 12 and never looked back. I like books with lots of pages, lots of history, & lots of interesting storytelling. I was an Anne Rice fan during the 1980s and received a college scholorship partially based on an essay I wrote about the spiritual struggles Anne Rice's vampire faced. I refused to read any other vampire novels (except Dracula, which I had to read in college) until I saw the movie Twilight with my teenage daughter. I quickly fell in love with Bella and Edward and bought "her" all the books, and now all the movies too! I read all genres, but love a good romance in between more serious books. I've often come up with ideas that I thought would make a good romance novel, but being married to an English major who is now a high school English teacher, adjunct literature professor, and professional writer himself, I was afraid I wouldn't measure up. He told me that people don't pick up a guitar and start composing their own music, they start by playing songs by other musicians. He told me that fan fiction was a great place to start, and so, here goes!

Summary: Bella Swan, a young registered pharmacist from New Jersey, takes a job in the Forks, WA Regional Hospital, determined to start her life over. She meets the handsome, brooding Edward Cullen, who also works in the hospital's pharmacy...but on the night shift, of course.
Will Edward be able to control his agonizing thirst for Bella's blood? How will the emotionally wounded Bella react to her increasing attraction to him? Can Jacob be effective as a minor, if consequential, character? And most important, can Serendipitous refrain from the gratuitous use of hokey questions to attract readers?

Canon pairings; the Cullens are still vampires. Edward's and Bella's ages are advanced to their early-mid 20s, to give them more adult sensibilities. Other than that, the story parallels "Twilight," with some new adventures in line with the characters' ages and situations. The chapters alternate between Edward's and Bella's POV. While it's not a *funny* version of "Twilight," there are definite sparks of humor in it.

Title: Chapter 6: Edward, Chapter 3
I'm reading this story after its completion, so any comments I make won't be of use here, but maybe for others who write from Edward's POV. I remember 4 types of guys from college. The ones already in serious relationships, the party animals who flirted & subsisted on Hooters wings, the average guys who made friends easily with girls & were looking for a girlfriend, and the few guys who were focused on careers who also tended to focus on the "unobtainable" girl. (5th might be the gay ones-some of whom acted like # 4 rather than come "out". I think Edward's a 4th type, kind of like a guy with mild Asbergers-only he can read minds & knows how to fake his way through conversations! Author's Response:
Hello, Annalori! I do find it challenging to write from Edward's POV. I'm not a guy, and I'm not a vampire, either. *grin* When I wrote this story, I tried to keep in mind that he grew up (and was changed)in a much different era, which accounts for his formality and his views on sex. He does use his mind-reading ability to help him through conversations and tricky situations, but it doesn't do any good with Bella, because he can't read hers. I honestly think that's part of why he's so attracted to her. It makes it more challenging.

This was the first time I ever cried reading fan fiction. Very good emotional writing!
Summary: Edward leaves Bella alone in the woods after telling her he didn’t want her any more. As she is lying on the cold forest floor; Bella remembers three important things. Edward made a promise not to leave her, and Edward never broke a promise, and third it was her body, her heart, what right did he have to decide what was good for her? All in all Bella realizes that Edward was covering up his true feeling about her. Bella goes to bring Edward home.

Finding an available table, we sit down while we decide what it is we want to eat. Naturally, Alice keeps the conversation flowing. “How did everything go last night? You didn’t call, so I assume it went well?”
My face scrunches up, and Alice’s expression falls. “Oh no. What happened?”
I begin to tell her how I found Jake lurking outside my old room. She was a little hurt that I didn’t call her . . . until I explain how it wasn’t anything personal; I just didn’t want to talk about everything that had happened between Jake and me.
“So what did you do?” she asks.
“I called Edward,” I explain. “I guess I figured maybe he could act as some sort of buffer, and was hoping Jake wouldn’t talk about what he and Leah were doing behind my ba—” I stop talking instantly when my eyes find Jake less than thirty feet away. I’m immediately irritated, and I can feel the fury over his unwavering persistence beginning to bubble in the pit of my stomach.
Alice turns around to see what’s distracted me, scowling the minute she sees the source of my ire. “What the hell is his deal?” she demands, glaring daggers at him.
He’s just standing there, which confuses me a little. Up until yesterday, he’d have come over to try and make me forgive him. All of a sudden, he turns on his heel and takes off, but something still lingers in my memory. Then it hits me like a . . . well, like a fist to the face.
