Mid-30s guy with an addiction for fan fiction presently, and a slew of unfinished writing in my file cabinet and computer that I never seem to manage to complete full stories. Plots and bits and pieces, sure, but start-to-finish stories still elude me.

Aside from that I'm always over-thinking things, have a science background but love my fiction books... and I guess I'm a twi-guy being here as much as I am lately :S (I own the series and The Host as well). Also a fan of David Eddings and Clive Cussler.

Just starting an Education degree that'll eventually send me out to Middle and Secondary schools to teach math and science (mostly biology, probably).

Oh and my friends just gave me an Edward doll from the Barbie range (he sparkles! lol they didn't realise it at the time either) My Twi-diction is kind of a running joke for them, but their nice enough about it :)

I think "holy crap!" was pretty much on loop in my head along with "oh crap oh crap" all the way through that chapter...

I'd like to think that at worst, Sam is the one casualty that makes Jacob the Alpha who's able to make everything "ok"... but I don't know how close it's going to be for everyone getting to that point. The Pack's pretty pissed right now and not willing to "talk" so much as trying to egg on the Cullens into making a more overt attack :P

It'll be interesting to find out :)

well, well, that was quite the eventful chapter really :)

Amusing to see Sam & Jacob try for the "against her will" card - wouldn't that have been putting the police at risk of Bella going "newborn" on them all??

Or perhaps Sam was hoping for something like that to give him an excuse to bring the Pack in? hmm

Wonder how the next generations of the Pack and/or La Push residents would feel about being "locked out" of the rest of the world like that?

whew close calls there - I wonder what the Denali reaction is going to be when they hear about Sam's death; perhaps the Cullens can convince them that any "revenge" has already been served and the Pack is a different force now with Jacob at the helm. Even if it still means they all need to stay clear of Washington "forever"

that was still pretty intense there for Edward at least :)

I can see the Denali's eventually reconciling to a certain extent with the Cullens, though things may never quite be the same...

Looking forward to the epi - i'd say it's kind of happy-tears-bawling maybe to get all the way through writing your story :)

ahh always good to see Bella & Edward get their HEA :)
I can just picture the ribbing Emmett & Jasper would give Edward for his superlatively romantic gesture with the cottage & island - and their being frustrated by the pressure that puts them both under maybe? hehe
It's been a great ride :)

Summary:

Actually, I find I'm glad that B&E didn't quite get to the lovin' in this chapter. Bella was doing a pretty good job of taking Edward to task for his abandonment of her, when it should've been something she had a say in.

Looking forward to more... such as how Charlie's doing over the last few days?

Author's Response:

Yes, yes! She should have had a say in it - whether or not he would have listened to her.

And what's happening with Charlie and the town of Forks will be in the next chapter. ;)

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

awww such a cute chapter heading ;)

I figured Bella would HAVE to tell Rose, just because she's the closest "I know what you're going through" friend that Bella has.

I do kind of wonder what Alice's eventual reaction is going to be though hehe

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like the chapter heading, and you won't have to wait too long for Alice's reaction  :)

Well I'm slowly catching up on the recent chapters :)

Edward's stuck on a not-so-enjoyable trip down memory lane (to put it mildly), though hopefully at the end of it all, he'll be able to make some kind of sense from it.

I'm kind of torn on whether to be annoyed with Edward for letting himself go nuts like that in front of Bella. He knows her history, and his own fears expressed only weeks before should've been enough to head that off, but then, I've heard it said that NOT reacting in a "typically male" way shows a lack of understanding the situation as well :S

There's another long, hard road ahead for B&E, and the Cullens in general, I think too, since it looks like Esme at least needs some closure too :)

Author's Response:

I think that something snapped in Edward while he was reading the diaries and threw all sense of his usual decorum out the window.  It was a very un-Edwardian reaction, very self-centered, which is not his usual MO.  He would normally be focused on Bella's needs first.

Personally, while I was shocked that he reacted that way, I think it was good for him to lose it for a few minutes, a good freak out is good for the soul...sometimes.

Whilst it's sad for the honeymoon to be ending, I'm kind of looking forward to the eventual visit of Jake and Leah down Forks way :)

The conservatory visit sounded like it was very good for Edward to play out some of the emotions he's been going through lately... Leah's addition seems to have given the Lullaby a life of its own.

As for the BFF question - from the women I'd probably go for Bella (we'd have the reading in common at the very least), but the guy side (that I kind of have to flip around on these questions ;) is probably Jasper - Emmett, despite being a fun guy, would be too intimidating physically, and Edward's just a little too close to my psyche, Carlisle's too much on the academic front... I could handle that in a mentor/father-figure but BFF ends up Jasper because I think he'd be more of a balance to my own character - he's soothing and quiet. Being quiet is generally hard for me to do, that, and people are so used to me talking all the time that if I'm quiet for more than five minutes I get bombarded with "Are you ok today?" questions :S

Author's Response:

Hi Daylen,  I missed you!!

I need to apologize for the gender-specific questions...sometimes I forget that there's actually a guy reading this stuff. :)

Your reasoning behind why you chose who you did is pretty good...I can totally see why you chose Bella, and you know, you really can't go wrong with Jasper because he evens everyone one out so well.

woohoo Bella! I believe the phrase is "you go, girl!"? hehehe

I do feel sorry for Edward because I can just imagine that he's immediately freaked out when the girls started talking about the bathroom "incident" like that :)

Author's Response:

Yeah, I'm sure Edward nearly had a coronary when he heard them mention a bathroom in NY.  I know I would.

Assertive, sassy Bella is pretty cool.  It was a fun bit to write.

I wondered about the possibility of the pregnancy, but also suspected the irregular cycles being a factor too since it's something I've heard in relation to survivors as well.

It was somewhat amusing the way Bella kept wondering if she was dreaming (I'm hedging because I'm also kind of holding my breath to wait and see where you go with it next)

Looking forward to the next chapter.

As for the question and New Moon: I just saw the movie the other night at the local cinema's midnight screening (they showed Twilight just before, it was like going to the old double-features! Ah, memories :)

I'd actually say I enjoyed New Moon the movie more than the first, and more than the book even, the NM book was one that I've never quite been happy with simply because I never quite agreed with Edward's running nor Bella's too-quick acceptance of his return (after she rescued him), but oh well :)

Hmm if I had a chance to hang out with anyone from the cast, I don't know that I'd have a favourite or not, Alice is my overall favourite character, so Ashley would be high up, i guess, but she's not REALLY Alice (they ARE actors after all lol)

I wouldn't mind just playing some 8-ball/billiards with them for kicks!

Author's Response:

Poor Bella is in shock, I think.  After being told for years that it would be impossible, having it suddenly be a possibility would be a lot to swallow.  :)

I just got back from my second viewing of New Moon (we went last night and again tonight) and I really liked it...I don't care about the scathing reviews calling it mopey...come on!  It's a heartbreaking, angsty movie/book (which is why it's my favourite in the series), so it's understandable that the characters are mopey.

I agree that playing 8-ball/billiards with the cast would be a blast.  :)

haha I'm almost surprised that Alice's greeting didn't send Carlisle and Esme back through the gates... but then, they're used to it :)

I would have either dropped like a startled goat or run in the other direction if it had been me, but you're right, they are used to her exuberant energy.  ;)

It might just be me, but it's been feeling like the chapters so far have bee easier to read with the threads of humour that have been present. Even alongside the heavier topics of Bella's past and present situations, the "rest" of her life really does help balance that out, and it seems to be coming through in your chapters so far.

Having said that, I wonder are we going to be seeing darker chapters such as those in Branded, or perhaps less dark... don't tell me, yet! I want to enjoy the surprise hehe :)

Author's Response:

It's not going to be rosy all the time.  Trust me, there are things coming up.  But overall, Road Maps won't be as constantly angsty as Branded was, but there is still angst.

The intensity of Branded would be hard to keep up in the context of their futures, and would you really want to read 30+ chapters of Branded-strength angst and darkness?

On that note, I should get the next chapter submitted for validation.  :)

omg MIKE!!??

And there's the start of the darker moments, I guess :S

As far as my choices for B&E in my own head, I think I had people like Shiri Appleby (Roswell) and Holly Marie Combs (Picket Fences age) for Bella, and Edward well, I kind of alternated between trying to pick someone corny like a Zac Efron (he's nice and all, but as Edward he'd've been too sappy) and Chris Pine... mostly I saw myself for various reasons (none of which being that I look anything like RPatz... though many years ago I did get compared favourably to Christian Slater, which was nice at the time :)

Author's Response:

Christian Slater might have been a great Edward back in the day...he's got the tortured, brooding soul thing down (JD from Heathers...classic!)

I've never heard of either girl you mentioned, so I'm going to have to put on my snooping hat and head on over to google them (because I'm nosy like that).

Yeah, Mike...douchebag!  ;)

Ah I was worried Edward would try to avoid talking about it for too long, but thankfully my worries on that front were proven unfounded :)

Loved the hosiptal's reaction to the muffins and cookies that Bella brought to thank them for the presents hehehe :)

Author's Response:

There'll be a lot more talking going on in later chapters.  Your worries are totally unfounded.  :)

Thanks for stopping by, Daylen.  You know I love hearing your reactions.

I'm thinking Edward should stay away from the 'alcomohol' for the rest of the night if he's really that worried... whilst it can be a great form of liquid courage for dropping an initial barrier, it's not a dependable tool since it's too easy to go pear-shaped :P

Having said that, he somewhat redeemed himself with the serenade, and we know that he's at least talking to Victoria and Jasper about his memories. Now if he can manage to tell Bella before it becomes a bigger issue again...

Looking forward to it :)

Author's Response:

Hi Daylen!

It's so rare for Edward to get hammered, that I don't think alcomohol would be a huge issue for him, especially with his paternal alcoholic issues.

Edward and Bella will talk soon.  :)

AND THEN THE WEDDING!!!

aww after all that drama it was very sadly sweet to see Edward seek the comfort of his real parents :)

Author's Response:

I loved that he crawled into bed with them.  I think behind the man is still a scared, sad, little boy, and who better to soothe the little boy, than the parents he grew to love as his own.

I have a thread on the forums for this story now if you want to come discuss Road Maps or anything, really.  It can be found here:  http://twilighted.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=7737

ahh young love ;)

Bella's reaction to the hermit crabs was cute, my mum has used them as her class pets for the 10yr olds at her school to help teach them about responsibility... though I think this year they actually raised tadpoles to frogs, but anyways :)

I wonder how "contagious" Bella and Edward's moods/actions are?? hehe

Author's Response:

LOL!  The cottages along the Tidnish shore'll be rockin' all night if they're as contagious as they seem.  ;)

I hate crabs but I don't mind the hermits (although i'm scared of stepping on them and hurting them there's so many of them).

I have to admit, I held my breath just a bit when Carlisle paused on the phone with Edward regarding the baby-bump... I just hope I'm not reading too much into things given B&E have spent a lot of time in the water and perhaps might not have noticed negative signs?

On a lighter note, I was chuckling all the way through Jacob saying thanks to Edward for the effect he and Bella have had on Leah hehe ;)

Author's Response:

It's okay to breathe, Daylen.  :)

ahh so sweet I can feel the cavities forming in my teeth ;)

Sounds like I'll be needing them though, to chew my nails with worry at what's coming up for the honeymooners. Particularly when they get back to 'reality' :S

Just wondering, will we perhaps be seeing Emmett's response to the duck bums? hehe

Author's Response:

You are wise, Daylen...it's best to make hay while the sun doth shine.  We may be seeing some 'reality' sooner than expected.

I'm trying to remember if Emmett's response to the duck bums is still in the story or not.  I think it is...sorry...it's early and I'm still half asleep.

hehe sounds like the cottage is about to be shaken by the rattle of dice :)

Good to hear that your part of Tidnish made it through the storm, although not so good that any significant destruction happened... we've had a few nasty storms around here. The worst I've been present for was a fallen ceiling when the water got in under the roof and collapsed it. Right now we're having a heatwave of 40 degree (or more) centigrade days (104oF), everyone's more than a little worried about the chances of the hills areas going up in smoke :S

It happened twenty odd years ago, hopefully there's not a repeat.

On a brighter note - looking forward to more chapters when you've a chance, and Bella's proposal when she finds the inspiration :)

Also wondering if "Hope" might be on the list of possible names for Peanut when he/she shows :)

Author's Response:

*snort*  shaken...too funny.

Heatwave?  We're descending into a deep freeze.  It's COLD here.  Want to send a little bit of heat my way?  Not all of it, because 104 is uncomfortable!

Next chapter is in for validation.

Hope was definitely on the list for possible names for Peanut when he/she showed up.  You're just going to have to wait to see, thought.  :)

oh man! Ed.Sr's going to be cause a "virtual" problem AND a real one for a while it seems :S

hmm and Edward, really, WHO goes and scares their pregnant wife like that? not thinking things through :S

I suppose, at least he's not been going overboard on the cottonwool surroundings for Bella :)

As for vamps... Team Alice for me, though she might wear me down with all that energy :)

Author's Response:

Alice would definitely wear anyone down with all that energy.  You are brave.  Yes, she's sweet as pie, but man, I think she'd drive me bonkers after a while.

Edward had a brain fart when he scared preggo Bella; poor guy is probably still kicking himself for doing it.
