Summary:
Bella Swan spent the first two years of her life in Forks developing a friendship with Jacob Black that finally turned into something more. As she begins her senior year of high school, a new family moves to town and Bella slowly begins to question the path she thought her life would follow. Sometimes there is a difference between what you think you need and what you never knew you wanted. Takes place during the timeframe of New Moon and Eclipse. J/B at first, but eventually E/B.

Special Update:
For personal reasons (a ridiculously full teaching schedule and being recently put in charge of a bi-annual local conference and ongoing project), I am no longer able to reply to reviews and questions. But that said, I wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to EVERYBODY for the wonderful feedback and kind words that have been sent my way since the completion of this story in August 2009. I do still check my messages about once every 1-2 weeks and read *every* review. I just have too many to reply to anymore, but I didn’t want anyone to think I was ignoring her/him in particular, or didn’t appreciate readers taking time to leave a review. Writing this story was tons of fun and I’m thrilled readers seem to enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed the chance to write it. I can’t tell you how flattering that is!!! She struck me as a 17 year old. They're all idiots. (I can kind of remember that far back.) But some do make life altering decisions at that point. Like Bella jumping off the cliff and breaking her back.

Well, I've been with my husband 31 years. Of course he's seen me naked, he was even in the room when I gave birth to our daughters and that's pretty darn messy.
But bathroom time is private time.
I can certainly see Edward helping Bella into the bathroom, but not hanging around for the duration. But being close by in case she falls or something while she's in there.
Just how I was raised and I imagine Edward sure was raised that way. Probably even Bella was, too. Keeping in mind her character's parents had "traditional jobs" (Renee a teacher and Charlie a cop) .
Though I would guess, being a paraplegic, there have been PLENTY of people who have seen her naked, helped her to the toilet, helped her bathe, taught her how to take care of herself, etc, so she would have gotten over the potty privacy thing.
Both my girls have been in the military (one still is) and according to them, there ain't much privacy! You have to learn to deal with it. The daughter that is now out of the Navy relishes and rejoices in bathroom privacy!

I've been enjoying this quite a bit!
I relly like how you writers "fill in" some of the blanks. Such imaginations!
And your thoughts... expanding on Carlisle's love and feelings for and attachment to Edward. Fits in well with Stephenie Meyers' explanation of vampires not "changing", or making some change being extremely difficult, but when they do make some sort of change, it consumes them and becomes as amuch a part of them as their own bodies. Like melded into their own DNA.

One would think, that over the centuries, Carlisle had many "conversations" with himself about himself. His struggles with the faith he was brought up in and the teachings of his father. Trying to recocile that with the demonized creature he had become.
