Omigosh!  ROFLMAO!  That was excellent!  I laughed all the way through it but at the same time I felt bad for Mike.  What an extremely realistic delightful slice you've written here!  You've given me some imagery I don't think I'm ever getting out of my head either...I don't know whether to thank you for that or curse you.  :D  Again, wonderful, wonderful job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! :D I'm so glad you laughed and enjoyed it!

Sorry to bother you again but do you have an account on by chance?  I don't want to miss anything else by you so I'd like to set up alerts and all that.

Keep on keeping on.  :)

Author's Response: I do -- I'm Lazarus Risen -- but most of my new stuff is Heroes, and I don't post there that often. And my older Harry Potter stuff is just horrible. XD Thank you for the interest!

Wow.  I loved your Mike Newton story so much (seriously up there as pretty much one of the two or three best fanfics I have EVER read) that I had to check this out too.  This was intense, very well written and...well, I don't think I can find the words to describe the rest of it.  I admit that I do enjoy slash if it's very good (as this is) but I am one of those set in stone fans that can't stand the idea of Edward with anyone but Bella.  Still, I enjoyed this more than I probably shoud have!  :D

Author's Response: Oh, thank you so much! *blush* I'm so glad you liked this and the Mike fic! :D Yeah, it's a bit hard picturing Edward with anyone but Bella... but it's certainly fun exploring the possibility in fanfiction! ;) Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for the compliments!

Summary: Feature

It was said of early vampire books and movies that vampirism was simply a poorly disguised substitute for sex. Back in the day, the entire genre was considered extremely risque'. With that in mind, this is a parody of Midnight Sun replacing all the vampirism with sexuality - no blood lust - just extreme human lust. AH/AU and consequently, OOC.  Thank you to Debussy_This for the fabulous (and hysterical) banner!!!

ROFLMAO...I don't think I stopped laughing once while reading this chapter, except perhaps during certain steamy moments when I found it rather hard to breathe.  This story is brilliant, a perfect hilarious mix of humor, realism, and hotness.  I absolutely can't wait for more!

Bella Swan spent the first two years of her life in Forks developing a friendship with Jacob Black that finally turned into something more.  As she begins her senior year of high school, a new family moves to town and Bella slowly begins to question the path she thought her life would follow.  Sometimes there is a difference between what you think you need and what you never knew you wanted.  Takes place during the timeframe of New Moon and Eclipse.  J/B at first, but eventually E/B.

Fallng more and more in love with this story every chapter...I love how fresh and original it is...not just a retelling of the same old tale.  I'm on the edge of my seat now wondering where Bella and Edward will go from here.

And 'Calm down, Scrappy Doo'...LMAO - classic!!

Update quickly!  :D

Author's Response:

Glad you liked the "Scrappy Doo" reference.  It was originally Scooby Doo, but then when I thought about it, I realized Scrappy was the more annoyingly curious one...  Not that Bella is annoying, but she certainly doesn't need to be bribed with a Scooby Snack to go looking for trouble ;)

I am absolutely in love with this story.  It is so exciting to read and each chapter gets better.  I love your spot on characterization of Bella...the way she's developed after a few years in Forks is exactly how I imagined she would have without Edward's presence.

I love that I have no idea what is going to happen next, even as familiar with the universe that you're writing about.  Can't wait for the next chapter.  By chance, is this story on as well so I can set up an alert for it?

Another fantastic chapter.  I love the way that you are developing's different from how she developed in the actual book but that's natural - her life is different.  Yet her characterization still seems completely true to her and never rings untrue.

It's amazing how completely sympathetic I feel towards her, she's not making the smartest decision but it does really seem like she's been boxed in not only by Jake but by her own limited expectations and now she's trying to break out of that mold.  I can't wait to see how Edward fits into that, but what I love most about this is that Bella took the first steps on her own...she's not sitting around waiting for anyone else to shape her destiny.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

I love your Renee.  She's stlll here, but actually...motherly and dispensing some hard-won wisdom.  I loved every bit of that conversation.

And when Edward showed up my heart went pitter patter for the rest of the chapter.  It was incredible how excited I got.  Sparks was the perfect name for this chapter; I certainly felt them.  The tension between Edward and Bella is tangible and I am incredibly excited to see how the story progresses.  This chapter was the furthest from a disappointment possible.  As always, you rock.

I so know what it's like to be insecure over a chapter but you have NOTHING to worry about.  This was an extremely important transitional chapter.  I've seen many stories where authors make the mistake of rushing from action sequence to another with no emotional overtones and no story in between and it rings hollow.  This story is so well layered and that's why I love it.

Poor Bella; hurt again.  I wonder how bad it is this time.  She's in such a lonely place.   It kills me to think Edward is going to try to pull away from her but your Bella is one determined girl.  I don't think she's going to let him just ignore her.

And poor Jake.  I think he must know by now that she has feelings for Edward.  That denial was pretty avoidant; she definitely danced around the issue and unless he's as obtuse as the typical sixteen year old boy, he's picked up on it.  He apparently has decided to live in denial anyway.  Poor Jake.

I already am jonesing for the next chapter.  Can't wait to see what develops next!

Author's Response: I wrote you a much more intelligent response last night, but then the site crashed and it was forever lost, so you''ll have to make do with this one.  I'm grateful that you understand that I can't just jump from one big reveal to another and that it takes time to build up the characters.  Also, Jake is kind of in denial, mostly because he just refuses to believe he and Bella belong with anyone but each other, just like so many of us do when we're 16 and in love.  Thanks again for such an awesome review and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions on future chapters.

You know I read this like the salivating addict I am as soon as it was released but I had to rush so waited to review.

First of all, I heart Alice.  She is not always bubbly; I remember very clearly Alice from New Moon.  She definitely has a lot of layers to her and I'm glad you touched on the different part of her personality a bit.  I'd love to see more Alice in this story.

And  Break my heart, why don't you?  I mean, I always knew she'd been through hell but you brought it to vivid life in this chapter.  She is on the edge of a total breakdown.  I'm  wondering, in your Twilight universe, what becoming a werewolf herself is going to do to Leah (if you plan to have it happen.)  If it's going to completely push her over that brink she's teetering on or if it actually might be what saves her sanity.  Which sounds odd, considering that she'll have to be in Sam's head all the time and the agony that will cause, but being connected to something again instead of that forced isolation may be what she needs, and to be part of it all herself instead of just a victim....

Sorry, I'm rambling.  Anyway, and now Bella knows!  Yes!!  The end killed me.  I'm so happy you update about once a week or so or I'd be a wreck right now!  I can't wait to find out what goes down between Bella and Edward after this.  Can't. Wait.

I am dying.  D y i n g.   I can't believe you left it off there; I need more!

So heartbroken for Jacob.  I'm relieved it's over but oh, that was painful.  I wonder how his part in this is going to play out in the future.

And as usual, you're picking on yourself over a fantastic chapter.  I really feel for Bella and Jacob and yeah...I'm a bit pissed at Edward too at the moment.  I can not wait until she sees him again.  Make the boy grovel.

Sorry, I'm babbling - I'm in a mood and I'm tired.  I promise to be more intelligent when I comment on your thread later.

Author's Response: There will be groveling on Edward's part, though not at first.  Thanks for your review, and yes, I am evil for leaving it off there, but this was really a transition chapter (despite the big Jake/Bella break up), which means less of a big exciting ending and more of a foreshadowy, cryptic ending.  I look forward to hearing what else you have to say on the thread.  Your reviews are always awesome; thanks again.

Hey!  *I* like Nickelback!  What are you trying to say?  o.O

:D  Heehee, I'm kidding, only kidding.  Besides, I think my excellent taste in fanfiction should clearly make up for any fail taste in music that I may possess.

I so loved this chapter.  i think you wrote Bella's breakdown brilliantly...New Moon zombie in front of Edward's eyes.  And Edward...that apathetic observer! (ok, I'm sure he's really not, but through Bella's eyes he is).  I want to hit him and break my hand doing it.

I also, though, kinda want to smack Bella, just a little.  I love her (more your version of her than canon Bella, actually) and I really do feel and understand what she's going through.  I think it was very necessary for her to hit this wall and hard too.

I am really hoping, however, that Bella discovers that life does not revolve around Edward's feelings for her, or Jake's happiness, or even Charlie.   The pinnacle of her life has to be her.  I know I'm not saying that very eloquently, but I think you know what I mean, so I'll stop that before I break into the a chorus of Whitney Houston's 'The Greatest Love of All' and make you hurl.  I mean, I want Edward and Bella together BAD but...I guess I'm just saying that I hope that she has that strength and self worth in herself and that it isn't all centered on whether he wants to be with her or not.

Anyway, this was an absolutely fantastic chapter and I'm all fangirl excited waiting for the next.  And I so definitely want Edward's POV chapter...please?

Oh, that slumber party!  I winced through it with Bella, feeling exactly how awkward it was and at the same time kinda wanting to smack her.  Angela, at least, is a good friend, but just like in Twilight, Bella does not seem to really notice.  Still, she's in a pretty dark place right now too and it's natural that she be prickly.  Poor Bella...someone so needs to spread some sunshine on your bitter.

And the end!  Are you trying to kill me?! :D I hope there's an update SOON...I've got to know what happens.  I hope Bella isn't hurt too badly.  And I can't WAIT to read Edward losing his shit on an epic scale.

Gah, I am such a fail fangirl.  I am sorry this review took me so long.  I loved this chapter.  My favorite was the end, the confrontation with Edward and Jacob.  I just love imagining him slamming open that door, love the whole Jake pinned on the VW hood, but most of all, I love Bella calling them out and walking away from them both.

I mean, of course I want the girl to have her happy ending but it just wouldn't be right for her to fling herself into Edward's arms at that moment.  No matter how honorable his intentions were, boy's got more problems than a math book.  Alice calls it like she sees it and he truly is tragically retarded when it comes to Bella.  I hope they can learn together what it is to have faith in not only each other but most of all themselves.

Am so excited to see where this goes next.  I am very much looking forward to your upate.

Date: January 03, 2009 Title: Chapter 30: Uninvited

Ahahahaha....let the groveling commence!

And I knew it was Alice at the door in that teaser!  Go me.  Well, except I was only one of a large group that suspected Alice but let's just pretend it makes me special anyway.

Another seriously intense chapter.  I was irritated with Bella, I have to admit, for brushing off Alice but not because it was unrealistic.  It was because we're all so used to the concept of them as best friends and it's hard to wait for that.  It makes it harder because the girl is just so lonely.  This chapter brought home, once again, what an isolated existence she really has. Charlie loves her deeply but he can't relate to her on the level she needs, and she's disconnected from everyone else.  Having Edward and Alice for that short period and then losing them must have really shaken her out of that apathy and made her feel every single bit of her loneliness as well.  Dammit, I want Bella to reach out and to finally trust, but I know it won't happen overnight.  Still, I see seeds and hints that Bella may be open, without realizing it, to learning how much she really means to Alice and Edward.

And Edward in all his stalkery...knew it was going to happen eventually.  It's eerily romantic in a way, but mostly it's just creepy.  Someone needs to school that boy in wooing a girl in a manner that doesn't end up getting him a criminal record.

Speaking of boys gunning for criminal records, what the hell is Jake thinking?  What part of leave me alone was so hard for him to understand?  I've always been sympathetic to Jake in IVO but I can't stand pushy types.  (Well, unless they're over a hundred years old and 'tragically retarded,' then they get a pass.  Hypocrite, thy name is Ava.)  Anyway, he's got some serious growing up to do and I hope we see a little of him realizing what a huge responsibility his wolf heritage really is.

A big congratulations, by the way, on your Twilight Award nomination!  And thanks so much for the mention.  I am proud to be one of your original fans.  I knew this fic was going to blow up and it's well deserved.

Love Amelia's blog as well and will be happy to check out your recommendation.

Author's Response:

I meant what I said in the end notes:  your reviews really did keep me going early on in writing IVO.  No one else seemed to care, and I was pretty much convinced that I sucked.  So, again, Ava, thank you :)

Reviewer: Avalonia Signed starstarstarstarstar
Date: January 14, 2009 Title: Chapter 31: Relentless

“But then, I heard you, Bella.  I finally heard you.”  His eyes lost focus briefly as he dwelled in the recesses of his memory.  He repeated his sickening catchphrase, savoring the words as they tangled in his tongue, “You said you loved me—”

“I told you—”

“—three nights ago.  In your sleep.  You said it again.”  Edward breathed heavily, as if I’d siphoned the oxygen he didn’t need from his lungs.  “And I believe you.”

Comple and utter heart failure, right there.  You do angst so beautifully.  I wanted to reach in to the chapter and beat Bella and Edward both senseless.  Er...I don't mean that in a bad way.  I mean that this chapter got my heart thumping, made me mad, made me angry, made me so excited just to see what either of them would say next and cursing them for not getting it perfectly right.  Very, very few fics make me passionate.  That is one of the many reasons, but probably the main one, why I love this story so very much.

And yeah, I want Bella to get it, I really do, but I think what you've done is taken the mess SM made of Bella and refused to dance around it.  I mean, talking about canon Bella here - she was massively insecure and disconnected from everyone around her, including the mother that she was supposedly so close to.  How is it that she grew up in Phoenix and never made a single, solitary friend she liked well enough in all that time, no one to miss when she moved away? That alone screams red flag. The girl had issues, issues that could not be cured by building her life and self esteem around someone who both never took her feelings for him seriously enough and represented mortal danger to her.  It's why Bella never once consciously realized after Edward left in NM that he did it for her, that he could still possibly love her.  It's why she didn't even value herself enough to be angry at him for doing so.  She felt she wasn't worthy of him.  Having him come back and be the center of her universe again didn't cure any of that, it just covered it up, but IVO doesn't take the easy way around.  Bella's a mess and there's some things that she needs to realize for herself before she can ever have what she wants from Edward.  She can't accept his love if she can't believe in it, and she can't believe in it unless she learns to believe in herself.  I have faith that your Bella will come to do just that, and so I can be very patient.  (most of the time).

Brilliant and thank you.

Date: March 30, 2009 Title: Chapter 32: Hypocrisy

Oh, happy heartfail!  I was disgustingly giddy with excitement over this update, and it did not disappoint at all.

Even after the break (I didn't re-read; I'm saving my big IVO fest for when it's finished and I can print it out) I fell right back into your world and was with Bella every step of the way.  It was not until I was reading your author's notes that I could go back and look at her point of view objectively, because throughout the chapter, if she was mad, i was mad; if she was crying and miserable then I was welling up.  I wanted to throttle Edward at the beginning of this chapter and it was wildly frustrating to be in Bella's head and know that she had no real outlet for her anger.  I'm going to crib a line from my own writing and say that no one should be allowed to be that irritating unless they are kickable as well.

It really says something that you can take a reader from being as mad at Edward as I was in the beginning and soften it down.  It took me a little longer than Bella, since she's had days to process this and I've had fifteen minutes, but at the very end, I was so hoping she'd call him out of the woods.  Her loneliness, again, is jarring but I see rays of hope.  Having Alice around was a wonderful relief - Bella needs a friend that she can rely on and be honest with.

Don't even get me started on Jacob.  I may want to kick Edward but I want to beat Jacob sideways.  I know the boy is young but he needs a fast education in maturity, empathy, and self-control.  It's not all about you, Wolf Boy.  You don't get to shred someone nearly to death then angst about how you need them to understand.

OK, when my reviews descend into me lecturing imaginary characters I know it's time for me to stop.  Sorry for the randomness; I'm excited and can't help myself.  It is grand to have you back with us, just GRAND.

I don't think I can do this any more.  I cannot go weeks knowing there is an IVO update and not reading it.  I have been priding myself on my massive self control but now I am shaking like a junkie who just got a fix.

First of all, the recap in the A/N just cracked me up.  I don't know why.  I could just see it all so clearly, like a TV show:  "Last time, on IVO..."

And THE KISS.  OMG.  I feel like I am going to break into a Mary Murphy inspired shriek.  I mean, it was barely just a kiss anyway...they had a full on vamp/human make out session!  I love your Edward.  I see him as canon Edward (of course I voted for IVO in the Bellies) but you paint him with a different brush.  He's got all the necessary Edwardian traits, but he is not the condescending tool that would have pushed Bella away and shook his finger at her.  THANK YOU FOR THAT.

That moment was amazing, just everything I wanted it to be.  You write with such an amazing realism.  I could just envision myself there and imagine every little nuance of it.  It was a bit fumbling, like a first kiss should be, but so passionate and perfect.  Dammit, it's not fair.  Why did I always get stuck with boys who had cigarette breath and slobbering tongues when I was seventeen?

This was a great transitional chapter, not full of twists, turns, and shocks.  It had all these small moments that were made of win.  Bella's awkwardness the morning after, when she had her stitches removed and had to deal with the reality, once again, of her scars, (loved Dr. Gerandy's grumblng.  I always wondered how the hell Carlisle got away with just taking off like that.) The sparkling explanation.  (BEDAZZLED!  AHAHAHA)

Loved the bit about the porch swing.  How poignant. Nice juxtaposition between what it represented for Renee and Charlie and what it means for Bella and Edward now.

And I am dying, absolutely dying, to know what it was Edward wanted to explain to her. *happy sigh*

I plan on waiting very patiently for an update (yeah, right.  will be frantically clicking on my inbox over and over for weeks).  Cannot wait to see where Edward and Bella go from here and what will happen with that werepunk Jacob.
