Of all the possible scenarios, Esme being the one to end Victoria, was the last I expected! Wouldn't you know, good old selfless Bella would shield Emily! Of course she returned the favor nicely by shocking her back to life! What a situation! That should be the end of it, now the newborns are gone.

Since you said in that author's note that Edward doesn't come back until chapter thirty-five, I guess this means Bella has no way of knowing that Edward lied to her. This leaves her under the impression that he no longer loves her. Too bad, since I like them together, in the end.
