On March 16, 2006,  the World changed, and everything and anything that the Cullens ever cared about was lost. They had to find their own way in this New World. Edward never wished to exist in a world where Bella didn't.  Unfortunately, his family desperately needed him, so he'd stay to help them.   And by doing so, he hoped to redeem himself for his failure to save the one creature he couldn't protect. 

With rumours in the South of humans feeding off the living and stealing people from their beds, the Cullens have a responsibility to protect the ones they can from those monsters in the night.  This was Edward's last chance to fight for his soul and his salvation.  He would finally be ready to face Judgement day and be deemed worthy enough to be with Bella once again.  Or would something or someone change the path he was destined to go down?  Faith, hope and love are powerful things, and Edward is about to find out just how powerful they are.

Yes... this is the story that is set during a post-apocalyptic nuclear war. Just try the Prologue to get a feel for it before passing judgment. You might be surprised. Warning: There is violence and disturbing images the further the story goes along.

Emmett and Bella are workin their daddy's ranch. Livin in the middle of nowhere, they think there's no chance of love. Such is life. Then one day Emmett helps some people broken down on the side of the road.

I'd been dissatisfied more times than I could count in the past two years, which probably wasn't a bad thing. Usually, it just meant another long month of disappointment on my part when we realized the new batch of women were no good. We'd found several candidates that fit our needs, but as was often the case, they lacked that certain spark I'd personally been looking for. It didn't matter, though; I always had a lot of fun deciphering through the rejects.

It wasn't about promiscuity; it wasn't about experimentation, although we did plenty of that. Our program was about learning how to find sexual pleasure, adapting to different methods, and finding that one person who chemically and physically matched us to perfection.

Edward was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was six years old. Now, at twenty-two, he's trying to be a normal college student. The only thing is, he had to agree to share an apartment with his sister, Alice, who helps take care of him. When Alice gets accepted into a fashion school three hours away, they have to rely on a family friend, Bella, to live with Edward. Totally against having any help from anyone, Edward has to learn that you can't get through life alone.

But, Bella is now Izzy and her new protector OC Clara has secrets and a shared past with Bella. Bella doesn’t forgive Edward easily.  She is angry and keeps the secrets of her past closely guarded. Will Edward ever earn back her trust? Eventual E/B but unlike other n/m AU that will take a while.
