I won't say how old I am - just to say I feel young at heart! After reading Twilight for the first time, I couldn't put it down - in fact I have read the books countless times! I think it took me back to that breathy, shaky torment of first love which we know can't last, but will always remember. I fell madly in love with Edward, and have never looked back!

I have a 21 year old son away at university and a lovely husband who tolerates my obsession with good grace - in fact he bought me my beautiful Twilight journals and a calendar last Christmas. He just wishes I could get paid for writing!

I have never thought about writing fanfic until reading "Dark Side of the Moon" by Blondie and coming across this site. I decided to have a go, and "Eclipse Missing Moments" is my first attempt.

I wasn't sure if I could write any original stories, but eventually had a go with Picking Up The Pieces. It almost didn't see the light of day when it was rejected, as I didn't see the tiny mark against grammer, and thought it was wholly unsuitable. Thankfully I went back and re-read the email, made some corrections and resubmitted it. It is to date the most successful story (as far as reviews are concerned) that I have done.

“There was no other blood like this.  Once she was gone, it would no longer be within my grasp.  But if I stopped now, she would heal.  Her body would make more.  The blood would replenish.  I could drink again.  The promise of more – it was the only incentive that could have caused me to stop.”

I will be sad to see this story end, as I have really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure whether I liked an imperfect Edward, but as I thought about it more, it seemed right. In any relationship, you have to adapt to changes, maybe because of illness or trauma, and sometimes people lose abilities and function. My husband had a stroke last year and there are things about him that have changed, things he can no longer do. But one thing that hasn't changed is how much I love him.

I'm split! Part of me says no baby. They need to learn about each other in "Real life", which is so different to being stranded on an Island. Having a baby would complicate their lives and stop them from enjoying a normal relationship.

The other part of me thinks it would be pretty lucky to have sex with no contraception and escape without being pregnant! Overall, I think I'll vote for no baby!

But make it quick...!!! lol

Seeking Asylum Banner

Bella Swan never thought she would return to Forks after leaving in 9th grade when her parents divorced. She remained in Arizona for college, medical school and residency, pushing herself towards an unknown goal. When she heard that Jacob had died in a motorcycle accident, Bella returned to Forks and to a world of old ties and new opportunities. The Cullen Retreat was recruiting for a new psychiatrist and Bella found herself accepting the job. Perhaps returning to her roots would be just the asylum Bella needed to find herself. But the founders of this mental health respite were quite a mystery to Bella and the people of Forks. The most intriguing part of the job was not the opportunity itself, but the benefactor’s youngest son Edward.  He seemed to ensnare Bella’s thoughts and decisions from the moment she arrived....

First - I love you AN's! Please don't stop!

As a nurse, I was really fortunate to work with some great doctors in my time who held a lot of respect for my knowledge and experience. So much so, when I rang one evening to say that I didn't like the look of a patient, even though I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong, the doctor came straight up. We ended up performing micro heart surgery as an emergency with a text book propped up on the side!!

You are right though - some, the younger ones especially, are full of themselves (and various bodily excretions!!!) :)

Author's Response:

I've been surprised by the number of people who actually read and want the silly A/Ns! I'm keeping them, no worries.

Don't get me wrong, there are some AMAZING docs who appreciate all that ICU nurses can do, and I love them to death. It's just the few assholes out there that taint it for everyone else. I'm so glad you knew one well enough that he trusted your judgment implicitly. SO cool.

My colleagues are not shy in ripping a egomaniacal resident a few one. Well deserved. :)

Thankfully I never saw a child die in such a way, but I have been involved in squeezing bags of blood, plasma - anything we could get our hands on - when someone was rushed into theatre after a liver biopsy went wrong. He eventually died too.

My speciality was oncology, so dying was an everyday occurance, but I got great comfot out of making sure that both patients and relatives had the best end I could give them.

Unfortunately, I had no partner at that time to help me, but I had an amazing network of friends!

Author's Response:

NGL, I think oncology is the most challenging type of nursing care. I did my pediatric clinicals on the oncology floor, and I knew from the first moment I never could do it. It's different in the ICU, because they are nearly always intubated and sedated, but when they have mucusitis, and you can't touch their pain with anything? I never feel more helpless that in those situations. Bravo to you for being able to do it. I bow at your feet, seriously.

Thank you for sharing your story, and for reading mine. :)

Reading this has been a real education to me! As a Brit, I have never questioned our guys foreskins. Now I suddenly realise why so many smutty stories are obsessed with lube or rubbing the end in a womans juices before entering! lol.

Yet another difference to remember!

Author's Response:

EXACTLY!!! It's hard to realize how nicely you've got it if you had no idea of the difference! Yeah, it's a big deal in the States to be uncut, but it is slowly improving. Now do you understand why we're so obsessed with Rob? Well, that isn't the main reason, but still. Some of our girls are coming to realize just how awesome parkas can be. Anything I can do to help people to better appreciate parkas is a good thing in my book. :)

You are so right about that trailer - I almost collapsed when I saw that bed break!

So sorry about the ear ringing - that's not a nice thing to have. I just hear my own pulse in my left ear, which is quite annoying and distracting, especially when I want to go to sleep. It just started a few months ago too.

Poor Bella. I have a little understanding about brain problems. My husband (41) had a stroke two years ago. He was fit and healthy and had just completed the London Marathon, so it was a huge shock. He still struggles with a few things now, although physically he has recovered well.

Anyway!! Thanks for the update!

Author's Response:

The breaking headboard was EPIC. UNF.

tinnitus is annoying, but I'm so used to it that I hardly notice anymore, thank god. Sorry you're having trouble with that kind of thing, too.

Thank you for sharing about your husband--having a stroke is such a challenging thing to live with, especially the recovery period. It takes *so* long to regain everything that you lose, and there are no guarantees it will all come back, either. Bella will recover, I promise, and happy things will result. :)

I only just found this story and I read it right through. It is such an unusual plot and I really liked it. Of course, I know the thing thats bothering Edward is the college stuff; it has nothing to do with Bella, who I'm sure he really likes. Maybe? I know you won't give your plot away!

Thanks for writing this and giving me an enjoyable evening!
