I had always viewed my existence since changing into a vampire as being like a starry night; mostly darkness but with a few scattered bright spots. I had thus far only been able to escape the tedium and misery of this life with a modicum of sanity due to the rare occasions that I was able to make my mate happy.

That was before. Before the Gods of Fate had intervened and made a mockery of my existence, chewing it up and spitting out the pieces. Before Bella Swan had moved to town and I proved unable just to leave her alone. Before my relationship with my mate violently combusted in an act of sadistic pleasure. Now, the storm clouds had rolled in and blocked out all the stars, and my life was a grey, depressing mess.

Bella Swan spent the first two years of her life in Forks developing a friendship with Jacob Black that finally turned into something more.  As she begins her senior year of high school, a new family moves to town and Bella slowly begins to question the path she thought her life would follow.  Sometimes there is a difference between what you think you need and what you never knew you wanted.  Takes place during the timeframe of New Moon and Eclipse.  J/B at first, but eventually E/B.

After surviving a traumatic event in Phoenix, Bella comes to the realization that she will never be normal again.  Bella feels that Phoenix holds too many reminders of what happened and decides to move to Forks to live with her father, Charlie.  Not long after starting at Forks High School, Bella meets the Cullen family and quickly realizes that they, too, are not quite normal, just like her.  She is intrigued by this.  Eventually, she falls in love with Edward.  Even after discovering their deepest secret, she is still not surprised by this extraordinary family.  But what happens when Bella's past tracks her down in Forks?

A look at the Twilight universe if the roles were reversed and Edward was the unknowing human and Bella the centuries-old vampire.
