A missing heartfelt moment between Bella and Edward set during Bella’s pregnancy in Breaking Dawn. Inspired by Charlene Soraia’s version of the song “Wherever you will go.” 

Part of me still revels in the knowledge that Bella genuinely desires to be with me forever – so much so that she called for a family vote a few weeks ago and then, after receiving their approval, guaranteed that she would join me in immortality by seeking Carlisle's word that he would condemn her to three days of torture after her high school graduation.

The other part of me – the part that still fears the destruction of Bella's soul despite her rebuttal about my beliefs, "There's hope in you, after all." – plots daily to circumvent this rapidly approaching deadline.

I thought that I had come up with the perfect stalling tactic that same morning, but I realized as the days went on that it was far more than just a strategic maneuver. It was the deepest wish of my heart.

"Marry me first."

I tilted my head closer toward my wife’s tummy, though I didn’t necessarily need to do so in order to hear the baby’s budding thoughts, but I wanted to be closer, still marveling over everything that was happening. Oh, I’m sorry – I’m so sorry for every doubt I had. I’m sorry. Everything was suddenly becoming extremely sharp – I now understood exactly why Bella was so ready to give her life up to make sure this child lived.

Because, I knew that if it were me, I would make the same decision – my life was nothing compared to that of my child’s.

Many have tried to finish Stephenie Meyer's "Midnight Sun" (Twilight from Edward's point of view) and from what I've seen, none of them truly finished what she started.  This ending to "Midnight Sun" starting at Chapter 13 is not only picking up where she left off, but uncovering the Edward that she created, and blending the perspectives of many to hear the rest of his story. This first book is a unique turning point in the arc of his character.

Edward Cullen, silently waiting in longing for Bella to accept his proposal, has a nice quiet evening planned for he and Bella to relax and celebrate their love.  But Bella has a surprise in store for him...

“It took me only a few years to return to Carlisle and recommit to his vision. I thought I would be exempt from the…depression…that accompanies a conscience. Because I knew the thoughts of my prey, I could pass over the innocent and pursue only the evil. If I followed a murderer down a dark alley where he stalked a young girl — if I saved her, then surely I wasn’t so terrible.”

Carlisle, seeing that neither Rosalie nor Edward are willing to respond, decides to let Renesmee, Bella, and everyone else in the family hear the story of the day Edward and Rosalie first met. The words which caused their first disagreement are perhaps not the words one might expect.
