Isabella Swan learns that she's been traded like chattle by her own father. She's sent to England and married off to one Edward Cullen, asshole extraordinaire, but there's a reason for his temper problem and Bella's determined to break down his walls.

They told me on my eighteenth birthday, after Jacob had left. They told me that in a month I would be moving away, to live with a man a decade older, and run a household that I had never seen half the world away from home. I was given a blank manila envelope. It contained two pieces of paper; one was a contract, the other was a letter.

She felt herself relax as well, just because he seemed to be doing so. Extraordinary. "So there is a large volume at White's where gentlemen record their wagers. What does that have to do with the Marks brothers?"

Mr. Cullen pursed his lips before saying, "Allow me, if you would, Miss Swan, to stop at the next shady spot we come across, so I can better give you my attention."

Bella is a Professor at the local community College. She has continued to live in Forks, Washington since her High School graduation.

Edward is a pediatrician and has a secret that nobody knows about, except his family.
