Excerpt, Chapter Four—

“Everything changed when I had laid eyes on her. She was, without a doubt, the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. There was nothing about her that I didn’t find attractive. Everything about her drew me in. Her eyes, her lips, her voice, her smile, her laugh. I stopped myself again. This was Charlie’s daughter. Charlie, the man who had given me a chance when I felt like I was down on my luck. I would never undermine his trust by trying to get at his daughter. I knew why I wasn’t good enough. I knew I had to stay away.”

After losing her father while she was still in college, Bella Swan was left with only a big dream, and an unexpected life insurance pay-out. She thought she had a solid plan to build her own business and make her dad proud. At twenty years old, she became the owner of bed and breakfast in Vermont.

When Edward returns to Bella of his own accord, he does not realise that just a few hours earlier she nearly drowned in an attempt to hear his voice. He soon finds that the girl he came back to is indeed very much altered from the girl he left behind, and that it takes more than saying sorry to rebuild their lives.

I cried the second Edward put Ezzy into my arms.

"Oh, thank God," I murmured, wrapping my arms around her in a firm, yet gentle embrace. I kissed her softly on the forehead, soaking up her wonderful presence.

"It's okay," I told her tenderly, completely overwhelmed with emotion, "Edward and I are here now."
