Bella was laughing beside him at some joke he hadn’t understood. Again. They were sitting in the Border’s coffee shop with some of her co-workers, girls whose names Jacob had never bothered to remember. They never seemed to have anything to say to him, either good or bad, so he mostly ignored them back. He hated these kinds of outings. They weren’t like going to the bar or going to dinner. These kind of outings always meant long-winded discussions about politics, art, and literature that went right over Jacob’s head.
This is probably the best example of Jacob/Bella I've seen. No bad guy, just two people with very different dreams and plans for their lives.

love this story
Author's Response: I'm so glad! :)

In a way, I'm glad that Rosalie had to see Royce King again, if only to help her confront her demons. Though, of course, I don't know which direction you are going to take this. It could be very bad. On the Edward side, I'm surprised that Alice, knowing that Edward is suffering and feeling out of sorts would banish him from Bella, who has all his attention. I wonder, after all his searching for some meaning, why he would succumb to drug use and not just go against Alice and pursue something that could make him happy? Can't wait to see where you are going!
Author's Response: Her story is far from over, and, as usual, things have to get worse before they get better. You'll see why Alice told Edward not to contact Bella soon, and why drugs were his first thought (after all the soulsearching and religion-trying he'd been doing).

I feel bad for Jacob. I'm always E&B, but I was kind of rooting for him.

I like the story...even though I love how J handled Rose, I still will always hate him. He needs to stay in Forks.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you like it! :)

Well, at least he said he was sorry and at least they parted as friends. Now Bella is going to need new friends to console her and distract her from her loss!
Author's Response: :)

Why on earth would you want anyone skipping this chapter, it was one of the best actually. You made Jacob a living, feeling person, the other characters are perhaps a bit distant and hard to grasp.
I'm actually quite disappointed in Bella and how she's been handling her relationship with Jacob. He left Forks and moved to Chicago because she asked him, but the person he was in Forks isn't good enough anymore in Chicago. She makes him attend formal dinners where he's uncomfortable, takes him out with her friends that snub him. It wasn't unreasonable for Jacob to ask her to take his side for once, and what is her answer? “I am always apologizing for you, trying to explain to my friends and my family that you don’t dislike them, you’re just having some adjustment issues. I have been more patient with you than I thought I was capable of, and sometimes I don’t think you even try.” Apologizing for him?! In plain English, she's ashamed of her boyfriend. What kind of love is that? Jacob did the right thing, I don't blame him at all.
So sorry to hear that you have been ill, hope you are feeling better now.

Author's Response: Bella still has a lot of growing up to as I see you've noticed! She's in for a lot of introspection over the rest of the story. And thank you!

Oh, I didn't think I would feel sorry for Jake, but I did.
That doesn't meen I'm not happy to see him go! Bu I think the way he told Bella he was going back to La Push was really unconsiderate, he didn't even explain things to her. That is sad. =/
Author's Response: Don't worry, Bella will get her closure :)

This story REALLY surprised me! The premise didn't seem really interesting at first, but I'm glad that I gave it a shot. All off them have such strrog and well developed personalities, it's really great to read! I'm anxious to read more.
Author's Response: Thank you for giving it a try!

I LIKE HOW JACOB TOLD HER OFF. HOWEVER, BEING A JACOB HATER I WILL BE FINE IF HE IS EATEN BY A PACK OF WOLVES.

Actually, it's the first thing Jacob said that I liked! He may be in a poor way and not exactly treating Bella as he should, but he can defend her like nobody's business!

So now they have met. I like this immediate connection they had, the attraction they felt without even knowing each other. Esme won't be pleased though, Bella isn't the kind of girl she would have chosen for her son.
Esme seems a rather distant mother, more concerned about appearances and keeping a stiff upper lip, than being there for her son who's going through an existential life crisis.
Author's Response: We'll be seeing more Esme and Carlisle soon, and maybe that will help clear up any questions.

A little bit of fate, and a lot of overwhelming! I can't wait to see how they give in to the inescapable pull!

Jake is always such a loser - I can't stand him. She needs to dump him!
Great story

Awww... I'm a Bella/Edward coupling to the core but my heart breaks for Jacob/Bella in this fic
Good fic, keep up the good work =)!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you feel sorry for Jake. I do too, and it doesn't seem to be the norm!

Well, so that is what Edward needs-distractions and a higher purpose. Well, we all know that love is a good base for both of them!

Alot to harbour on one's own! Edward is perceptive enough to notice things are off, too bad Rosalie won't take him up on his offer to talk!
Author's Response: Rosalie is very introspective, and she doesn't have a lot of trust, especially for men, even if she's known them a long time.

Hi, excellent start, like your story a lot. It's different from the mainstream fanfic stories usually featured on this site while keeping the characters canon.
Two very different personalities and very different worlds will clash when Bella and Edward meet, much looking forward to their future relationship. Great job, update soon!
Author's Response: Thank you!

I like the story..but I hope jake is out of the picture soon. I know u said you won't kill him, but I would give you extra points if you did!
Author's Response: Don't worry, Jake's not around forever.

Well, Bella seems to have her head on straight and seems stuck in a relationship that started out good but isn't growing at the same rate (or any rate) that she is.
Author's Response: You're exactly right about that.

Well, Edward seems normal in his grief and adriftness at this time, while his family seems callous and stiff. I wonder how he will ever meet up with this girl!
