That was wonderful! I am really glad Edward stood up to Jacob about Bella but I'm surprised Jake didn't take offense to it. He character in this story makes me think he would take offense to being called on the carpet in his own home.

Thanks, hun! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the chapter! Yes, Edward's finally taking a stand against Jake where Bella's concerned. It also doesn't help that he's dealing with some anger issues stemming from the detox process that he's going through! Jake is a pretty clueless excuse for a human being. While he certainly wasn't happy about Edward coming to Bella's defense, he's so cocky that it would never even occur to him to view Edward as serious competition. Hmm ... OR, is there more going on than meets the eye? Maybe Jake is craftier than everyone gives him credit for! You'll just have to wait and see! ;)

I thought this story was great before, but with this chapter you have reached brilliance!! I loved the nods to Twilight... bella asking Edward to distract her, Edward thinking that he's going to hell & may as break the rules.  Your Bella is thoughtful & no one can fault her for where this is going.  And your approach this chapter was right on, not too fast, & not too slow!

Best chapter ever!!  You should have 2000 reviews, not 200!

What a fabulous story. I've been reading from the start, but I'm usually just a lurker not a big reviewer. However, when I see that such an amazing story has so few reviews I felt the need to jump in.

 

Really well written, and the plot is coming together nicely. I don't love that she kissed him while still married to Jake - even though I'm pretty sure he is cheating on her. Two wrongs don't make a right. But, can't say that the kisses in the parking lot of the custard stand aren't steamy and sweet.

 

Can't wait to read more. Waiting anxiously for the next update.

I totally get where you're coming from on the "two wrongs don't make a right" sentiment. I really struggle with that aspect of the story, which is mainly why E & B haven't had sex yet (and they won't for a while). Some readers have been a little frustrated with the "slow burn" aspect of their relationship, but I didn't feel that I would be true to the storyline to make them act in ways that are out of character for them. Additionally, I wanted to highlight the romance between E & B, and not make it only about sex. While it will happen eventually, some things need to be resolved between Jake & Bella first. Just as I wanted E & B's first kiss to be really special, I want the first time that they are "together" to be special as well! Things will definitely be heating up between the two of them from here on out, but both of them are painfully aware that Bella is still married to Jake, so expect plenty of angst in there too! Saw this story as one of Kikiblue's favourited and having enjoyed BDR so much I thought I'd give it a go, I'm a bit shocked at the lack of reviews, it's well written and so far the story is unravelling itself nicely.      As a woman in her 30's, I admit it's refreshing to have a mature aka older Bella- especially one that has the attentions of a younger Edward ;)   Looking forward to reading the rest.

Great chapter even though it was hard to read.  Edward had to go through this alone to prove to himself that he could be the man that  Bella deserves.  Can't wait to see what Jake is up to with this jewelry "thing".  Great story, BTW, I always loook forward to updates!  Soon I hope!!

Ok, truth be told - mega rough chapter and whilst I haven't experienced addiction of that sort, I did watch my sister have to go cold turkey when she fell pregnant with my niece, so it's never something to watch that you could find any pleasure in aside from the end result.

But hey, you just finished off on the best note :) I'm so glad that Bella took Edward's news and that he was able to be honest with her about the prescription addiction.

Can't wait to read about their reunion, and I expect Edward's about to become a bit of a real estate tycoon in Dallas :P
