Hmm, I heard before, I think, that Victoria was in the fic, but then again Elizabeth is Edward's 'mother' in the fic, the one James was with, right? Now, James went to jail, but we don't know what happened to Elizabeth (nut house?). What's Vicky got to do with this, then? In Twi, Victoria and James were a couple. Are we to make the same connection between them in here? Has James been released yet? I don't think we've an idea of how long he's been in jail, and still has to stay there. Long, I hope. Maybe Victoria was his birth mom, not Elizabeth, and James dragged him over with him to Elizabeth because something happened to Victoria? Perhaps she's James' sister, or family? We don't know, I think. We'll see. :-)

“Don’t tell me he’s the reason you just gave me the brush-off?” He eyed Edward briefly, before letting out a snort of dismissal, and turned back to me. “Really, I would’ve thought you’d be aiming a bit higher than that.”

Wha? Oh, Edward, just hit him. *grin* I already know that he's going to do it. :P

All the big build up for Charlie's reaction and he was fine.  But Bella doesn't know that it's not smart to be rude to the people who deliver your food. Especially when that person is Tanya, she's tricky.

A part of me wanted to hate them, simply for their ability to love, to be capable of feeling something other than shame and self-loathing.

Because I wanted that, too. I wanted it so badly it tore me apart.

Poor, poor boy. I think I read somewhere, don't ask me where, silly reading the updates and not have all the knowledge of the previous chapters, that he wouldn't be able to deal with the part where he is not a bad boy, but that it was all a lie. We've seen him say or agree with James that he was bad, and that the rape was the punishment for that, in a way. Poor thing is brainwashed. And it needs to come out, even if he doesn't want to. And it's going to hurt, badly. I hope that he's by then confided in Bella what happened to him (though perhaps she should have figured stuff out on her own by now?), so that she can be the support he needs, crying himself through that fase. She's already saying how ridiculous it sounds that he calls himself bad. But he can't deal, so like in the beginning of this chapter, running it is.

About the conversation Carlisle has with him, asking for his permission to tell Alice and Emmett... I think it was said that Edward arrived over there when he was 11, and that's the first convo they have, right? Aren't Alice and Emmett about the same age? I mean, you can't tell 11-12 year olds that they've a new brother who's been not only hit, but raped as well, not at that age... Well, I did see that Edward asked him not to, so perhaps they're only told a few years later on... Okay, I can live with that.

perhaps it's better to use 'wasn't your choice'?

I can't wait for the part where he'll let his guard down enough to lay down next to her on a bed, or wherever. He'll need to do his crying over there... :-(

I know I am a bit late reponding to you comments, but here goes. I agree with the length of the chapters. The relationship is a tough one and too long of chapters would be painful. The kids need to go slow and they are. The story is a sad but good one and I am hoping for a HEA of some sort. Don't let the gripers bring you down. They should write their own fic and do it how they see fit. I need to climb down from the soapbox now (sheepishly). Thanks. Nancy
