awww, poor Carlisle! I'm sure he and Esme love him, but are probably too scared to say so for fear of driving him off. of course they love him!

I've lost track - is James still in a coma, or dead?? I wish Edward could confront him, coma or not....and if he chse to pummel James' face during the visit, all the better. :) He needs closure, and talk about being brainwashed....he needs whatever de-brainwashing program they have Patty Hearst. Don't drink the Koolaid, Edward, don't!!! Maybe Stuart Smalley could help him??? You ARE good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people LOVE YOU!!

As sad as the events in this chapter are for Bella and Edward, it's even sadder for Carlisle. Carlisle and Esme have tried to create a safe home for Edward and surround him with their love and Edward doesn't recognize it because he doesn't know what love is. Bella is right. James' programming has done just as much and probably more harm to Edward. I don't know how you do it. Every chapter is impactful. I like that you make every word count.

Oh My Gosh! I wanted this chapter to go on and on forever! Wow! I hate that Edward ran away, but I can't believe how much info he divulged to Carlisle. That's a big freakin' improvement. My heart is breaking for them... Thanks for writing!

What a sad chapter for everyone. Even though I can understand where Edward is coming from... I can't help but feel sad for Bella. To have him just run away from her... ouch... I can't imagine how much that hurts. Not to mention poor Carlisle...

Before I react to the story, I have to say that you do a spectacular job of switching POVs. Some authors use different POVs to go over the same story & I tend to skip much of it the 2nd time around, but you use it to move the story along but give the reader a different perspective ... I applaud you.
Back to the story ... poor Edward. James really did "brainwash" him (what a brillant word for "why" Edward perceives himself as unlovable). I really like the intense conversation between Edward and Bella, but I am absolutely waiting on the edge of my seat for the conversation between Carlisle and Edward to continue. Can't wait!!!!!

A very emotional update. It seems like Bella telling Edward she loves him and then his converation with Carlisle should now bring everything out in the open and start the healing process.
It appears that both Edward and Carlisle were living under false assumptions and I hope that this is the opportunity for them to begin to understand each other and to embrace love and that Edward self esteem would begin to build.
Update soon.

Okay, I am just so moved by this whole chapter. Bella's obvious hurt at Edward's rejection and then Edward's subsequent heartbreaking were so well done - made sense in the story & I can't imagine it going any other way. Despite that, you made it fresh. AND THEN, it's not enough to have all the Bella and Edward stuff going on, you slip in that bit with Carlisle. I hate baseball analogies, but you really did hit it outta the park with that one.
