its not so much that shes coming off as a bitch... its that shes coming off as immature, i find it difficult to believe a CEO of such an impressive company would be so childish :S i hope for more EPOV this is great :D
Author's Response: Hi again Tsumi - Whether she's immature or bitchy, Bella has some issues. And keep in mind that Esme balances Bella very well in business. i expected more out of bella in that confrontation with edward, she didnt really seem to get the upperhand, seemed a little short i guess, and edwards disrespect for his boss (who calls the person who writes your cheques a bitch?) would never be tolerated in an actual working environment especially with only one day on the job :S i like the set up i just dont really get why he would be let off the hook for a comment like that
Author's Response: Tsumi - Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback. Bella attempted to belittle him in front of his friends, but she was pretty drunk so we doubt that was very successful. Also, she knows damn well she can't fire him because they don't get along; he's a great asset to the company - she knows this. So she's a bit angry and bitter. Plus, she and Esme did "recruit" him from a competing firm, so if she cut him loose, he'd be free to make someone else a ton of money and she doesn't want that either.
As for Edward, while I agree that it's certainly not a good idea to insult your boss, keep in mind that Esme is also his boss and she likes him. Also, since this incident didn't occur in the actual workplace, Bella cannot fire him for insubordination. Traditionally here in the US (I'm guessing you're from somewhere else given your spelling of checks) firing someone because he or she insulted you in a bar after-hours would be grounds for a lawsuit. Fault it if you will, but it's reality. And my experiences in the corporate workforce are such that Edward would not be fired for this one. Now, if he does it again at work, that might be a different story. But something tells me he doesn't want to commit career suicide (so to speak), so maybe he'll be a bit more careful.
