Reviews For Volition

I think Victoria probably has something to do with the IRA and he's probably meeting up with her for that. If he was hooking up with her, you wouldn't think it would be on the sidewalk in from of a store.  Actually, if it was IRA, you wouldn'tt hink they would either.  So he's 4 years older?  Interesting...

Must read more...

Kat

Author's Response:

yes, you're right, you'd think he'd be more subtle about things. although when you keep your affairs low key (and by that i mean everyday dealings, not tawdry stuff, haha...) you can easily 'hide in plain sight', so to speak. no reason for suspicion...

B & E's happily ever after is all messed up...I hope they can make it right.

Author's Response:

they definitely have a rougher situation than most, so it's gong to take a lot of trust and communication and commitment to make it happen.

Edward is so sweet! And Irish! Gah, the possibilities of that combo are endless...

I bet Victoria is part of whatever Edward is doing, Edward wouldn't do that to Bella. :)

Author's Response:

...edward ~is~ pretty smitten with bella...

Hey Rochelle,

I just started this, after moeying on over from feathers_mmm Wallbanger rec.  I had seen it before browsing around and it had grabbed my interest, but I read a shitton of fics to do my reviews. Her rec was the little push it took to click open, and oh my Lord!  We're going to have to do something about getting your review count up!

You have just transported me to another time and place, a struggle we only heard about that seemed worlds away growing up.  I hope Edward is sincere in his affection for Bella, with her saying he was with some Victoria chick just two weeks ago, since that would make things really difficult with Emmett as his best friend - not to mention crush Bella if he was just f'n around.  He was very opportunistic and wasted no time in taking her and her innocence.  Of course she was an eager little beaver too, huh?

Well, on to read some more!

Kat

Author's Response:

hi kat,

thanks so much for giving the story a try! i'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

i know just what you mean about having so many fics, and so little time. i feel like i'm always playing catch-up...

anyway, it's true; bella was just as eager to give it as edward was to take it. they've known one another their entire lives, and they're now about to totally alter the dynamic of their relationship. and so it begins...

Hoo hoo hoo, it almost looks like Edward's giving up the Provos and running away to be with Bella away from the violence. That would be a good thing, given the situation, but could be stick to it? Alice and Jasper definitely have the right idea.

Man I thought Rose might have been losing the baby there. Then I thought there might have been trouble on the way to the hospital. Now I'm wondering if there won't be trouble on the way to Cork (or wherever.)

Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response:

edward, being both a med student and a rebel, lives a life of natural ambivalence. his calling is to heal, but his heart is with his country and what he believes he needs to do to help it. that said, you're totally correct - he's very aware of the fact that he needs to remove himself from the situation at hand if he wants to survive, and also to protect bella.

things are happening...

Reviewer: snowgood (Signed) · Date: February 15, 2010 11:46 PM · On: Chapter 20

Ohh, poor Edward!  I'm glad that Rose and the baby are okay, but I think it was a big risk for Emmett and Edward to go to the hospital.  Will Bella be able to calm and refresh Edward's spirit?   They definitely need to get each other through this!

Author's Response:

things are sort of on the fast track now. everything is a risk; you're right.

as for rose, i couldn't bear to let her lose the baby - it's sad enough if happened to her before...

Reviewer: AlliYoyo (Signed) · Date: February 12, 2010 06:54 AM · On: Chapter 19

*shudders* Being tarred and feathered somehow seems worse than actually being beaten up. It's like branding someone for all to see that they are an enemy and deserve no respect. Unfortunately, it was also a popular thing to do to women (if such a thing can be said). Sandy Hair better not be thinking about doing that to Bella, for his sake...

I think that Bella should go to Cork when Edward's away. But somehow, I think her parents would be less than thrilled with that.

Why is Bella sneaking out in a nightie? Couldn't she have least gotten dressed. Imagine if something escalates there...

Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response:

I know; i was horrified when i read accounts of this very thing during research. it's disgusting and the epitome of disrespect.

bella's more concerned with getting out of the house quietly than choosing proper clothing, i guess, lol. the wrath of charlie might rival the danger outside...

Reviewer: snowgood (Signed) · Date: February 11, 2010 08:45 PM · On: Chapter 19

Bella is still so much in the dark-and I get why Edward wants to keep her there!  The reality is terrifying and Edward has to do things that disgust himself to keep her safe and forward his cause.  If she didn't love him so much, it would be easier for her to walk away-but with all that, they bring peace and joy to each other.

Author's Response:

yes, i agree. their love is what keeps each of them grounded and sane, but it's not easy at all. i think it also helps that she's know him her entire life, so there's a really strong mutual trust.

Reviewer: DanceWithMe (Signed) · Date: February 11, 2010 07:52 PM · On: Chapter 19

Oh my.  Tarring and feathering.  Now that's just brutal.  To a woman no less.  Jumping right back into the angst, aren't we now?

The "Judas Iscariot" always cracks me up, though.  Alice is too cute.

Thanks for another great chapter!  Can wait to read more.  :)

Author's Response:

you know it - a dash of happy, then a wollop of angst.

sigh.

and the sad thing is, the tar and feathering is based on true events; i was horrified when i read of it happening to a woman...

my mom always used to say 'judas iscariot'. very dramatic, haha!

Every time I see that you've udpated, I do a little Alice-esque happy dance!  (And I'm not one who generally does such things, so it's an accomplishment on your part.)  I'm addicted.  This is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite AU-H stories.  Excellent work!

Author's Response:

aw, yay! i'm so glad you enjoy this story to that degree! (i most definitely have stories i get that way with, too.) i've loved writing it, even though it can be  a labor of love at times. i appreciate the kindness and encouraging words!

I'm on the edge of my seat.  Still love this story.

Author's Response:

thank you! when i first started Volition, i didn't think about the fact there would be so much suspense. but, looking back, i guess it's kind of a given....

Hahaha, that's great.  Thanks for lightening this story up a bit; there's quite a bit of angst.  This chapter really gave me a laugh though.  With the Rose/Emmett sex to the Charlotte stories, the wedding flirtation and the awkward (hilarious) half naked walk in... it was really good.  :)

Thank you for making me smile.

Although Bella's locked door is freaking creepy.  Gross, what if one of her relatives is having sex on her bed??? PUKE IN MOUTH.

Author's Response:

*snort* that would be pretty awesome and awful, all rolled in one.

it's exactly as you said, we needed some happiness, wedding bliss, bathroom naughtiness to offset the ongoing danger and sadness.

Reviewer: DanceWithMe (Signed) · Date: February 10, 2010 03:42 PM · On: Chapter 17

Maybe this makes me sick, but I actually thought it was kind of cool.  I still have the bad boy streak in me. :)  In Edward's defense, it seems that he (and everyone he loves) is living a life where if he doesn't stand up for himself, he'll be the one pounded to pulp.  It's too bad, but honestly, if I were in his place, I probably would have done the same thing.

I think it's unfair to compare Edward to Romeo.  Romeo is an annoying sissy whose violence towards Tybalt was only a rash response to the consequences of his own naivete and his incapability of staying out of a fight he should have known not to interfere with.  (Can you tell I don't like Romeo and Juliet?)  And he didn't really romance Juliet either.  He made a metaphor about kissing and all of a sudden they were married and he was in her pants.  I think Edward did better... not much better, but at least you can tell he is really sincere.

Now that I'm done ranting... I really love this story to pieces.  Thank you so much for writing and sharing it.  :)

Author's Response:

yeah, i love bad boys too. and, while i personally am sickened at violence, i am not naive to the fact that this is how boys conduct themselves at times. and, the fact that they're in the midst of a civil war of sorts does heighten everything - aggression, passion, even violence. this is why i wrote edward the way i did... the way he would be, not necessarily how i'd want him to be.

i love romeo and juliet to the point of ridiculousness, but i so see your point. i'd mentioned romeo in my A/N simply because i think some girls want edward to be this romantic hero type, and he's not. sure he's delicious, but he's also flawed and tortured and ambivalent and violent...

anyhow, thank you so very much for your love!! i so appreciate it!

I really enjoy this story.  I'm sorry I didn't review earlier, I just figured that since this story is so far along already, you wouldn't much appreciate reviews on early chapters... but who am I kidding.  Writers always want praise.  :)

I love the way the characters talk in this story.  I'm American, so I always get a laugh out of the swears.  And the plot is really interesting and fast paced.  Can't wait to read more!

Thanks for writing and sharing! :)

Author's Response:

i get a kick out of the swears too. :) my mom is from ireland, but i'm american, so i'm pretty fascinated with all things irish. thanks for your review; i do love to know what resonates with the reader.

i'm so glad you're enjoying this...

Busted! I hope Charlotte doesn't say anything though. We'd have another shotgun wedding" on our hands. I know it's an eventuality for Edward and Bella, but I don't think they're ready for it quite yet. Maybe Charlotte's too drunk to do anything or be taken seriously.

Although, getting married would solve the living arangements situation for them.

Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response:

nah, charlotte loves bella, even if she is envious and half in lust with edward herself. :)

thanks for the love, my dear!
