I really really love this story. I was so excited to come back here and realize I had 20 chpaters to read. If i wasn't so selfish I probably would have left a review ever chapter, but as it was I just couldn't wait to read them. Wow! *shkes head* My heart was in my throat! I kept thinking, why are they lingering around the hospital, talking and hugging everyone? I guess it wouldn't have mattered if people were outside waiting anyway.
Glad Carlisle was right there and could go with them to take care of Edward. Maybe now he might be considering what Renee said about making it right. I guess before he could do that he would have to make a break from it all, like Charlie did. To start making babies, he's going to have to give it up, go somewhere else, because after seeing that crap like this can happen to him, he just can't do that to Bella.
Maybe they can all go to America with Jasper and Alice.
So now I'm all caught up and will have to find something else to do. I don't know what your update schedule is, but I know you just did. Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: i know. :) well, if you knew you weren't going to see your family for an indeterminable amount of time, you might be lingering and hugging too! it was a small reprieve after the stress of the day for the boys, as well as rose's scare. a moment to catch a collective breath.
i'm getting in the chapters as quickly as possible because i want the complete story to be over here as well as on ff.net. so, they'll continue to come in as soon as my twi beta can approve. ;)

Well, that was a bit scary about Rose!
I'm surprised the guys came to the hospital, especially all dressed in black - a little recognizable. Did they have help from other brigades? Because -my goodness, that was what - 7-8 bombs that went off? What a huge undertaking to get them all in place and going off at the same time! And Edward masterminded this? He'd better get the heck out of dodge!

Author's Response: as far as i know, there were 3 large brigades in belfast around that time, so they'd have all been in on it.

It's sad for Alice and Bella to face an upcoming separation after being friends all their lives. Then those guys being arrested and Victoria pg? So many changes going on all around Bella. I'm surprized she's not more overwhelmed.
I wonder if Edward and his brigade patrol the other guys and their girlfriends houses? You would think their fight would be with the British, not wasting time looking for trouble with other Irish. And he has guys posted watching out for Bella, huh? I got a little confused with a small typo, cuz Donal was in the car AND down the block, LOL, maybe it's one of the other boys?
Armed and dangerous Edward is so bad ass sexy!

the gangs they fight are loyalist gangs, so it is almost like fighting the british. everyone has their own agenda...

The wedding was so sweet. It didn't seem like it was that long. Did they do the whole Catholic mass?
That wasn't nice someone was in her room without her knowing. I guess it's just like what happens at house parties and people use the bedrooms.
It was a nice break from the anxiety. Great chapter!

Hell no, it didn't disturb me! Kinda to be expected, seeing as he's the leader and all - he's bound to excel in all aspects of - what's it called? guerrilla warfare? The brutality of it all is sickening, but in this case it was not unprovoked, an eye for an eye and all. So was that guy in the bookstore after Bella, or as an actual student? I guess once she made her presence known, he would have recognized her anyway. Anxiety is growing exponentially!

I'm glad they found him! Sounds like he wouldn't have lasted much longer. At least Bella can feel like she is helping. What is so sad, is that this violence was the reality of many of their lives.
So glad the priest is working with Rosalie on her expediting her conversion and their marriage counseling.
I am continually amazed by the factual information you have included in this and the research you must have done! Awesome!

Ok I loved the whole chap don't get me wrong but Charlotte walking in on the fater math was just freaking priceless!!! Shite Woman update already I know I am so mean! Author's Response: yes; rose being robbed of her ability to be a mom in canon was such a theme; i wanted to revisit it in Volition. i think she deserves a chance. :)

Ruh roh. You'd think they would have a little more security - door unlocked - both guys just letting her waltz on in. It could have been anybody! I also wonder about the cops or anybody else tailing her to his flat or the safe house - then it wouldn't be quite so safe anymore, huh?
I hope Edward won't be upset. I mean, he knows she knows this is part of it.
And I LOVE how they are not defiling her when she stays overnight. I would say Edward's insatiable, but she has quite the appetite as well!

Your use of the Irish slang and accents is so realistic and well done. It makes it so believable. The boys of the UVF were a bit scary! There are so many factions! Why would Irish people want to stay under the rule of the British? Isn't that against who they are as a people? I never knew about all these groups. I always thought it was Protestant/Catholic and Irish/British.
My dad's famility is Scotch-Irish, which from what I understand is when all the Irish that couldn't take what was going on anymore, moved over to Scotland - or got kicked out over there, mixed up with them and many ended up moving to America. But it's been 4-5 generations so I'm pretty far removed from it. What a time of turmoil!

Author's Response: thanks, girlie. :) my mom and her family are from cork, ireland, so i did grow up hearing a fair amount of slang and "isms". the rest i just got from other irish friends, mocies and websites. even books. it makes you feel as if you're there when the dialogue adds to it, you know? but i'm glad it rings true. last thing we need is it sounding like a damned lucky charms commercial. *snort*
it is/was, for the most part, irish catholics "vs" british (or loyalist) protestants. the factions within the groups resulted from different people having different visions, or leadership of one being usurped and starting up elsewhere, etc etc. you're right though, it was a time of such turmoil and though there's been a ceasefire (in the past few years) tensions still run high and violence continues to break out. if you look at the volition thread on the twilighted forums, i posted a bunch of murals one of my belast readers sent me a while back. i think it really speaks volumes about the atmosphere.
as for your mention of reviewing/recommending volition on cafemom's SM/fic thread - i would love that! thank you! :) i'm a member of that site as well (just cafemom) buti haven't been on in ages...

I know what Edward wants her to ride, LOL! It seems like going places in big ol' groups would garner unwanted attention, but then I guess there's safety in numbers.
I've been reading this straight as time allowed for a couple of days, and puddingpop and I were the only one's reviewing. You must have updated or something, because I came back this morning and there were 40 more reviews! Yay!
About every two weeks, I do a big rec/review on a huge website called CafeMom, in a group called Fans of Stephenie Meyers and her Twilight Series (which in itself has over 5400 members!), in a forum called Fan Fiction and Writers Corner. Some of my posts have had over 1200 views. My son thinks I should set up a blog, but that's alot of work. Anyway, next week, I was going to include Volition. (I should be caught up by then) I'll let you know, OK?

Whew! For a minute there I thought you killed Edward! Then I thought Bella would be stuck in Belfast while Edward was down in the Republic! And I'm not sure which would have been worse—Edward's death would have broken her heart, but it would have been a clean break. Forced separation would have been like an open, infected wound that would never heal.
Edward better make an honest woman of her! Otherwise Charlie might come down there and knock his head in!
Can't wait to read more!
