Yes, Edward does tend to want it all. I had several readers who were rather expecting me to kill off Embry in order that Edward could indeed have it all. Pfft!
And yes... It is viscerally satisfying to have that "See? I'm doing fabulously well" moment in front of the ex. *grin* Bella is very kind indeed.

Author's Response: I really do believe that an imprinted relationship (in m AU, anyway) would have been healing for Bella. Given her security in a time when she needed it.

I have a question. Were the chapter names including 3 words on purpose? I feel like that signified the love triangle? And then the next story on your series, had only 2 words in the chapter names? Hmmm?

The original story was actually fifteen parts, each with a "The hardest part" as part of its heading. I grouped them into four chapters with Edward's left over. When I put them up here, I realized each chapter would require a title to make them easier to "find" in the drop-down menu, so I gave each part a one-word label. Sorry! It isn't really all mysterious or foreshadowing or anything.
With The Imperative, each chapter has two parts, and each part got a one-word label, just the same. So, alas, rather than being all deep and meaningful, I was just trying to organize things. :)
I do, though, think the idea of heading chapters to reflect some inner conflict is a good one. It's just not something I did.

I was searching for a good wolf fic, (I have not read many before) and I have found myself quite intrigued with the whole werewolf thing lol and I really loved this, your take on imprinting was fantastic and I fell in love with your characters Embry especially :) I can’t wait to read your others in this series. I never thought of Embry and Bella together, but it is definitely one of my favorite non-canon pairings after this story. Just brilliantly written! I can't say I feel too sorry for Edward in this last chapter, he did leave her...sigh. I'm feeling very torn at the moment....lol. My favorite chapter was definitely the one before this one, where they finally got together and defeated Victoria. Still, the getting together was the best part.

So glad you enjoyed my story! For the Imprinting series, I am exploring Embry and Bella and then Jacob and another character (related to the wolfpack, but not a TS character). At this time I do not have plans on delving into other pack members' imprinting experiences (because I am uncertain as to how well I can continue in this theme while keeping it unique and interesting) but I do have at least five stories planned for the series with the characters mentioned above, including one that is called Wolf Girls 101, which will be a "how-to" manual written by Emily Young Uley. ;-)

I'm glad you appreciated how this last chapter worked out. It was a bit tricky to balance, but people have overall said it was effective.
This is the first story in a series, Imprinting: The Mating Imperative. There's another story currently in the process of being posted and then I've got another one ready and another one being written and another one to round it out after... *laughing* I am kind of hung up on the concept.
