Reviews For The Valediction

I spent the whole story expecting it was hysterical brain vomit from a crazy Edward, silently living in his mind while the sane Cullens surround him in concern. Not so. I also spent a lot of time trying to figure out who was being discussed--awful lot of pronouns.

I have often wondered why Meyer's vampires whine about how hard it is to die. Jump in a volcano, set off a nuke.  Choosing when you've had enough (versus waiting for chance to take you) seems like a nice option.

It wasn't a horrible story bit it wasn't great either. It made me mad/sad. I'm going to go read a happy 1 lol

Ummm...I guess I don't understand. Are they finally together to DIE together? Beautifully written, but VERY confusing. I'll read others' comments and hope they will cast some light. Thanks for writing it!

Wow, dark and morbid. I don't know how to respond to it just yet, but I do enjoy your writing and perspective!

Author's notes were right.  I can't read to the end.  I hate it.  Sorry.  Its too far from the story I love.

Reviewer: itsbloomagic (Signed) · Date: November 17, 2010 04:04 PM · On: The Valediction

Um.

Holy. Fuck.

I don't know what to say. Crazy isn't really crazy after all. And this fic is a perfect example of amazing writing and really in-depth thinking.

I'm so glad I made it to the end.

Reviewer: KayRayLovesLove (Signed) · Date: July 20, 2010 08:11 PM · On: The Valediction

Whoa.

Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa.

Wait just a damn fucking second, m'dear.

I think I get it. I totally get it, and I'm feeling it, like... cold water, below zero.  Or Listerine, sucking at my skin.  Piquant mint.  Crawling up my feet, mostly my thighs, and then it's just begging to get to my abdomen but it can't even shiver it's way up I'm so frozen.  Exquisite torture?

I can't even fucking describe it.

I just wanna scream curse words and revel in this little artificial epiphany.

It sounds like I'm... writing.  Like something I'd put in a fic, but it's literally how I... feel.

They're going to die.  In each other's arms?

She was waiting.  It was staring me right in the face - they're going to follow Emmett and Rosalie?

I'm wondering what the hell's going through your mind, and wishing I could meld it into my brain tissue.  I'm contemplating stealing this from you and taking credit - but I'd never do that, because there's no way in fucking hell I could pass this off as mine, it's genius.

I wanna squeeze the hell out of you and jump up and down and scream in your face that you're making me feel things that shouldn't be induced by letters on a screen, at one in the morning, by fictional characters, but at the same time I want to thank you.

A convoluted happy ending.  But, I guess... it is the ending to be expected.  SM didn't really look too far into forever, did she?

Not without him... God damn.

what can i say, mm totaly fucked up story i cant seem to get my head around the idea that bella would go insane, or that rose and em would ask to be killed, if these are your thoughts you have one strange though process

Reviewer: KaiaRose (Signed) · Date: March 22, 2010 01:41 PM · On: The Valediction

This story was so engrossing that I actually boarded the wrong train on the way home from work!  My heart wrenched for Edward and the tragedy of his love with Bella. The notion that loving forever does not equal a happy ending.

This short story truly is a gift.

You know, I almost didn’t read this story because of the intro, but I absolutely LOVE this dark twisted truly bizarre story. If I were a professional reviewer, here’s what I would write.

What is the Valediction? It is the dark insanity of our favorite millennia old vampires in a post-apocalyptic Twilight nightmare – every change in scene introducing a new twisted segment to the plot. Reading this story places you just barely on the edge of understanding, or are you just trying to block the acknowledgement of the truth that you face on the screen as you read.

Brilliant in it's suspense with a true nightmare quality... It is desire turned torture, love turned to hate, everlasting life turned to everlasting death. Is this how the story ends or will you wake up to find you’ve emerged from a horrible drug induced nightmare?

The only thing that can improve this story is if you read it while listening to Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow soundtrack (composed by Danny Elfman).

God, you have a telent. About the story itself, you're right, I have nothing to say.

Wow.

This was haunting and depressing and beautiful all at the same time.  Your writing abilities are quite amazing, and you certainly do know how to tell a story.  The breaks that sectioned off this story were really well executed too- perfect for suspense and flow.  I'm not sure that I can honestly say I loved it, but I can definitely appreciate this.  It's quite logical, too- immortality must be a daunting and mentally grating experience after awhile.  I'm still debating whether Bella was actually insane or not- and really, that's what a great fanfic does- it leaves you thinking even after you're finished reading.  So thank you for that- great writing :)

jesus.

this is everything i love about AU fics - fearless what-ifs, taking away the romance and tripe SM tried to feed us, and looking at her canon with clearer eyes, following it through logically, and letting it take us where it will, seeing it through, telling a story the rest of us might have been afraid to admit could exist had she dared to go there.

yes - wrenching, and sad, and unavoidable and cruel, and tragically merciful, in the end.  but then again, isn't life?

thank you for sharing.

It made my cry.

No fanfiction has ever made me cry, before now.

W.O.W

Speechless. I don't know what to say. It was dark, it was creepy as hell, and fucking brilliant! That was unbelievable.

Reviewer: Pastiche Pen (Signed) · Date: December 19, 2009 05:46 AM · On: The Valediction

OH, *fuck* that was sooo good, and so awesomely tied together. Just perfect. I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again--I just love how you weave disjointed broken strands so seamlessly into a whole. It's marvelous.

Reviewer: LJ Summers (Signed) · Date: December 14, 2009 03:41 PM · On: The Valediction

Found this through the random fic box on the Home page and was curious after reading your author's note.

Naturally.

So I read to the end...and was unsurprised that he had abandoned everything, in essence, to find her.  Okay, his willingness to abandon Renesmee was more than anticipated but...

And there...at the end...I finally get it. I am, perhaps, slow.  Bella is not insane, but really really sane.  And seeking one thing that is beyond her.

So of course he'll give it to her.

I understand and agree and wonder how he will fare, now?

Really, when you think about it, eternity is a really, really, long time.  I'm thinking about the first paragraph of Midnight Sun, the boredom and hopelessness after just eighty-odd years, and how that would devolve when you're talking centuries or millennia . . . .

This story will be in the back of my mind every time that "together forever" is mentioned as a goal to be desired in fanfics.  Thanks for your perspective!

Reviewer: Ryelle (Signed) · Date: November 05, 2009 10:42 AM · On: The Valediction

I loved that story.

It actually made me happy.

A proper conclusion, no living forever and ever in eternal bliss. Bella wasn't really insane, I find a lot of sanity in what she did and think. I especially loved the epiphany Edward came to when he realized what she meant when she said she was waiting for him and existing. She was waiting for him to depart with her, just as Emmett and Rosalie wanted.

Beautiful story, and to me is a great happy ending.

God, you have mad writing skills! This was an excellent story.  Not in the way that you would think a truly romantic story would play out, but it was one of the most thought-provoking fics I have ever read.  Really, how can you be an immortal and not at some point just mentally burn out.  I would think it would just become a burden.

I will definitely read anything else you write.  Thanks for taking the time to share this.

Wow. Great writing. And I agree with you - very romantic! I also enjoyed getting a different feel of their vampiric ways.
