Hmm. This has been sitting in my favorites list for a while. I figured that tonight, while the somehow dinosaur-aged burner installed in this rather snazzy laptop churns away at Alvin and the Chipmunks CDs for my baby cousins, would be a good night to start. Love it so far! You're talented, and your work is easy to read - I edit marketing materials at work when they get bogged down with projects, I've done it for years and love it - so mistakes really distract me from a story. This is nice. And I love your philosphy on reviews. ;) I'll try not to lurk!

Yes, Im afraid so. It is hard not to considering the history. I still want to hate him. I find what he has done to Bella and vulnerable girls before her to be despicable and inexcuseable but in view of his past the focus takes a bit of a shift. It is as if he has taken the first step on a road to redemption and the journey we are about to embark upon will be his story in finding salvation.

The next chapter covers a few months, but I want to express that she is going through this whole healing process...I can't say anything else without giving away top secrets! Anyway, no worries. I write this from the perspective of a girl who has been burned a few times, and gave in too easily when apologized to.

So I forgot to mention how much I adore Rosalie in this story. The conversation between her and Edward was verging on epic. I love how he has no doubts that she will actually castrate him. And he takes her seriously. And I love how she puts Emmett second to Bella, saying "Emmett or not, that girl is my family."
I also forgot to mention my love of Esme. Shes so soft yet so brutal when it comes to Edward and Bella.
Also, the fact that he loves her. So obvious to everyone else, so unbelievable to him. I love how in the last chapter you could actually feel Bella's embarrassment over the scarf and in this one Edward holds onto it like a life saver.
Sigh... I wish I could read more and not have to wait for it.

I love the way you write. Its so raw and emotional and seems real. Seems like all this really happened. I love it.
I'm glad you wrote about Edward and Emmetts father. I was beginning to wonder about him. Hes a dousche. I hope the trust fund is worth trillions.
Edward is still a dick. Hes just a depressed dick now. And I almost feel sorry for him. Until I remember that he did this to himself and guys like him should have their toes cut off one at a time. He needs to something serious to redeem himself. Diamonds won't cut it. And he needs to do it soon.

You know I ranted about all the other stuff and did not mention the most important thing about the whole chapter and that is his admission to himself that he loves Bella. So much so that he is willing to apologize and is prepared to protect her from himself if need be.
That and the scarf. When I read the last chapter about the scarf and it's imperections I just smiled. While reading this chapter I see an irony in that Edward, too, is full of imperfections. But in the end it was not so much the scarf but the fact that she made it and that it smells like her and he realizes just how much she means to him.
Ah Lola it is as if our Prickward is growing up.

Hold the phone and drop everything, Summer of Salt just updated and I don't care if the vegetables burn or bisquits don't get done when everything else is ready. How are you doing Lola?
Before I delve into the whole Edward tirade I want to tell you how much I love Rosalie. Well all of the characters actually. Esme is wonderful and Emmett well I guess he is more like his mama than his brother is.
The whole Rose/Edward conversation went quite well. I believe she has his full attention where Bella is concerned.
Esme's happiness with Carlisle shines through. Her interaction with Edward really endears her to me. Since my sons are older I can related to the whole scenario. Matter of fact I really like the whole parental storyline you have created. The budding romance between Esme and Carlisle adds a dimension to the story that we don't often see. But Emmett Cullen Sr, yeah that ass, is a bastard.
Ok, I was afraid this was going to happen. My dislike for Edward, the arrogant prick is still there but this new Edward makes my heart hurt a little more than I care for it to hurt. And after all he has put us through I really don't want to feel bad for him. Hell, I don't even want to like him.
It's funny. I wanted him to suffer. I wanted him to lose his football mojo. I wanted him to lose his way with woman. For cryin' out loud I pleaded with you to give him penis pain, which you did not do btw, but all I wanted was to wipe that fuckin' smirk off his face. But I never expected the daddy dearest aka father of the year to be such an asswipe.
So here we have two brothers born to the same parents that have turned out differently in that one can be in a relationship and the other can't. I have a feeling that if we were to delve deeper we would find the mind games and mental abuse suffered at the hand of this sick fuck called a father. Both boys would have been affected but it seems to be easier for Emmett . Perhaps it is his personality or the natural instinct to protect his younger brother. Maybe good old dad expects more of Edward because he favors him so and he wants to vicariously through his son. I suppose I could analyse this turn events until the cows come home but it really won't make a difference to the outcome of the story so I'll just say that in view of his sperm donor Edward hasn't turned out so bad.
Ah Lola, I do love this story. And to think I thought it was going to be a coming of age type story about kids hanging out at a lake and having fun. Pshaw, that would have been much to predictible. This way keeps me much more on my toes.
In a last note: I hope that your wildest dreams come to be in the year 2010.

I'm glad you're liking the developments with Esme and Carlisle. I'm trying to not make them too incidental to the story, and give them some depth, but of course our focus is still the core group.
Are you softening towards Edward? Most people aren't! To each his own, though.
As for the very different Emmett/Edward responses to their father, I think you nailed it in that it's a fundamental personality difference. People react very differently to the same situations, even if they were raised in the same enviroment, at least my brother and I do. I was wondering if someone was going to ask that question, so I'm glad it was you!
