I so didn't see this happening, despite your warnings! Really great twist to a "classic" storyline. My heart actually twitched at Jake's words. The fact that he realizes something is wrong with him. I'm starting to wonder if it's actually something biological, like a chemical imbalance or something causing his rages. And Bella, this chapter illustrates even more than the last one how strong of a hold Jake has on her. I haven't decided if it really is her love for him or just how long he has controlled her coupled with a low self-esteem or simply a fear of change.
Bravo!

The next chapter is in Jake's POV so there will be a little insight in to him and his past. I am so glad you are enjoying the story and the twists I like to toss in every now and again. I just started reading and I love the story. You have me in tears now. I always think that I would never fall into a situation like that and how could anyone else be dumb enough to, but then I read something like this, and it reminds me that it could happen to anyone. Even strong independent women.

It's realistic that she would blame herself, and be afraid of Emmett or someone else hurting her. You promised a surprise and there it was with Jake saying he wanted help. But as often times in these situations, I am guessing it's a ruse. Men like that don't change quickly or easily if at all, and are master manipulators. Bella certainly needs help to understand her reactions and why she stays in an unhealthy relationship; hopefully that will come later in the story.
It's certainly a fine line you are walking here - Bella in an abusive relationship with Jake, but her and Edward attracted to each other. Looking forward to the next installament.

i loved reading this chapter reading about how tentitive and careing edward is toward bella i love that we'r not even 3 chapters in and it's obvious he loves her and bella loves him although she doesn't yet kno it herself! i also loved the introduction to Carislie very good even though the story is very personal and sad uv managed to get just the right amount of humor in there and had me LOL in both this and the 1st chapter more then once! well done an amazeinf piece can't wait to read more! hopefully the 4th chapter is on it's way to give me my fix (as i sure edward would put it) ur writting it's like a drug to me! ur wrk is like my very own personal brand of heroine! LOL keep up the brilliant wrk!

ok firstly nothing is better then piggy back rids from edward except maybe makeing out with him! lol secoundly b4 i go all love struck puppy on u im not insane i read all 3 chapters b4 commenting and may i just say i love it and seriously cant wait 4 more! i only just finished chapter 3 and am already haveing withdrawel symtoms! (once again would like to point out i am in fact not insane! LOL) ur a brilliant writter and am left speachless especaily when it comes to the thought and detail uv put into it describeing her thoughts and feelings it awesome, my friend just yesterday got to play bass 4 greenday at the O2 areana in London and i thought that wud be the most amazeing story id hear about this week but ur's is a close secound if not a joint tie 4 first just awesome!!!!

Although I like the story, I'm confused as to why Edward was the one to comfort Bella until she fell asleep. Where was Emmett? That didn't make sense to me, otherwise, good chapter.
Author's Response: Emmett is angry and as you will see more in future chapters, he isnt really sure how to comfort Bella. He is angry she let herself get in this position and he just wants to shake sense in to her. He is too angry to be comforting right now, he means well but at the end of the day, someone is hurting his baby sister, his intsincts are to just go and kill the guy. Edward has a more objective view of what Bella needs since he is kind of on the outside looking in. Thats why it was Edward that comforted Bella because Emmett didnt pick up on the fact she needed that kind of support. Emmett is so eager to fix the problem that he isnt fully focussed on just taking a step back and comforting a distraught Bella. I hope this answers your question. :)

I was surprised that Edward took her back to his & Emmett's place. I'm glad he did, although he did break doctor-patient confidentiality by taking her there, since Emmett now knows of her injuries. But that aside, Edward was trying to do the best thing for her, and naturally she will rebel against their help; I suspect this is a common occurrence for many women in domestic violence situations. I'm guessing if she does return to Jake, he will likely hurt her again, and worse. Wonder if he will show up at Emmett's house looking for her, and what confrontation might result from that.
Author's Response: Ah...you may not be far wrong there. Yes Edward was breaking doctor patient confidentiality...but technically he wasn't Bella's doctor, Carlisle was. Yes Bella will fight against the help...but there may be a surprise you are not expecting. I have just submitted chapter three, I hope you stick with me and read it :)

I love this! You have completely and accurately captured the statistical reaction of abuse victims. It is about time someone got it right! Professionally I am a family and relationship counselor and it always irks me when people create this weak in every sense, battered, pitiful Bella. You are laying the foundation to what is promising to be an excellent story. Can't wait for the next update!
Author's Response: Thanks you so much. That is what I love to hear, that I am portraying Bella the right way. Bella isn't weak or Pityful. She is downtrodden but not stuck in the realtionship. She really does love Jake despite his "flaws" that she feels she creates. I have person experience of this type of DA so I am glad i could hit the nail on the head when trying to write her reactions. Love it! I am devastated for Bella - for the way Jake treats her, for the way she LETS him treat her and the loyalty she feels TO him. It's such a mental thing, this kind of abuse, as well as physical. Thank goodness Edward figured it out. I hope he and Emmett can get through to her and obviously I hope Edward feels something more than sisterly feelings for Bella.
