Excellent work with this chapter! I like how the "reveal" has come so quickly and Bella's inner dialogue while at the grocery store with Esme was hilarious.

wow alot of stuff in this chapter...but i felt like maybe the story is about to go somewhere...Edward and Bella seem to be slowly but surely developing a relationship and hopefully soon we will find out more about Bella's history.

Wow, I can't imagine how rough that whole scenario with the Denali's would have been on Bella. We all know why Edward is doing what he is, but darn I wish I could shake story-Bella by the shoulders and tell her to have faith :)

This is simply fascinating
~At that moment, my vision blurred, and an out-of-focus image appeared before me, though strangely I could still see the room around me. The flash that burned before my eyes seemed to be another shot of the very same room I was standing in viewed from a different angle. Everyone was positioned similarly to where they were now, but it was almost like I was another individual standing behind all of us observing the scene. I shifted my attention to the top of the stairs – for some reason, this appeared to be where I should look. But, that area was terribly unfocused. In fact, most of the vision was faintly unfocused, making everything vague. What appeared to be a male figure came into sight at the landing on the top. All of the sudden, he sprang down the stairs at an inhuman pace. He leapt on a brunette female figure, almost pouncing like a predator attacking its prey, bringing his face toward her neck.~

She seems remarkably detached…but if you had amnesia, would you even remember the normal reactions to finding oneself in such a nameless place, as a faceless person?
Oh, I don’t think this is overdramatic at all, but a completely natural expression of shock and fear!:
~ Though extreme, I closed my eyes, letting the idea of a slow, torturous death envelop me and I started bawling. I tried to tell myself to stop being so overdramatic. I tried to quit pitying myself, but I was unable to. I would allow myself this self-indulgence for now.~
Scientific, observing, analytical, Bella’s voice is quite dry and clinical. I’m wondering if this is her true personality or the voice of someone who doesn’t know herself.
This is really funny:
~ These are some really cheery people. I wonder if there are any more happy pills around. I could use an attitude adjustment right about now.~
Ooh, this is so cool (I just expected her to be eighteen!) – you got me here:
~ I cocked my head to the right and my eyebrows knitted together in surprise. I was amazed he’d heard me before. I had spoken so quietly. “I was born on September 13, 1974 . . . What year is it?”
”It’s currently late November of 2004,” Carlisle explained.
“Hmmm. Thirty?” I thought for a minute, allowing the thoughts to spin around in my mind.
Is thirty right? Yes. I'm sure that's correct. I don’t know why, but it just feels right.
“Yes, definitely. I am thirty.” ~
This would creep me out (‘Everyone will love her!’ – YIKES):
~ “Oh!” Alice stood up and clapped her hands together. “Yes, Esme. You're completely correct. Everyone will love her.”~

Thanks so much. I've actually gone back and cleaned up the first chapter. She is detached, at least at this point. She's more of an observer than anything, because she's so confused.

Bella and Edward are both stupid! it's so obvious they love each other.
Still, the chapter was really nice. I loved Edward pushing to be near Bella, and the fact that Eleazar could see they had feelings for each other. Also, Bella feeling jealous was really funny.
