Martha rocks at full on Motley Crue volume!

Reviewer: Mom of 2 in WI (Signed) · Date: August 06, 2009 11:45 AM · On: Chapter 58

Whoa, I'm stunned that Alice told Martha that they are vamps.  Stunned. I was expecting her to explain that Edward and Ed are the same person and that he is really sorry, blah blah blah.  I can see that Martha is going to be vital, but I wonder if she needed to know all of this.  What if she is in danger because of her knowledge?  Hmmm.  I"ll wait and see how this plays out!

Author's Response:

Martha is in danger for knowing -- which she realizes.  Although perhaps less in danger than Bella herself, as they might be able to reasonably pretend she doesn't know, and the Volturi wouldn't really expect that she would.  I think a lot of the danger depends on what the Volturi think.  There will be more on the Volturi.

Martha is a remarkable woman.  I hope we get to see her interaction with Charlie.  It will be interesting to see how she handles him.

I LOVE MARTHA!

Quick convo, perfectly crafted. :)  Looking forward to seeing what Martha's got in mind!

Haven't reviewed in awhile bc you're busy and I never have anything to say interesting other than, "OMG, I love it!" but...

OMG, poor Edward! Poor Bella! Poor Cullens! I mean you knew badness was coming but gah now that it's here I just want to retire back to Bella's room and the hot tub!

eek!

Actually, Jake took the news kind of well, didn't he? I guess everyone has matured over the years and he's a good friend for her. I like it that Edward is the king of vampire extreme :)

Author's Response:

Yup, everybody has grown up.  Jake's no longer a knee-jerk teen. :-)

That's so sweet that he sang the lullaby for her to help her fall asleep. I'm glad she didn't hesitate to call and ask him to do that. Sigh.

Great chapter!

There was a lot in this chapter to absorb. I'm really interested in Jasper's theory of the event horizon and I think I'm going to wait awhile and re-read before going on. Very very interesting. And the idea of having Jasper, Carlisle and Esme present for Dr. King's speech. Wow. I really like that. Also, the Jimi Hendrix lyrics... very apt.

Reviewer: twilove1 (Signed) · Date: August 05, 2009 04:16 PM · On: Chapter 29

The Cullens really did need a purpose, didn't they? Opening this shelter was a perfect fit for everyone, and Esme's story is important to the whole. I also miss Carlisle and hope that he'll be returning soon.

You had some very insightful & informative writing about abuse victims. I don't know how much of your story is from research or your own life's observations regarding Mark's death, the shelter, medical issues, historical information, etc., but you present everything very realistically and beautifully.

Author's Response:

Some is from my experience, some from research.

Oh... and the tears are here. That was perfect. They're not even officially open yet and now they have residents.

Author's Response:

A very important resident, as it turns out. :-)

Wow. This closer look into Edward's head was very revealing. Very thought-provoking and brought tears to my eyes.

Author's Response:

He's learning a lot about limitations which, oddly, makes him stronger.

Another great chapter. Thank you, I'm enjoying this so much that I haven't been able to get much else done since I started reading. It truly is a work of art.

Seems Edward's a liability too.  He's got to keep it together, even though he's anguished into near hysteria!  It's almost funny!  You've done a marvellous job in detailing each person's character - that's why you got my vote.  Nothing against the other contenders-I'll read them after yours is done.

I'm a fan.  No reply, just write, please.

I really liked Bella & Edward's easy banter. It sounds like she's feeling more like herself now and they are a lot more comfortable together. It's great that Edward is in the residency program and is feeling like he has a purpose and also a bit of a challenge. Her dream at the end was very interesting. Oh, I've been meaning to tell you also that I like how you give the author's note at the beginning with a little preview of what's in the chapter.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  I didn't name the chapters, so I thought a little 1-2 sentence summary was a good idea.  And yes, their closeness is building slowly.

Emmett and Rose are so wonderful, I wish I could move in with them!      "Not to mention Jasper might've improved, but he's still got a ways to go with that whole 'wanna have you for lunch' thing," Emmett adds. "Rose and I won't eat you, even if you do cut your finger." (hahahahaha!!)

I hope Bella & Edward's honest conversation in the car is the first of many, cause I think they need that. It still breaks my heart that things turned out the way they did, but I know I need to look for all the positive aspects too.

Yeah, one point of view per scene --- that means more scenes!!!!  ^-^  I know, I know, but it makes it seem like the story is longer......!!??

Love Martha's involvement.

Bella's observation of Edward's look was so funny, "Edward's face remains perfectly bland. Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth (probably literally)..." I'm glad things are settling in for Bella now and it sounds like Edward is being a true friend to her when she needs one. He's certainly proving to be very dedicated and invaluable, and isn't pressing her for more than she can give.

Author's Response:

He's biding his time.

Reviewer: antipyro (Signed) · Date: August 05, 2009 02:44 PM · On: Chapter 55

Great car discussion...I hope Jenny didn't hear what they were talking about...but somehow...I think she did catch some of it.

Hmm, is this Alice's vision??  I just hope the slug who hit Bella gets it back - treble!!!

Still so great a story---no reply, thanks, just keep writing.

Reviewer: antipyro (Signed) · Date: August 05, 2009 02:05 PM · On: Chapter 54

It's good that Bella finally lets it be known that she's seeing 'Ed'.  She'll have to have the relationship develop fairly quickly if Alice's vision happens in the not too distant future.  I can only guess that if Bella is crawling, that her legs work, after the change; that she fakes her own death; and that's what Alice sees.

Reading to catch up....

Fantastic chapter....er....scene - yeah, that's right,....scene...but still nice and long!

Author's Response:

Glad you liked!

I like Rose so much in this story, and I think this is more as she's meant to be. It never made sense to me that the rest of the family was so kind and loving to Bella, yet Rosalie came off as bitchy and underdeveloped. She has such a great relationship with Emmett and it's touching that she wants to have Bella live with them, even if that means more Edward. And I, for one, am looking forward to more Edward :)

Author's Response:

Rose is one of those characters it's very easy to villainize.  It didn't help that Stephenie didn't give any explanation for her behavior until book 3 -- and that story is actually GREAT.  (Well, ignoring the certain illogic of a man of that status abusing his arm candy fiancee when he could have done the same to the kitchen girl.)  Anyway, I think the fact that Edward's point of view is equally negative and dismissive in Midnight Sun, and he can supposedly read her mind, inclines readers to trust Edward where they probably *shouldn't*.  Just because Edward can read what's going on in people's heads *at that moment* doesn't mean he really understands them.  And I suspect that Rose is fairly private and has learned over the years who to deflect Edward.

oh, i can't wait to see how you handle the charlie factor!  this is on-the-edge-of-your-seat good!!!

Wow!  I am travelling for work this week and have loads of down-time, so I've just read all 57 chapters on my iphone while waiting in airports, etc.  And, well, wow!  I really loved it.  What I like most is that you are portraying Bella's and Edward's relationship as a mature, very real one.  I especially love the "lemony" scenes, not because they are lemony, but because they are so real!  You're right, sex is really about laughing and exploring and getting past insecurities together.  Sex, even with someone you love, can be awkward and at times downright funny!  Maybe I think that way because I've been married 13 years and have seen how love progresses and changes (I know-I'm really too old to be reading Twilight fanfic :)  But it's my guilty pleasure)

And I love the "real" conversations they have together -- because that's what couples who know each other well -- they talk and they forge friendships.  You don't see that much in fanfic.  That's for an incredibly well written story -- I can't wait to see how it all ends!  (Although I'll be so sad that I won't have it to read anymore!)

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And yes, a very real, grounded relationship was what I was trying to build!

Reviewer: twilove1 (Signed) · Date: August 05, 2009 10:00 AM · On: Chapter 21

This chapter had me feeling very melancholy. I was wishing for the love they used to share, but completely understanding why it isn't possible, yet still feeling badly for Edward that she doesn't love him, but still happy that she wants to be friends and that they are building on that. (I guess that makes me melancholy and run-on sentency). Anyway, I can't begin to understand how Bella feels with so many changes going on in her life right now, so I guess things are going better than expected.

Author's Response:

Bella is going through the work of hard grieving through that winter.  It definitely takes time, isn't just something she can blow past.  She's very fortunate in having people with her who care about her. :-)
