This was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not a big Twilight fan, but I came here because of a rec by Minisinoo and was not disappointed.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And Minisinoo has been very kind about this story, in a lot of ways.

This story has been truly amazing. The time you spent really researching everything mentioned really made it richer.

Thank you for sharing your story with us and did it better than other several other AU's.

Such a beautiful ending. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You are right, death isn't always a bad thing.  When someone has lead a full life and all their doing is suffering, to me death is a relief.  It doesn't mean that you don't grieve just as much as for someone who's young, it's just a different type of grieving.

I love the way Bella explains things to Renee, it made me LOL with the ectoplasm line.  The scene with Charlies retirement was also great.  I think it's what should have happend after Eclipse but never really did until they were forced to work together again.  What a difference ten years makes eh?

I just want to say thank you for writing such an awesome story and deciding to share it with us.  Thank you also for responding to so many of my reviews.  Maybe this is dumb but that little touch made me feel more a part of the story than I would have just reading it.

Good luck in the future!

Author's Response:

Oh, I'm so glad it did make you feel so!  I've been SO bowled over by how everybody replies and comments, I really wanted to reply back to them.  I know a lot of people don't check back, but some do.  I feel like I've sort of gotten to know some of the reviewers.  I recognize their names.  It's cool!

And I kind of wanted the Renee section to be a mix of lightness and seriousness, to contrast with Martha's death later, with Charlie in between as a levening. :-)

This has been an amazing journey & I loved traveling it.  Although it came around full circle to Martha passing away & the pain that comes with it, but they all faced it well.

Thank you for the 3 small shorts.  Bella saying goodbye to her mother, and her mother thinking it was from the grave. Charlie's retirement, and saying goodbye to family.

I actually like the fact that Bella wasn't fully healed, and still has problems walking, but is moving well.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And yeah, an imperfect but happy vampire seemed more in keeping with things. :-)  I'm glad you liked the story and thought the ending was a good summing up!

*bawls*

I think I went through half a box of tissues with this last chapter.

And you won't get any hate mail from me. I think it was a great fit to have it end the way it did. It focuses on what's important, your family and friends around you, rather than living forever. I think living forever'd be lonely if I didn't have friends and family for company.

Great story. It'll stay one of my favorites for a good while I believe. I look forward to reading your next forays into writing, but take you some time and relax first!

Zanne

Author's Response:

Thank you!  and yes, exactly!  A life well-lived and dying well and at the right time (not to outlive everyone else) is a blessing.  But I really did want to show that while Bella did, in the end, get a mostly happy ending, there's still a price to being a vampire. :-)

Katie -

I've never been so sad to see a story end!  Martha's death was so dignified and I love that her and Carlisle became friends and kept in touch.  Edward's renewed faith was a great conclusion, to me it just highlighted how important the time he was away from Bella.  Martha would think of that as God's plan.  : )  I liked the small hints at happiness for BxE, even their fight in the chapel showed how close they are.

My first reveiw on FF was for Blink and I just remember after devouring hours of bad plots, bad editing, horrible spelling - I was blown away by how precise and well written your story was.  Something I've said in reviews before is how well the details in this story make it so "real." I'm still struggling through tears for Martha but thank you for sharing your story with us!

- Lynn

Author's Response:

And thank you for such sweet compliments!  Despite having vampires (and werewolves) in it, I wanted to put a story out there that was really about being human, and that tried to make it all as real as I could.  So I'm really glad readers like that too!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  And yes, a whole year!  I'm surprised too, actually, and not, because sometimes it seems like longer.  But I really enjoyed writing it, and I'm glad readers seem to have enjoyed reading it so much!

What a wonderful story.  Its so different from the others just the perfect thing.  I love how Bella was more mature when she was changed and the way she thought out everything.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  I'm so glad you liked it and Bella's reactions to the change!

I kept putting off reading this story because of its length when I first added it as a favorite, but decided to start reading when I saw that it was finished.  That being said, I really love the take you have on the Cullens.  It's "real."  I look forward to seeing how all of this plays out. Great job!!!

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And yes, I wanted to write a story that sort of dealt realistically with vampires, which sounds like a non-sequiteur but was part of the fun! :-)

Dear Katie,

I struggle with tears as I write this - last - review of your wonderful story. It feels like saying goodbye to a friend, who has been there for the last half of a year, and gave so many moments of intimacy, wisdom, joy and understanding. Your story has been - for me - about the imperfections and perseverance, about the strength of finding yourself after losing your way.  The ending was *just* right, with Bella facing the gains and losses of immortality, Edward finding his spiritual sanctuary and Martha being a caregiver, even on her deathbed. I think you have ruined me for all future Edward/Bella fan fiction :-)

Writing can be such a powerful thing. Reading the reviews of the story, I see how many people you have moved, me including. Sending you all good wishes and thanking for this heartwarming experience,

yours truly,

Helene

Author's Response:

Oh, wow!  Thank you so much!  I'm so glad that's what you got out of the story since that's exactly what I was hoping to convey with it!  Thanks again!

Thanks so much for your wonderfull story, the emotional ups and downs and your unique writing style!

Bella's limping is a great solution, Edward did his best to save/heal her, but a reminder of her past stays.

I liked the second part best, but I also think the goodbye from Martha is a very suiting ending, though a sad one.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  The last is sad, but brings the story full-circle to where it began.  Still, I put in the second part to give readers a sense all is not sad or desperate!  Vamp Bella and Edward are happy, and still have family around!

I really loved this story, probably because it was more real than most books, movies and TV. The latter are created for 'appeal' but your story was appealing because the words weren't written specifically because people would like it that way, rather because the story and characters warrented it that way.

*I'm still a firm believer this should be the premise for a tv series!

Chris.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  And I really did want the events to make some kind of internal sense?  So I'm glad they seemed to!
