Ladies, ladies, ladies, can I just say that I love you?

Ellie (since this is your chap!)--

I love that Bella and Edward were so HONEST with each other, no holding back.  it's about time!  Thank God she finally read the letters--I think she really needed to realize how Edward truly felt in order to move on.  And Charlie...if I didn't love him before with what he said to Edward, I do now!  He's so straightforward--of course he lets B stay w/ E because, as he said it himself, E is the only one who can bring her back home.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!  (And I love it more now that you told me how to read the white 'blanks' LOL)

Le Sigh.  They kissed.

I swear my heart dropped when she woke up in the beginning with her thoughts.  The picture pretty much made me cry. 

Dinner with Charlie was good for her.  She needed to hear what he had to say.  I shudder to think she would have left again had they not talked.

Reading the letters had to be hard. And at the same time it was as if they were cleansing.  They did not wash away all the years of despair but they did bring about a sense of hope.  That and of course I listened to "Changing Channels" continuously while reading.

Then she asked for him to kiss her I swear I sighed.  This was followed by a swoon with the kiss.  Just please tell us he held her through the night again.

Everyone has left for the day in my office and here I am hanging on to every word in this chapter (even though it's freaky to read with the white areas)!

I am so very happy that they seem to have come to an agreement to accept where they are right now and yet be open to each other.  Bella has gone through a very intensive self and other self (Edward) awareness exercise.  I think the conversation with her father helped her put some things into perspective especially as what he told her about Edward's whoring around was the way he dealt with his pain and to have that confirmed through the letters she never read - I can understand that she was in overload.

I think Edward is starting to see just how deeply Bella was broken- because he was the only one who knew just how deeply those words would cut. Everyone might think it was an overreaction, but Edward now knows Bella sees him as continuing the degradation that started in her childhood.

I like that Edward is going slowly. He asks for permission to kiss her. I worry that his feelings of rejection from Bella will start him back on a negative path.

I like that Bella does see that Edward was hurt, even though his actions still cut her deeply and may make a romantic reconciliation impossible.

You make such a good point about Bella's emotional state is not just caused by Edward's words.  It was the trust she had with what had happened to her as a child being broken in the cruelest way, even unintentional, by the one person she relied on.

Edward definitely has his work cut out for him.  Patience is key and patience is not his strong suit.  And yes, Bella does now realize the depth of pain that Edward has as well.

Oh thank the good lord in heaven!  That kiss, if nothing else, should have awoken feelings in Bella that will make her WANT to try with Edward.  I was so glad she read those letters, too.  I was almost angry with her for a minute that she hadn't even let him explain in the least.  They have a ton of shit to work through, but they obviously love each other.  So, so great...can't wait to read more!
