From this last chapter, I cut these words: "Not in the way that I will... or could..."
This is very important to me, in a completely open-ended way. It speaks to possibility, and a lack of foregone conclusions. It is hopeful and slightly wary. I understand and like it very much.
While reading, I happened to be listening to this song, which I find incredibly beautiful.

I have absolutely no idea what they're singing about. And in many ways, I'm not sure what your Edward and Bella are singing about, but I like that they have separate voices and that they are, each in turn, more beautiful separate than they are together - and I'd like to think that they each recognize and value this.
For some reason, I fixated on the chapter in which Edward details the monotony of his days as the sunrises and sets, and he thinks about drinking or working or whatever. The banality, tedium and repetition were beautifully articulated.
I also still think about Edward's mittens and the fun she poked. Their ability to fold back and show his fingertips so he could smoke. So adult, so childish. And I liked that she was funny, even though she is often cruel in her humor, though unintentionally. I do understand that very much.
So. Thank you. For your story. And for your immense kindnesses.

i want to cry for this being over! if you continue to post other things you write, i will by all means read them! this was an absolutely magnificent story and one of my favorite edwards i have ever read. seriously, i loved every chapter. the dialogue was so real and the whole feel of the story was so gritty. marvelous story. :-)

Great story. I imagine it has been hard to write at times - it was hard enough to read. But you tried and achieved a snapshot of the utterly bare, living, breathing, draining and inspiring mess that a romance in this situation can be. Unglamorous. Unaccessorised. Totally honest. Loved it. And if I really wanted to see them have sex at least once after their reunion? Pfft. Poor me. I will just have to imagine it. Good on you for stopping where it felt right. Thank you :)
