I just started this yesterday after seeing it rec'd MANY times all over the place. I love the pace, and how you've developed the characters. It's disturbing, yet engaging, all at the same time.

A change, a big one, from coast to coast. Leaving behind, friends, school, experiences. Starting fresh in an old familiar place. It has to have its charm. She says she likes moving and not staying in the same place, but she hasn't been to too many places. Is her body or her mind the restless one?
She wants to figure out things it seems, but those things aren't clear yet.
Her life is fine, she has a job she seems to enjoy, has made friends, found a place to live and people to spend time with. But is this it? All of it?
What's missing? I do want to find out.

Edward is so intense. How did he survive all that? YIKES! I agree with Jasper that Bella may be too much for Edward right now. He may want to keep it platonic. I don't think he can handle all the intensity of a relationship. He's definitely awake to the world around him again.

*chuckles* That was awkward, but all kinds of adorable! Their interactions are so real! Full of real tension and I'm loving it. Well, I guess Jasper does indeed know Edward and I guess that also answers my questions about Jasper's backstory. Wow. So what is Bella going to do with this information? I imagine Edward is freaking out about this reveal to Bella. I'm really worried about how any type of relationship or difficulties could cause Edward to have a setback. I don't want him to fall back into drugs & alcohol.

Wow! Edward's existance is mind numbing! I imagine routine is necesary for his recovery. I ache for him! How did this happen to him? He was such a vile human for so long. Why?
So his short term memory exlpains his complete obliviousness toward Bella. Unfortunately, when he has shaken from his fog she isn't too happy about his lack of recognition. Funny! I was laughing at Bella's outburst!
Okay, so why is making the lists? Is he going to try to make resitution to those he has wronged? Looking forward to the next chapter...

Okay, so last chapter Bella got her first glimpse of Edward and he's hot, but ouch he's completely indifferent toward her. That's gotta hurt! I'm curious to get into Edward's head. What's his sober reality? Does everyone in Port Angeles know what he used to be?
Jasper has been seriously injured and it ruined all of his dreams for the future. Hmm...does he by any chance know Edward?
Yeah, Seth definitely deserves more! He's super sexy and deserves someone who wants him too. Is this in any way how her relationship with Mike has been? Just curious...

I like Bella...she's cool for want of a better word. A little young, and maybe immature in some ways but definitely relatable. Mike is great! Will we see more of him? Okay, so she's planning to go to graduate school and has decided to go home...what exactly is she trying to figure out? All things I'm willing to find out ;)
Jasper & Alice are great. Why is Jasper working at the bookstore? What's his backstory? I think there's something there. Alice is meddlesome and adorable.
And, wow! Seth is sexy! I don't think Bella will take him seriously, at least not seriously as boyfriend material. Seth's perceptive, she should consider more with him. Great chapter!

Holy Hell! That was some first chapter! I've come to this story late in the game through recs from just about everyone in the fandom. The loudest being Feathersmmm...gotta love her :)
I cannot fathom how Edward got to this point in his life...I mean why has he spent such a large chunk of time self-medicating and trying to escape his life? What brought him to this point? I'm intrigued. The chapter is incredibly vivid, and it reeks of the seedy underbelly of drugs. The smell of booze, cigarettes, vomit, and the smell of the desperate roll off of it. I could not have been more proud of Edward when he walked, well stumbled, out of that girl's bedroom and decided to change his life! GO EDWARD!

This story was highly recommended. But I was told not to read the summary, and I didn't I got straight into the chapter, with no clue as to what I was going to find.
I found a man whom to the world has everything, money, looks, popularity, drugs, liquor, women, friends. A guy who is a host to sought out parties and who everyone wants to hang around with. He has all everyone wants, but he is cold, inside and out.
It's never enough, never entirely satisfying, something is always missing, and he is unable to grip it.
He goes through life with the motions expected of him, the motions he knows now how to do without much thought. And he is "fine" it goes fine.
It said it will all spiral down until rock bottom is found, and it's never the same for two individuals.
Has he found his? Did a corsage and the naiveness of an 18 year old be what he needed to snap out of his haze and try to do something about the coldness in his life? It seems that way.
The determination he showed giving all away, selling all, settling things speaks volumes, even if he is inhaling meanwhile.
Where is he off to now? I want to find out, I really do.

Came to this after reading a recommendation from Feathers. I happen to be off work today so have read it in one session.
It isn't what I expected but realised how much I was enjoying it after a few chapters.
Now looking forward to the next update.

I am really enjoying your story, I love your Alice! Like getting to know Bella so well.

I so love the realism of this relationship - the rawness of it and the confessions that make Bella take a step back instead of leaping in head first, to excuse the play on words...Love the work that you are doing here!! :)

Holy Macaroni that was hot. I almost didn't read this one, cause the idea of Edward as an addict wasn't hot, but Edward as a RECOVERING addict is totally hot. Hot hot hot. Want to touch the heiny hot... Now I am a recovering edward addict, that is, addicted to recovering edward, not recovering from an edward addiction, cause why would i want to do that?!?!

TB, I've seen your fic recc'ed by a few of my favorite authors now, and so I finally checked it out--I can't tell you how completely blown away I am by this story. It is so rich that it just jumps from the page and keeps me riveted. Truly a great story, and I can't wait to see where you take it. I have to say, I'm a little worried about Bella's impending departure and what that will mean for Edward. Her presence in his life really threw a kink into his daily routine, but in a good way. He needed a friend, something to break up the monotony and the thinking of using. But now, I worry that the 'high' he gets from being with her is going to go away when she goes away--will this send him into a tailspin? It breaks my heart to think that he might relapse. And would Bella be able to handle this? So much to consider, and like I said, I can't wait to see where this story goes...

Loved getting to know Bella and a little about her past! I assume that was Edward in the bookstore purchasing a book. Love the way you write, can't wait for E/B to meet.

Hot and bothered!
Once again, amazing writing. I'm as addicted to this story and your talent as I was for Wide Awake.

I really liked the beginning of this chapter. You captured what it feels like to start the recovery process very well.

Wow! You are a powerful writer. Such beautiful writing for such an ugly life Edward is leading here. I'm so intrigued...can't wait to keep reading.

I SO love your version of Edward. I'm so happy he's staying honest with her, even if she has to give him a little push sometimes. Sweet chapter. On the one hand, I wanted him to "slip" there at the end. hehe On the other hand, the UST is fun, too!

I have read a lot of good fanfic. I don't believe I have EVER wanted, needed a HEA to a story more than this. It is consuming me. I hope that you are at least consider it and if you are for sure not, could you PM me and let me know, because I swear I am way too invested in this story and I would have to stop now and let go. Thank you. I really really love this story. Micki

It is impressive how you are able to convey Edward's hyper-awareness of his surroundings. I know he is in sort of a fog or bubble due to his prior drug use a lot, as you wrote in previous chapters, but the sounds and sights that surround him, that I would totally for granted, shape every move and thought Edward has. The AA story was heartbreaking. It is sad what happens when people are reduced to that. Makes me want to have my children read that passage someday (they are little now) to keep them from ever wanting to try more than alcohol or pot. This must have been totally exhausting to write. It was very emotional. It is so well written though. I am still in awe. Micki
