I am quite intrigued about where this story is heading. I hope you have at least a couple more chapters ready to go, since I'm chomping at the bit to read more!
This was a very good start. It pulled me in from the beginning and has me hooked. Your grammar and sentence structure is excellent. (Run-on sentences drive me crazy.)
