I was so glad to read the encouragement Bella gave Alice when she opted not to breastfeed. I feel as you do, that it should be the mother's choice, and she shouldn't be made feel guilty about it. I have two kids, one was formula fed, and one was breastfed. In the end all that should matter is happy, healthy mom, and happy healthy baby!
Loving this story and look forward to the updates!

I totally agree with the whole breastfeeding! All 3 of my girls were bottle feed and they are healthier than almost all of my friends kids who were breastfeed. It is a choice thing!

We need more caring and wonderful people like that in the world. Seriously, things would be less horrid if there were.

You know....seeing Jessica's face would be priceless. Haha. Sad about Billy. I hope that you have HEA for him. You have written him as a really wonderful, genuine man. I am wondering what lovely lady will grace his presence.

I feel the same as you in regards to breastfeeding. The most important thing is that the baby is healthy and mum is happy. Yes breastfeeding is the best choice, however it is not a do or die situation. The mother should never be guilted into making choices that don't work for her and or the baby. For some mothers breastfeeding is literally impossible - their babies are just fine! (ok enough from me too)
Yay for the bubby kick! I can't wait for Edward and Bella to be parents. When you described Edward holding Alyssa I got all mushy... in a good way;)

About being or not being breastfeed, it think you are right it's the woman decision, and it doesn't mean she doesn't love her bb, her actions are going to speak louder and shows how she feels about her bb.If your feel uncomfortable to breastfeed the bb then don't, it's better you do something that can bring pleasure for both.
I love your POV and yoir ffic.I can't wait until they have their bb. Thanks, bc even when you were sick you thouight about us. I hope you are feeling better now.

I’m glad you broached the breastfeeding issue. There are many strong opponents and advocates. I’m a mum who was going to do it “come hell or high water”. It nearly destroyed my mental capacities as I cried at every feeding from the pain. Not to mention the cracked bleeding nipples, and a child who ate every hour on the hour until nearly 6 months. I’m blonde and fair skinned; I understand this contributed to the issue as well.
Needless to say, baby #2 had a more experienced mommy with a new set of priorities. Although, I have to admit that now that they’re grown men, breastfeeding is a subject for gentle jesting as to who got all the mother’s milk and who did not. (Both sons are college graduates – with advised degrees in Engineering and Economics.) I think they both developed quite fine.

I am just loving this sweet love story. I know some writers have complex, dramatic plots, but I love this story for his focus on the love building. And I really appreciate your care and love that is evident for those that work with babies. Sigh...great story so far.

I'm right there with you. I have twins and since they had to be delivered 4 weeks early they were always very tired and had to be fed formula in addition to being breast-fed. I used a breast-pump, too, because they were not as exhausted as from breast-feeding when given the milk by bottles. After 4 weeks I gave up, fed them formula, had daddy's help at night and everybody was happy.
Poor Alice, can't go shopping, he, he. I feel good for Victoria and Jacob and love the happa, baby-enthusiastic Edward. Go baby, give Eddie a high five.

I totally agree with your view on breast-feeding! My baby is one and a half years old and before she was born I always thought I was going to breast feed.
Where I live there is a real big pressure on breast feeding. Hell, while I was pregnant my own aunt piled on the pressure.
And then she was born, my beautiful Dana. I tried for two and a half months and I was miserable and afraid the she wasn't getting enough food. I called my mom nearly every day and finally she convinced my husband to get a box of formula.
Since than everything is fine. Dana's a happy healthy sweet little girl, my husband loved feeding Dana and I was more relaxed knowing my baby got enough.
I'm not saying breast feeding is wrong, just that it is not the only option.
Thank you for a beautiful story and I can't wait to read more.
Love Marli-chan

Okay, first great chapter, second that last sentence is freaking me out a bit! What is going to happen, I know you have said nothing would happen to Bella and Edwards baby but something bad is coming!
I agree with your views on breastfeeding, it is not for everyone or every baby! I ate all the right things, did all the right things and my milk just didn't satisfy my youngest son and he had to go on formula when he was a week old.

i know how your feeling when it comes to breastfeeding. I was unable to breastfeed, because my milk never came in. One of the nurses came into the room and said it was my fault because i didnt try hard enough. Being a nurse myself, i knew that wasnt the reason, but i couldnt shake the guilty feeling. Loved the chapter by the way. You are awesome!!!

Here here! You should go and talk to the midwifes at the Mater in Brisbane..........breastfeeding is apparently the only way........

I'm with you all the way with the pro-choice honey! :) Nobody has the right to make anyone else feel guilty for their choice - nothing is ever as black and white as it might appear to another. I still remember the overwhelming guilt I felt when I was considering switching my little girl to bottles 6 weeks in as I was so exhausted from non-stop feeding. I'd never realised til that moment how much opinion there is out in the world. I'll bet if you lined up my daughter's preschool class you couldn't tell those bottle vs breast fed as babies!
Back to the story though - I'm dreading the start of the next chapter by the sound of it, those sad stories of lost little ones always make me want to cry and I can only imagine the impact it's going to have on Edward & Bella :(

good chapter.
I agree the decision to breastfeed should be up to the mom. I did a paper on it for a class once and although I think it's best on paper, having breastfed my own child I know it's not easy and not the best choice for everyone. I did enjoy it after the initial 'settling in' period though and was happy I stuck it out.
