i really njoyed the fact that Edward and Bella got to help with delivering the baby. when my daughter was born they let me help pull her out. it was amazing. i am really enjoying this story. Thanks for not putting major crisises on the two main characters i know a little suspense is good. I am really enjoying it.

I loved the story. It was sweet and fullfilling. I am so happy that someone paid homage to the midwives out there. I wish they were more appreciated. I don't know what I would have done if I did not have my midwife at my side. Thank you!!!

This chapter was especially difficult for me. Tomorrow morning I will be traveling to see my father in almost the same exact senario as you have described. He has the same cancer plus lung cancer and he is in the hospital failing fast. But on the bright side, you have written it beautifully.

I loved reading this chapter. I am from J-ville born and raised and for an Ausie you got many of the details right. One small thing, you metnioned the River walk on the north bank of the St. John's, that is true, but Friendship Fountain is on the South bank. I doubt they would have seen it, unless they took a water taxi...The beches truly are great I'm proud of my hometownand I'm glad you featured it n you story. thank you. BTW, Go Suns they just won the Southern League Championship, Secon year running. I know Phil is pleased...lol

I am glad you have this approach to breastfeeding. I had a terrible time trying to make it work when I had my son. It was awful. And I think I put less pressure on myself than most people i know because I'd seen so many friends struggle with it. I was still just shocked by how *hard* it is. You'd think something your body is configured to do would just sort of happen instinctively. So thank you for putting this into the story and having a midwife be so cool about it.

I just wanted to comment on the whole brestfeeding issue...
I hate when people judge people who DONT breastfeed. My brother and sister in law just had a baby and cant brestfeed bc of health issues with the baby and a lady at work who is all "I have my babies at home, in a bathtub, with a midwife and breastfeed" (midwifing in the US usually involves being birthed at home) and was basically judging my family by the fact that they cant breastfeed. Its very aggravating and insulting! So thanks for addressing that. I wish people would let people make their own decisions and respect it!
Anyways, awesome story, so sweet and touching and thanks for writing something so heartwarming!

ok so after reading 5 chapters here is the fisrt review.... I really do love this story, I have been trying to figure out what some of the phrases mean since I am an American.....hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! Takeway was pretty easy to figure out, but wet the baby's head still has me baffled!!!!!!!!LOL Whoohoo Edward kissed Bella, lip lockage is always good
Author's Response: LOL, I didn't realise that wasn't a common phrase! It's when a drink or two (or several) are had by way of celebrating a baby's birth. Hope that clears that up.

My first pregnancy resulted in stillborn twins. I will never forget staring at the ultrasound screen and their little still hearts. Labor was induced and I named them Hope and Faith (because that's what I had always felt like they were supposed to be named I didn't know at the time why) That was in 1989 Yesterday was a VERY SPECIAL day it was my second set of twins' (Arianna Hope and Brianna Faith) 13th birthday. I don't believe in reincarnartion so it's not like I am saying that Hope and Faith came to me a second time but I wasn't ready to be a mother when I was presented with the chance the first time around. My heart broke the day I said goodbye to my precious babies and began to heal again when I held Ari and Bri in my arms. Any parent that has ever lost a child knows that they can naver be replaced they just helped frill the void a little. I cried as I read of Liz and Michael's lossed daughter. The nurses that cared for me didn't know how to help so they just said nothing so the room was completely silent... I felt alone in my grief it was just my mother and I (Thank God for my Mom) I am thankful for all the compassionate people that ARE there for people in these kinds of situations.
Author's Response: Wow, your story really touched me. I'm so glad you got your two precious angels to help heal the pain of losing the first two. I wish them both a happy birthday and send you love and best wishes. Cecilia

The cabbage leaves are a great trick to help with engoregement. However women need to be careful because they can also help to dry up your milk supply. Funny story for ya though lol When my twins were born I had a blugged duct and so had tuct a cabbage leaf in my bra to help reduce and get things flowing so to speak... well I forgot it was there and went to see my OB and he was checking me out and palpated my breast through by shirt and bra and felt the cabbage! He got this really suprised look on his face and when we realized what it was we all had quite a laugh.

You have done a wonderful job so far! Yes there are some different terms here in the states but you are doing a grest job with the story thus far and I am glad to see that you are also doing a little education as well. I am a Doula (trained labor compainion whom provides education and support during the chidbbirth year we do a lot of what a Midwife does with out the clinical aspect such as comfort measures, eduaction, lactation support etc) As I read this the stpry is completed already. I really look forward to reading the rest of the story.

such a real=feeling story. besides the love developing, it shows the tragic side of life that medical people come to face often. I met a great lady[ who was a nurse] years ago and sometimes she would be upset over cases she'd see in the Dr. office where she worked. she couldn't discuss to much but she did pray for her patients. Theres lots of good in this world but also a lot of bad. This writer is so good relating these peoples lives!

OK bear with my rambling, but I just found this story today. I spent all possible time I could reading straight through because I was just that caught up in it. :) So I'll give you my internal notes, thoughts, and musings now... since I couldn't stop reading between chapters long enough to review then. :)
First off... Jake and Victoria. Thought it would be weird when I realized you were setting it up... ended up loving the two of them together. Your Jake was really sweet, I think I have found maybe two or three stories where I actually like Jake, so kudos on that. My heart broke all over the place for Victoria and I was glad to see a good man swoop in to take care of her and her little one.
OK, so here is my one sad kind of note. The scene early on where a lady loses her baby at around 19 weeks... I don't know how it works in Australia admitedly... but in America that is a whole lot more traumatic of an ordeal as you have to labor through and deliver the baby. They'll do a D&C afterwards if they feel it's needed, but you have to labor through. I lost my first at 18 weeks. I was in labor 15 hours total, 11 of that they were trying to stop it and the last 4 were just a brutal, mind-screw of a waiting game.
The other stillbirth (yes, I know medically they don't count a 19 week infant as a stillbirth but it really is an insult to the parents to not do so at that point) was complete heartfail, and I wasn't surprised Bella had issues after being present for it. I'm really glad there wasn't a whole lot of angst in total.
I saw in your AN's that you were originally planning to have Edward believe the baby wasn't his. I thought the exact same thing right up to the point where he immediately discarded the notion. I thought for sure that he would accuse Bella of having slept with Jake while she was there before Billy died (also heartfail, BTW) and I thought all of his insecurity regarding their friendship was leading right to that door. SURPRISE!!!! I'm glad it didn't happen that way. :)
Once again... not sure how it is Down Under but I was SO glad right from the beginning you didn't go all Lacto-Nazi on the breastfeeding issue. I wasn't able to nurse either time, never lactated with my daughter, never even got colostrum with my son. It was formula or nothing... and I STILL had people up in my grill about it. I should have tried herbals or drugs to make me lactate. I was lazy. I was failing the first test of motherhood. BLAH BLAH BLAH. While I whole heartedly support and encourage anybody who wants to nurse, I just wish they would return the courtesy to those of us who can't or don't want to.
I liked how all of the parents got along well, and the addition of Kara. I know Charlie had a few moments of dad-ness, but I'm glad he wasn't all Anti-Edward and trying to push Jake down Bella's throat in this one. I really have issue with Canon Charlie sometimes. I don't mind a little over-protectiveness, but I like him much more when he puts his daughters wants and happiness above that of his best friend's son.
All in all, I loved the story. Thought it was well written, and while there were a few twinges I was relly glad that it was just a fluffy little love story at the core. Thanks for giving me a few enjoyable hours. I'm outtie as it's now 3 am my time. :)
